How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe location was convenient to the town with a car (5 mins). The pool was great. The communal area was nice. Jungle landscape was lovely. Fresh towels on day 3. Soap on arrival. Gean was great.
The driveway was tricky - steep and slippy, so you need to be a confident driver. This place could be amazing, but a few small things let it down. It feels rudderless and needs better management. We had to repeatedly ask for toilet roll. The girls who are there 'workpacking' didn't do much. I swept up around the pool myself and cleaned the pool twice. The kitchen wasn't wiped down. Everywhere needed a good wipe. Bins were not emptied. No kettle at our chalet. Gean in contrast was a shining light and very helpful - he helped us with washing and was lovely.

Verified reviewIt beautiful retreat place further back from beach in a stunning jungle setting. Quiet environment . Lovely staff . Great to wake up to sounds of howlerr monkeys and jungle from window . And make a tea fro breakfast and eggs looking out at the view and doing a Bit of phone stuff before heading to the beach . There is a pool too and several huts for a few friends to stay together . I hired an electric bike to get up and zoom around .good choice

Verified reviewThe lodging is literally in the forest, but there is car access and has everything you need. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the accommodation is clean and organized. There is a stream that runs through the property, although it carries little water, it is preserved and completes the scene of peace and tranquility. For someone like me who loves nature, I had a great experience!

The property looks very different from the photos in the page. Its very old and filthy. The pool was green and with leaves, the room didnt had wifi, and the sheets were smelly and old. The staff were some foreign volunteers that werent around.
We are sorry that your short stay did not give you satisfaction. You stayed in July, just after a major tropical storm. We could have changed your sheets if they were smelly due to the damp humidity if you had informed us of this problem. We're located in the jungle, and during storms or strong gales, leaves from the surrounding trees fall into the pool. Unfortunately, this is beyond our control, even if we make sure they are regularly removed. Finally, it is clearly stated on the site that wifi is only available in the rancho and not in the bungalows.

Verified reviewWe had a wonderful stay even though it was for 1 night only. We got to see a sloth on the property, my kids were excited. If you're driving, make sure to have a 4x4. Nice jungle experience while still being close enough to beach and restos. Would definitely stay again,

Verified reviewWe loved everything understanding that this facility is not for everyone but it's exactly what we were looking for and the personnel on site were excellent, food excellent, room excellent+, need I say more... The location was just as good being between the BriBri area, Panama border, all the attractions on the Southern Caribbean coast. We could not have asked for more! On my first rolled in, the driveway is a bit humbling and we thought we wouldn't like that it does not have air conditioning but it didn't seem to matter there. Breakfasts are always wonderful with fresh fruits jellies and jams and crepes, we had the pools for ourselves. The staff on site was exceptional (I'm bad at names) and the grounds were kept natural and beautiful. All in all we were there for seven nights and would definitely go back! 👍👍👍👍

Verified reviewAmazing location, amazing lodges in the middle of the jungle, amazing staff, exactly like on the photos. There are a couple of small houses perfectly placed in the jungle far enough from each other for having enough privacy and a little creek running by.. For the kids it was a great area to explore as there were many animals and instects around all the time. Pool is very nice close to the breakfast / common area while the beach is just 4min by car down the road. I want to mention here the two volunteers Pedro and Elsa that were just amazing with our kids. Many thanks to them for making our 2 days there so incredible. All staff is very nice, very attentive and helpful. They were always around and available. Absolutely great price - value ratio.
The location sent with the confirmation is not exact which made it a little hard to find as there is no reception. It is correct on Google and maps.me though. Breakfast was not as extensive (limited to basics) based on what we got in other stays.

Verified reviewIn the middle of the jungle. Awesome place to stay. The pool was a nice extra. The hostesses were awesome. Really felt close to nature. Not a problem but good to know: Wifi only available in communal area - which was very nice to hang out. Kitchen had all utensils you needed, be it a little old. 😊
The bungalows felt a little damp and the shower is a bit cold sometimes 😉

Hello Daniel, Thank you for your comment. It is well specified that there is no air conditioned, because we are in the jungle and the big trees shade the property. We do not need air conditioning. We are 6 kms from Puerto-viejo (10 minutos by coach) We hope however that you had a good stay :-)
