The other one didn’t have hot water, ceiling fan was broken, faucet was broken, water was shooting out, fortunately we reserved only one night.

We reserved 2 bungalows, each is a triple room. Everything works in one but not the other.

We had critters screaming at our door in the middle of the night as we were really in the jungle.

Such a great staff! We loved Ariel, as he made such great area recommendations on request!

This place is wonderful, very reasonably priced. The casitas are cozy and simple, Caribbean-style. The staff was very friendly. The location is perfect, just steps from Playa Chiquita and minutes from Puerto Viejo and Cocles, but away from the hustle and bustle of the crowds, which gave us a lot of peace and happiness. In front of the casitas, we had the honor of seeing a hummingbird nesting, as well as many other species of birds and monkeys. There's also parking. We liked everything about it. If you're looking for a basic place surrounded by gardens and nature, this is your place.

Everything is great at Hotel Casitas Mar y Luz, the only thing I will improve is the WiFi. I've got a call disconnected due internet connection. With that being fixed I will recommend this place to all remote workers in the world :)

Bungalows are near from a paradise beach call Playa Chiquita, you can walk from the hotel without taking your car out of the parking. The kitchen is fully equipped. Beds are comfortable. They are pet friendly and our pet had a great time in there.

    Can’t say that I didn’t like anything

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The like casitas are rustic and comfortable, the kitchenette well stocked and handy. While some people might turn their noses up at the simplicity of the places, we’re from New Mexico and prefer less. The only suggestion I have is rather than an extra twin bed in the room, it would be nice to have a simple seating area instead. The mosquitoes in the evening can be brutal making outdoor dining very hard unless you are covered in repellent. Joys of the jungle, but so with hearing the howler monkeys and birds in the morning!

The floor standing fan was somewhat noisy and the shower did not include a soap bar, so we had to purchase one. Aside from that, everything was excellent.

At night it is quite silent, so you can fully appreciate the sounds of nature. Rooms are surrounded by a lush and very well-kept garden. Kitchenette is equipped with what you need to prepare simple treats or dishes (like pasta or sandwiches) if that is what pleases you. No microwave, though, but that really is not an issue at all. There are several restaurants and pizza places nearby.

The mosquitoes at night but that is par for the course in the jungle

Everything about this place is magical and the staff are the best. They made me feel very special, William went beyond his call of duty to ensure I was safe and well looked after. The quaint casitas are nestled in the most beautiful gardens with a hammock to relax in on your own private porch. Everything is well thought out and clean. Hiring a bike is a fabulous way to get around. Chiquita beach is a 5 minute walk away and in my opinion was the best stretch of beach with the jungle creating shade close to the waters edge. I had many a fantastic walks along the beaches there. Everything you would need is in close proximity even Peurto Viejo town is only a 20 minute cycle on quiet roads.

A beautiful little oasis on the Caribbean coast. The typical Caribbean bungalows are surrounded by nature: In the morning you are woken up by monkeys and a hummingbird greets you at breakfast. The bungalows have a nice terrace where you can eat your meals (kitchen is available) or relax in the hammock. The very nice beach area is a few minutes walk away.

The ants in the cabin, yet property manager and staff can't control that.

The location, how close to the beach it was. Their dog guided our family to the beach and back. She even protected us from an unknown creature that crossed the path on our way there! Property Manager was friendly and helpful, as well as all staff. EXCELLENT SERVICE AND GREAT STAFF 👍🏽 there's a restaurant super close, walking distance, Italian, AMAZING food. The cabins are very small, although they can accommodate 4 people, I think they would be better suited for 2 people. They are very close to each other, and since some of the walls are just screens, without glass or other material covering them, it is very noisy. Some days I woke up in the middle of the night to the barking of a dog from another cabin (the place is pet friendly), and other days I woke up to guests from other cabins talking very early. The place is not very clean, we had a cockroach, and it smells musty. The towels were very old. Although the reservation was for 4 people, there were only 3 plates.

    Good location, friendly staff.

When we booked the room I didn’t realize it was an open air cabin; so it was akin to staying at a cabin on a campsite. The bathroom walls don’t reach the ceiling so there’s no privacy from whoever you’re staying with.

The location and staff were exceptional.

Under all circumstances bring your own mosquito bed net! Without you won't get any sleep at night. I lived there for a week so a few things got annoying even though on a 1 or 2 night stay it wouldn't have been a big deal to me. For instance the bathroom is painted all red and very dark light so in the only mirror of the cabin you always look red, no chance to see if you got sunburned. Also the hammock is very dirty and it is the only comfortable place to relax outside at your porch. But what upset me the most was that the payment terms were not followed. The amount debited in advance was not in USD as stated, instead they used CRC with a very old exchange rate which cost me 15 USD more compared to the booking confirmation.

For me the Caribbean coast is the most beautiful area in Costa Rica. Especially the beaches are just stunning! The accommodation had everything I needed but not more. It is fine but don't expect too much. The people working there were nice and helpful. To the closest beach it's a 10 minute walk.
