How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

The host was very helpful and friendly, it was a nice place to arrive in Costa Rica. We felt very safe and we got a lot of advice for our trip in Costa Rica. The proximity to the airport was a plus, there was even a free taxi service to the airport, which made this stay even more wonderful.

There is some noise at the hotel due to its location close to the airport, road and railway. On the other hand, transportation to and from the airport is almost within walking distance.
Hosts were so kind and helped us with car rental, and general info on Costa Rica. Great breakfast. A very good start for first-timers in this beautiful country.

It was the perfect place to rest after 24hours of travelling. The location is really convenient, right by the airport. It’s clean and comfortable! The owner is so helpful and friendly! It was a great first night for me in Costa Rica

Having a second option for breakfast, such as cereal or oatmeal, would be good.
Friendly, helpful, clean, comfortable. For leaving or entering the country, it couldn't be more convenient. Easy walk to small markets to pick up necessities. As a single female traveler, the free transportation to the airport with a friendly driver is a terrific bonus.

The owner Peter was just incredible. Despite an 8 hours delay flight he has been waiting for me all night til 3:30 am. It was so stressful to arrive in an unknown country at this time of the day. He gave me instructions to take a uber from the airport and in no time I was at his place. His wife made the first Costa Rica morning wonderful.

Some noise from the road, but the location was so convenient.
Very friendly owner who opened the gate in the wee hours for us after a late flight. The breakfast patio was lovely and the pool was so inviting.

The staff were so kind and helpful. There is a pond and big swing. My kids loved feeding the fish. They don’t want to leave. It is close to a supermarket so was perfect for our first night.

the owners of the property are too nice and warm! there is not a single flaw that I can find! the breakfast very good, complete and fast and the rooms large and clean! also a great proximity to the airport and car rental! we will definitely return soon!

Great location near the airport and car hire. Busy road but once you're inside the gates it's a little oasis. Friendly, welcoming host, beer and wine available in a fridge if you're thirsty at a very reasonable price, fabulous breakfast. A wonderful welcome to beautiful Costa Rica.

It is noisy as it is right on the flight path. Woke up several times in the early morning to a very loud airplane overhead. It is close to the airport which is what I wanted, so I just made the best of it
Very clean with nice sized rooms. Breakfast was really good. It was great for my overnight after a long flight!

This has been our choice for two years now while visiting CR. Great spot to spend the night upon arrival and then again the night before departure. Wonderful breakfast and the free airport shuttle is most welcomed and appreciated. The best part: Flor and Peter. They are the best hosts you could hope for. Friendly, helpful, and accommodating - they will take good care of you!!

For an early morning flight out, the location was perfect. It would be just as convenient and accessible for incoming flights. The apartment was clean, comfortable and well equipped. I was able to get food with just 5 minute walk up the street. I greatly appreciate the owners arranging for a pre dawn taxi ride to the airport. I arrived early the day before and was allowed to sit in the pool area until check-in time, which was a plus. As a single woman, I felt safe. Aiirport noise was obvious, but I had anticipated that in booking a room so close to sjo.

Need more comfy pillows. The planes were extremely loud as I believe the hotel is in the path of the planes.
Very kind and helpful staff. Close to the airport. Free shuttle. Big space. Hot shower. We didn't use the pool, but it was very clean. Breakfast was good.
