Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandIt would be nice if every Casita had the possibility to cook somewhere. Other than that, everything was wonderful!
The casitas are wonderful! They aren't too big but neither too small, for us two it was just enough space. The location is great! Away from the road (noise) yet not too far. And they are in a beautiful tropical garden!! (Even monkeys and sloths visited the trees over and around the casitas:) The beach (playa negra) is very close and beautiful. The "city" of puerto viejo is about a 10 -20 minutes walk and you can even do the walk along the playa negra. The hosts Gane and Vittorio are very very friendly and help with everything!

GermanyNothing! It’s a magical place!
This was truly a wonderful place to stay! You are completely immersed in Costa Rican nature wildlife! I saw sloths, humming birds, agoutis and strawberry dart frogs just in the garden. I felt very safe here as a solo female traveler. The huts are decorated nicely and the clay water filters are a great touch, so you don’t have to keep buying drinking water! It’s a little out of the town, which is what I wanted! But only a 5 minute walk to Playa Negra and 15minute walk into Puerto Viejo. It’s also worth renting a bike and cycling down the coast to other beaches. The hostess is one of the sweetest and most helpful people I’ve met. She gives so many recommendations. The additional breakfast options are delicious, affordable and absolutely worth getting! Try the pancakes 🌸✨🦥 Not something that bothered me personally, as I wanted this sort of authentic experience in Costa Rica!! But you will hear the rainstorms on the roofs, the sounds of the jungle all night and be woken by the howler monkeys as your early morning alarm!

United KingdomBeautiful cabins, amazing nature all around, wild animals and birds doing their own thing around the garden all day and night (saw a sloth, agoutis, armadillos, toucans), good kitchen appliances and utensils, the owner is super helpful accommodating and very responsive to queries. So close to the beach and just outside Puerto viejo to avoid the hoards of tourists and chaos of cars

We loved being in the rainforest and listening to the jungle sounds. The host was very responsive and helpful. I liked having a porch and also a fan at night for sleeping. The shower was good and the bed comfortable. Close to town and restaurants.

United StatesFor the price you pay, the bungalows are a bit worn out and would deserve some renovation, especially the bathroom and the kitchen.
The bungalows are surrounded by nature, so it's very peaceful there and one can truly relax. Not many human-made sounds but very buzzy when it comes to all wildlife. From our porch, we saw a sloth, an armadillo, monkeys, agoutis, hummingbirds... We loved that!

CanadaThis was my favourite accommodation throughout my entire trip to Costa Rica. The location was perfect and felt very safe and secure as a solo female traveller. The owners were absolutely lovely and so so helpful!!! They were extremely responsive on What’s App and made sure I had anything I needed within minutes. I had an issue with the toilet and they were able to check it very promptly and provide an alternative option until it was fixed. They treated their guests like family and took care of all their needs with warm and welcoming smiles and greetings. The bungalow was perfect, it felt like a little home in the jungle. I loved relaxing on the balcony in the hammock, watching the tropical storms and wildlife move through the jungle. Tuk tuks were readily available to the property but you can also walk to town within 20-25 mins all the way by beach or along the streets which I loved. There was a small supermarket about a 10 min walk away with enough to provide for my stay. I absolutely loved my time here and was so sad to leave.

NicaraguaNothing!
Like camping in the jungle with a roof and full kitchen!! And I mean that in the best possible way. To be surrounded by nature and barely able to see the next cabin through the foliage, to spot agoutis trotting past our door, toucans and sloths in the trees overhead, to watch masterful spiders spinning their huge webs, to hear the howler monkeys roaring at dawn - it was all delightful. We loved our stay in this lovely quiet green oasis, just a few minutes' walk from gorgeous Playa Negra with great swimming and beach walking.

AustriaWe really loved staying at Casitas Las Flores. This was my favourite accomodation of our Costa Rica trip. The hosts were extremely nice and even helped us, when we had a problem with our rental car. You can preorder the breakfast and it is very good. They also have a very friendly cat and you can spot some animals in the garden like humming birds or agutis :) During the night you can listen to the calming sounds of nature because the casitas are located in a little forest and 5-10 Minutes away from the next beach by foot. I highly recommend staying here! :)

United KingdomThe nearest neighbours were noisy one evening, but Priscilla had a word with them which sorted them out.
This location is great, set back from the main road so no traffic/noise, surrounded by trees and wildlife. No need to visit the national parks just hangout on your veranda and watch the humming birds, the white-collared manakins courtship dance, sloths, agouti go by, and listen to the howlers. The accommodation is set up really well, lots of cooling breeze through the mess windows and fully sealed so no mosquitos getting in. The owners Vittorio & Priscilla were helpful and lovely hosts.

Czech RepublicBe aware that this place is for true nature lovers. The windows do not have glass. You will hear all kinds of noises at night from the jungle as well meet all kinds of animals and insect at the property.
Very cosy place with very helpful and welcoming owners. Loved the little patio and the residential cat! It is great that it doesn’t get overheated as the place stays in a shadow for the whole day. Supermarket, beach and city center in a walking distance. Possible to rent bikes :)
