Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaThe trails were unkempt and many were blocked off.
It was incredible to stay at the foothills of a volcano and see hot, bubbling mud come up from the thrust of thermal vents! Wow. The steam room was build over steamy vents—memorable be so integrated into nature. The rooms were small houses and quite large

Costa RicaFew things that struck me: 1) We would prefer a king size mattress option. 2) The food was ok, but not great. Slow to get things like butter, salt, picante, water, etc. 3) Towels only available at reception, which is a long distance from the pools. 4) It is a very steep property, ideal for guests who want a good hike to enjoy the features. But, if it's raining, or you just don't want to walk the steep incline, it would be good to have a way to contact shuttle service. The recreation area was rarely staffed during our visits to the hot springs. 5) There are some areas that need a little love (chipped or peeling concrete, broken wood, exposed screws on deck, etc.)
The property is remote, but very easy to find with effective signs marking the entire trip. Road is a bit bumpy, but I don't believe you would need 4x4 unless there were heavy rains and mud. The check-in was efficient and welcoming. You park your car and are then shuttled to your room by van. The cabina was generous size, clean and well appointed. Coffee maker and (very) small refrigerator provided. The mattresses are very comfortable and we slept well. The pool, hot springs, dining, etc are all dispersed around the large property, creating an open campus like feel. Wildlife is abundant!! We saw spider and howler monkeys, many iguanas, rabbits, many birds (including a marvelous Tiger Heron that hung out with us for a whole afternoon at the pool). The restaurant is large and has good views, room service was available as well.

United StatesIt is a bit far from everything else. Didn’t love the restaurant, and we have to drive 40 min to get to the next one.
It was a wonderful place to relax with the thermal springs and mud bath—favorite swimming pool so far in Costa Rica (one of our favorites in the world). Saw monkeys swinging while we were swimming. Great horse tour!

United StatesThe drive was a little steep, definitely needs 4 wheel drive, but most of it was well paved and it looks like they are paving more. Still, a little adventurous! We went during rainy season, so some of the hiking trails were closed - sad, but safety first!
Everything was beautiful, the staff was all so kind, and the food was delicious! The wildlife was something to behold, the pool and hot baths were wonderful too! Very relaxing!

The resort grounds are beautiful and we saw so much wildlife just on the property itself. The cabins are very comfortable and clean. The staff were all very friendly.

United StatesGetting around the grounds is hilly and by foot. If you are mobility challenged this property may not be for you. The night lighting is poor.
The scenery and landscaping is phenomenal. The natural sauna is incredible. The food was delicious and the staff more than friendly and accommodating. The mattress and sheets made me melt into a sound slumber. The birds and monkeys are a joy to hear and watch. Truly a wonderful experience.

United StatesAs others have mentioned, there is a lack of shade in the pool area.
The location is a bit remote from any points of interests or small towns, but the grounds and features of the resort itself make you want to stay. The landscaping and lay of this hillside property is truly beautiful. Without leaving the resort we saw plenty of wildlife... monkeys, parrots, toucans, iguanas, etc. Despite reading some reviews that the food was not too highly regarded, we never had a bad meal... my wife and I rate the food and drinks a solid 9. The open-air restaurant is lovely., especially in the evenings. The breakfast buffet offers 10 or 12 nice items daily, as well a someone who cooks eggs and omelets to order. The huge freshwater pool is beautiful. We used it for hours at a time... as well as the swim-up pool bar, where drink prices are inline with any nice facility. We also spent time at the two thermal pools and used the mud bath facility one occasion. None of these features was every overcrowded... we were often alone or part of a small number of people. The steam hut is really amazing... a simple wood shack located directly atop natural boiling steam features. You can hear the boiling sounds beneath you as you take in the steam. Our personal cabin was beautifully done inside with a nice small deck. The bed, pillows and linens were nice too. The bathroom was plenty large for two. The a.c. worked very well. The cabins and rooms are all scattered along a hillside with one main winding road through the property. No cars are allowed, so you can either walk or use their free shuttle service at any time. We stayed 3 nights here as part of a 10 day Costa Rican getaway... we could easily have stayed longer. Many guests used this resort as a base to explore other day trips. We really enjoyed just relaxing here all day and all night. This was out fourth visit to Costa Rica. We have stayed at many different locations at a wide variety of prices per night, for what it has to offer, we felt this place was a real value for the money.

This is spectacular one of the kind place. But they testing high prices, which is well to high. Is far away from everything and remote. Should be 25% less. A specially we are also spending money for food etc. The good thing I admire…, they are NOT tourists trup and don’t take advantage of remote locations. Room service DEFINITELY to experience and over priced.
