Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsThe aircon is in the living room, so our bedrooms were still quite warm at night. Between the rooms, there was a curtain instead of a door. The shower is at a nice temperature but you can't change it yourself.
The cabins were nice. Clean and enough supplies. The beds were good and place to park. Tana is very friendly and gave us lots of useful tips.

Tana was really a great host! Super friendly and she had nice tips on tours and where to eat. She also gave us a ride to the bus station so we didn't have to walk. In the room you have everything you need for a couple of nights in Uvita. There is also an outside kitchen which you can use.

CanadaWe really liked the property but be aware that many of the sights and activities ( e.g., waterfalls) are best accessible with a car. The property is not right in the centre of the town who is spread out so access to the National park , Whale Tail or beyond can be challenging but still doable. There is some noise from nearby businesses starting around 6:00 a.m. so if you are a light or late sleeper this may be of concern. General activity starts early with sunrise a bit before due to the heat in this part of Costa Rica. My wife is a light sleeper but the morning noise didn’t bother her. Rooms without AC can be hot in the afternoon to late evening.
A good host makes a good property. Tana, Casa Morpho’s owner is an excellent host who provided a wealth of information on the first day, including some gems like a secret local swimming hole not on anyone’s radar. I’m not sharing as I’d like to return one day and still have this to ourselves without anyone there. However, Tana may let you in on it if you stay here. We originally booked a non A/C room but Tana was kind enough to upgrade us at no additional cost after a cancellation for the only AC suite which had 2 bedrooms. The facilities are excellent with a fridge, cooktop in your private kitchen in suite and a shared microwave in a communal kitchen / dining area. The advice and itinerary planning provided by Tana were invaluable and she helped to customize to our likes/ dislikes. Her dogs are also amazing and so friendly. If you don’t like dogs you should be aware that these small dogs will greet you with many licks in the morning or afternoon but if you are neutral or love dogs you will find them to be incredibly heartwarming. Highly recommended if in Uvita.

AustraliaTana was an absolute super host! Gave so much valuable local information to help us make our stay really special. She was very generous with her time, going out of her way to take me grocery shopping on arrival. The space lovely and great value for money. Beautiful lush gardens create a peaceful atmosphere. It’s quiet at night. The aircon was very effective and we were grateful to have it. The kitchenette was well stocked with all the essentials for cooking and food storage which helped us to stick to our budget in a country where that wasn’t so easy. The location was great- easy access to the beach and while we had a car, I we could have got by pretty easily without one, especially if we’d rented a push bike. Beautiful walking tracks and natural swimming holes a 5minute walk from the property. We saw toucans, morpho’s and more. Thankyou so much! I hope to be back soon.

United StatesAbsolutely wonderful hostess with two very friendly dogs. She was very helpful giving recommendations, showing me the area, helping to book local experiences, and generally being an absolute joy to talk to (alongside the other wonderful people I got to meet at this place!) This guesthouse is in an excellent location just off the main costal highway, but still private with an excellent view of the jungle and a great walking path and lots to explore nearby.

CanadaCASA MORPHO has a beautiful jungle setting as a backdrop. There are birds and butterflies around every day. I loved my room. The outdoor kitchen is so easy to use and comfortable. And TANA, the owner, was such a wonderful host. She was helpful and showed me all the interesting things I could do in Uvita. It’s just a few steps from a bagel stop on the other side of the road and there is a supermarket down the street.

United KingdomWe loved our stay at Casa Morpho, we couldn’t recommend it highly enough. Tana is a backpackers dream host, she had all the best recommendations and was so generous with her time. The accommodation was very clean and comfortable, styled and finished to perfection. The kitchen was well equipped, the property is very close to a big supermarket and good options of restaurants. Also a 15 min walk to the beach - but note you have to pay entry.

United StatesNo problems for us. Definitely recommend arriving before dark.
Host was very kind and helpful of the local activities. Has two small dogs which made my kid very happy. I think this was a good location on the edge of this forest region. Stream near by, short walk. Good for us based on cost. Lots of forest animals here, if you know how to look. The community is good for being that far south. It is up and coming, you can see the locals really care about it. Money starting to flow in. So many locations along the way south were pretty rough around the edges. Dominical was likely the beach area where more money has been invested, after the Miguel Antonio location.

United KingdomTana’s cabin was comfortable, spacious, and very clean. The kitchen area is really well equipped and also kept very clean, cooking here was enjoyable and easy. The atmosphere is chilled out and Tana couldn’t have been a better host. She catered to all our needs, really welcoming us into the town and showing off the best spots to make sure we could profit from our stay here. She is extremely knowledgeable about the local area, including the national park, waterfalls and beaches. Tana took it upon herself to ensure we saw the best of Uvita, and went above and beyond to help us with places to visit, and where to eat.

Costa RicaTana is the nicest host and Sofie is the sweetest paw friend. Sofie likes hanging around with us and she was very gentle and well behaved towards our small kids. The place is close to restaurants and supermarkets, and a walking distance to the main road and to a natural stream. It is also close to a waterfall and close to nature in general. Our cabin had an AC and a fan to circulate the cold air to the rooms (we had 2 bedrooms in our cabin). We had a functional kitchen and a fridge in our cabin and there is also a shared one outside. The pots and pans were new and so were the plates and cups. We prepared meals in our kitchenette with ease. The place is old but spotless. The beds are comfortable and the linens and curtains are of high quality. The towels were older but clean and soft. We wished there were screens on the bathroom and kitchen windows so we can open them without letting bugs and mosquitos in. Not a big deal though. We managed😀. Hooks to hang towels would have been nice😊but again it's not a big deal. We were creative and resourceful so were fine. Putting chairs inside would have crowded the area so we sat on the sofa bed to eat our meals. We used the cute coffee table and and bedside tables to make a makeshift dining table. Again, we were very adaptable and resourceful to stay on top of any situation. We could have sat outside too on the shared area. There was a construction going on in the neighborhood but it did not bother us because we were up early and almost were not there during the day. Tana is the new owner and she is really making an effort in turning an old place look nice and feel comfortable. She makes sure you feel at home. She is still in the process of making everything perfect and we wish her the very best of luck.
