How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

I don‘t know where to start. We wanted to negotiate a better room since there were vacancies for the same price on booking.com we paid before. Booking.com was okay with it, but the property was not. We were travelling with locals and they just got the room we were asking for although they did not reserve before 🤷♀️. So good that I spent much money for talking on the phone with a nice lady from booking and then the costumer service was that bad. There was no live music although it was announced. The pool and its surroundings smelled like literally shit, they must have problems with the water there. Everywhere were flies, no one did a thing about it even after we asked. They just said they are used to it (at another place we stayed they put at least some candles and burners on to make them go away). The standard room we had leaked in the bathroom. The bed was made out of stone with a mattress on top. Way too pricey for whats offered.

We are also sorry that the live music was not available and that the conditions of the pool and your bathroom were not up to standard. Regarding the fly infestation, we want to clarify that this is a widespread phenomenon affecting the entire area and is not related to the cleanliness or maintenance of our facilities. The local Ministry of Health is aware and actively working to resolve it. On our part, we are conducting constant fumigations and taking additional measures to mitigate the situation and ensure our guests are more comfortable. We appreciate your detailed feedback as it helps us identify areas that need urgent improvement. We value you giving us the opportunity to clarify the situation with the flies and regret that we were unable to provide you with the experience you expected. We hope that, despite everything, you will consider giving us another opportunity in the future to show you the improvements we will implement.

Verified reviewWe really liked the location direct at the viby beach. That was itself a big plus. Our bungalow was nicely located, privat and up to date. The pool area is very nice.
In general the resort is a bit 'rustical' in maintaining. 3 stars it is. I believe we where lucky with our room/bungalow because it looks not every option has the same level. Prices are pretty high but i believe that is Costa Rica and the location so close (only cross the street) of this popular beach. Bed was really squecky in our room.

The staff were super friendly, offering advice on tours and attractions and also pointing out sloths in the trees😄 You can walk through the property straight onto the beach which was a bonus! Maybe the one issue is the drinking water, there is no drinking water in the room, you have to go to get it to dispensers scattered across the hotel
