Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Costa RicaI had the most wonderful stay at this lodge in Costa Rica! From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with genuine warmth and hospitality. The location is absolutely breathtaking, nestled in nature with incredible views of the rainforest and wildlife right outside your window. Each morning I woke up to the sounds of birds, which made the experience feel magical and truly connected to nature. The food was another highlight. Fresh, flavorful, and made with locally sourced ingredients.

United StatesThe road is still close so we could still hear the air breaks of the big trucks every once in a while.
It felt so removed from civilization. A beautiful setting with a view above the trees while in the amazing forest. It is rustic which might not be for everyone. I loved that a huge beautiful moth came into the lodge for a visit.

Czech RepublicIn the rain season it was rather cold ať night. I believe in the hot months it must be great. A bit hard to find without a car because booking shows another location in the map.
Beautiful decoration, table tenis, paths in the woods. We were almost alone there It would be interesting to see it in the main season and meeting other travellers loving nature and spirituality. Helpful staff. That' s a pity we didnt meet the owner as he has Czech origin.

United StatesThe bed & breakfast is in the cloud forest and there are many well marked hiking trails, color-coded by difficulty, accessible in front of the property. We had arrived early evening when it was cooling down and Bedrich had a warm fire burning in the common living area. This place is very cozy and the beds are comfortable. The breakfast and coffee were delicious. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. This is a great place to get away from it all and immerse yourself in nature.

United StatesIt's a wooden shack on 2850m. In the evening it can get chilly. There is a fireplace in the main room by the bedrooms, just need to make sure you have the wood. The host is a cool guy, prepares the breakfast in the morning. I only had a quick stay, but the property with the land is big, and there are hiking trails around.

GermanyIt's a super remote cabin in the mountains with not much else around, so perfect for enjoying the phenomenal views. Bedrich and the staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. There are also trails around which we were unfortunately not able to explore due to our time constraints but are surly worth a hike. All in all a great place to stay.

HungaryI couldn’t get the water heater to work so I had to shower in ice cold water. The smoke from the fireplace rose to the attic rooms. No card payment option.
The forest starts literally outside the door. The trails are varied, some of them are challenging (in a positive way). The pancakes for breakfast were delicious. The main building is all made of wood, it had a great ambience. The fireplace really set the mood in the evening.

SpainThe noise of trucks from the main road, we didn’t expect it to be so close!
The nature around is spectacular. If you are available to stay in a very basic place it’s fine. Just mind it can be very cold and wet!

United StatesThere was nothing I didn't enjoy.
Iyok Ami was a lovely spot to be embraced by the highlands. The well marked and cared for trail system revealed some of the most subtle magic and nourishment from the earth I found while in Costa Rica. I received community, conversation, and connection here. Bring warm clothes for this stay. The food was delicious.

United KingdomNothing. It gets cold but our room had cosy blankets so all good 😊
This place is a gem: a wonderful eco-lodge in the midst of primary rainforest. You can trek straight out of the lodge along several trails, or sit with a coffee watching the hummingbirds. A highlight for us was seeing the resplendent quetzal from the lodge. The food is fantastic, freshly cooked and super healthy. The owner Berdich took us on a walk and pointed out the birds and plants; he is super knowledgeable and passionate about the environment. I can't recommend this place highly enough, it's a gem. We arrived by bus; it's 200m walk from the bus stop.

Costa RicaAll was ok.
The person who was in charge during our stay was very kind and helpful. The place is far away from city, restaurants, markets and things like that, so plates for dinner or breakfast are not varied, but food was very good, They cultivate their own organic vegetables and trout is cultured nearby by neighboring local trout producers. The place is a very cozy little country house, we like to be in cold places, but inside the atmosphere was very comfortable. Birds you can see through the wide windows early in the morning while you are having a delicious coffee with your breakfast are a priceless gift of nature.

SpainIt's was a bit too close to the road and there was a lot of noise from the traffic during the day, although at night it was very quiet.
Beautiful surroundings, they have trails inside the property that are even better that the Quetzales national park. The place was comfortable and welcoming and we immediately felt at home.

Switzerland-
Simple accommodation with a family who, in addition to their house with rooms, also offer other smaller huts with accommodation. Our accommodation was simple, functional but very pleasant. There are enough blankets for the night when the temperatures drop. The owners offer lunch, dinner and breakfast. From the accommodation, there are various hiking trails of different lengths and levels of difficulty into the cloud forest. The vegetation in this cloud forest is breathtaking. It is definitely worth making a stopover here.

CanadaOur main issue was that I booked a room with private bathroom, and the bathroom was down the stairs through a shared living space. This was very awkward for us, but was made up for by the location and staff.
Just incredible. We had dinner there each night, which was always a delicious home-cooked meal, and breakfast was eggs or pancakes depending on the day. Best part is a pair of quetzals in the trees during breakfast, just amazing. The hosts we met on arrival did not speak English, so this may be an issue for some travellers, but luckily my Spanish lessons were good enough, and my husband had no trouble using a translation app if he needed to! The trails were just astounding, and as good (if not better) than the nearby national park.

United KingdomYes it is cold at night!
Wonderful! - like living in someone's mountain lodge high in the forest for a while. I loved the house and the cosy little rooms. There was a view of Volcan Poas (erupting!) and it was great to have short trails available leading right out of the garden, The food was good, the people were kind, it is accessible by bus from a stop about 5 minutes walk down the highway, and it is especially great if you have a car because you can access the different parks nearby. I'll definitely come back.

FranceTravelling by bus can be a bit tricky to access Iyok Ami (but that's part of its charm)
The location is just amazing. Being able to observe wildlife from Iyok Ami is such a bonus (no need to go to the national park). You can take a walk (they have various paths) or just do it from inside. The nature there is breathtaking. Flori and Lucrecia are very sweet and prepare healthy meals for those who don't want to live the place. Good wifi and hot water are available. And a fireplace if the place turns too cold :)

United KingdomThis is a lovely chance to be in the forest high in the hills - in a charming wooden house with some beautiful views: I could see right to Turrialba and Poas vocanos from my room. I liked the wooden lodge architecture and the common area for working and chatting, with good wifi, and great homemade food from Shirley for dinner. The land is great offering a chance to do short but interesting hikes into the raw forest from the house. Yes it gets cold, but heaters are provided. And - travelling by bus - it's not hard to get the buses to drop off and pick up nearby. Perfect!
