How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewFelt remote even though we were just minutes from town. Fun experience to stay in something so different. All the amenities you’d need. Owners were amazingly helpful and sweet. Had good local info. The property has some really cool features and is perfect for a romantic couples trip.
The heat inside the ‘dome’ is intense mid-day and A/C at that time doesn’t help much. Just plan on being out doing things at that time. If they could make the bed more stable and get a slightly thicker mattress it’d be perfect.

Verified reviewKelly and Javier are great, very nice hosts. The dome is very cozy and cute. The hosts are great at giving a tour of the place and make you feel at home. Overall I think the price is good for what it offers and the hosts are very sweet.
We actually checked in but didn’t stay our 2 nights here because we found roaches inside the dome. We’re fine with there being some spiders and bugs in corners and stuff, but roaches are a big no no for my girlfriend. It is what it is- some people may be fine, some may not. But we expected the area inside the dome to atleast be pest free. Besides that, the other things we didn’t like: Bathroom is a bit annoying to access at night, especially with bugs on the outside and the top is partially open so it’s a little annoying to shower as bugs can get in. Stairs to get to the camp/terrace are very steep and shallow width, so need to be very very careful not to slip. This may be on me but I thought there was a hot tub but turned out to just be a pool (not sure if advertised as pool, maybe my bad) Lastly, the gate is a pain to work with, so if you plan to be in and out a lot with your car, keep that in mind (needs to be unbolted, unlocked, locked etc)

Verified reviewI loved staying at Cocolhu. Waking up to the sound of birds and howler monkeys was an amazing experience. The views from the deck and viewing terrace were incredible! The Wi-Fi was solid and the property was just far enough from town that you felt removed from the hustle and bustle but close enough to access all the amenities if you wanted to. Javi and Kelly were amazing hosts and you can tell that they want to make sure you have the best experience while visiting.

Verified reviewLoved the unique set up with separate spaces for cooking, sleeping, lounging, star gazing ++ and VERY private and spacious
The access road is quite rough, so make sure your vehicle has high clearance, but the location is worth it

Verified reviewLoved the host's friendly dogs and amenities provided.
It was a bit difficult to park, and the lock system was stressful. Getting in and out was a process that often took 5-10 minutes, even after knowing what to do. Getting the lock to fit should be easier.
Hi Ryan! Thanks for the remark, we will take care of the issue. Hope you the best. See you soon :)

Verified reviewThe property is really private, a great experience for couples that wants to run from the crowds and the neighbors. Definitely the best choice we could have at Tamarindo. Facilities were amazing and the owners really took care of that place.
Nothing to complain. Just don't recommend for people that travel without car because you'll need it to move from the property to the beach.

Verified reviewWe stayed here for 2 weeks and had an amazing time. Serenaded by monkeys in the morning and evening it was a secluded stay away from the bustle of the main tourist areas. The owners were amazing and friendly. We received excellent suggestions on where to eat and go. If you are up for the experience of glamping this is the perfect opportunity.

Verified reviewWe booked Cocolhu because we wanted to experience the nature and wild life of Tamarindo and is was for sure a good choice. Cocolho is the best glamping facility in Tamarindo. The place is very well equipped and exceeded our expectations. The sunset and sunrise was spectacular. It was a little rainy and we sat under the stars in the rain and enjoy the nature and sounds of the several animals around. At 4:30 AM we started hearing the monkeys and birds and that was a unique experience. The owners live close by and are very friendly and helpful. If you have to reach the location you can better take the route from Tamarindo, because it is better assessable, especially in rainy season. You don't need to worry about food in case you don't want the leave at night because you can order from a great variety of restaurants. You can also book Yoga classes and massage. If you are staying for short term you can arrange also in advance. Just contact the property owners and let them inform you or guide you. We had a very unforgettable great stay in Cocolhu. We recommend this location highly.
every thing was great.
