How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

When you flushed the toilet or took a shower the draining water was very loud!

Verified reviewThe room was nice. The pool was great, too :) However, the price was quite high for the not so great location (in comparison to other accommodations we had during our trip). Also, there was no breakfast included.

Verified reviewSylvain’s place was fantastic! As other reviews mention, he is incredibly helpful and made us feel completely at ease from the moment we arrived. It’s a boutique hotel with a relaxed atmosphere, and we ended up spending a good amount of time just unwinding there, playing games, and enjoying the peaceful setting. The rooms were excellent—super clean, well-equipped, and really comfortable. Everything you need for a great stay. If you’re visiting Uvita, I’d definitely recommend hiring a bike to get around—it makes exploring the area so much easier. Overall, a wonderful stay. Thanks, Sylvain!

Shower could be hotter and last a little longer. But it still worked for us.

Verified reviewHotel Faremita is a little oasis in Uvita not too far from the national park. It has beautifully designed rooms with comfortable beds and a functional bathroom. Rooms possess a nice big balcony. Tghe property has a beautiful inner courtyard with a pool to refresh yourself. At night, there is nice lightening, so you can still end the day with a dip in the water. We would definitely recommend Faremiti if you wanna stay in a cozy environment in walking distance from Parque La Ballena. We will surely revisit when travelling again to Uvita.

Verified reviewWe stayed in the Laguna apartment. Everything was so impeccable, beautiful, and clean. It was a fantastic feeling to wake up naturally to the birds singing. We had breakfast every morning in a different panaderia (bakery) nearby. The hotel is near everything in Uvita, 2-7 min by car. The most appreciative part of my wife was the included laundry service; we just paid a tip to the cleaning ladies. High-speed wifi was nice. This hotel was a better home away from home for us. We will surely stay there again the next time we are in Uvita.

Verified reviewThe pictures don’t serve the property justice, it’s much better in person. The bungalow is very spacious and ideal for a family of 5 adults, with its own private patio space and access to the pool and hot tub. Very quiet and private and a perfect place to spend Christmas.
There is nothing we didn’t like about the property.

There was nooone there in terms of staff to give any recommendations, or answer questions. In comparison to other places I stayed at, it was less friendly and social. For a solo traveller it wasn’t great as I didn’t know the area well and the hotel did not help at all.
Hi Laura, i'm really sorry to hear this. Unfortunately i had to go back to france for some family issue. In other times, i try to be as helpful as i can with my visitors!

Verified reviewCosy boutique hotel, good location, clean.
Water drips from your tap while you would have expected it running and you can't take shower. Not to mention that the flushing mechanism in your toilet bowl is supplied by the same plumbing. Very disappointing, particularly in the morning. Even if this was a kind of water mains failure, the hotel management should be willing to compensate this loss of basic functionality. However, there was no sign of anybody except the cleaning staff.
Hi Arkadiusz, I was away abroad during your stay, sorry i was not there to assure communication. Sorry to hear about the water problem. On that day, the local water company was doing some fixes on the main pipes, that's the reason why you had low pressure on the taps. Really sorry for this.

Verified reviewUvita, as we found out, it kind of spread out… separated by a highway. We liked the actual room and pool- both were very clean, fresh, and up to date.
The location is within walking distance to the Whale Tail, but many other food options are best accessed by car (which we had). So if you’re walking, bring your comfy walking shoes. If you don’t speak Spanish well, you can communicate with the front desk, but you won’t get much in the way of advice for places to eat, etc.
