Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SurinameWe had food in the premium level and it was a small buffet. Not every time there was a card telling which meat there was cooked. It was mostly beef or a mix of beef, pork and chicken. We do not eat beef, so after our complaint and speaking to the chef, they changed the menu for us.
The breakfast was really good with healthy food, such as chickpea, courgette, broccoli, potato, eggs, fruits, pancakes, etc. The coffee was delicious. The bed was soft, the room was very large. There was a sitting sofa. We were at six floor, which had a premium level with lots of food and drinks. The swimming pool area had hammocks, really relaxing.

NetherlandsWhen we arrived, promptly at check in we were told that the room wasnt ready (only after a few hours later), which was inconvenient for us. Our assessment was that there were insufficient housekeeping staff. We were a bit dissapointed that we were not even compensated for this inconvenince what we expect from a 5 star hotel. Also, when we enquired later at their restaurant about the buffet price, I was informed by a member of the staff which later at the actual visit proved to be entirely different. The person at whom i enquired denied having making this mistake. Should not happen at a 5 star hotel.
We liked the cleanliness of the room (the way the housekeepimg staff made the effort to make the room clean), the ameneties, the variety of the breakfast, the pool and the location. We also very much valued the service rendered by Mario who drove the shuttle for pick up and drop off at the airport.

PolandThe room service could be better. We are a family of three and only received two towels. We had to wait a long time for an extra towel despite multiple requests. But eventually, we did get it.
The hotel exceeded our expectations, even though it’s not brand new anymore. It’s located in a good spot, convenient both to the airport and the city center. There are shops nearby. Our favorite dining experience was at the El Rancho restaurant.

United StatesThe rooms smelled like coffee and were musty smelling and the hotel was land locked by busy expressways, but otherwise would stay again! Also I wished the bathroom doors locked. They had no locks on them.
Great accommodations! Very friendly and helpful staff!

United StatesWe needed to stay only one evening before catching our flight early the next morning. It’s a very large hotel, with several restaurants and a gym equipped with steam and sauna area. It was a lovely stay, very clean and gracious staff. Our shuttle to the airport was complimentary. Would recommend.

United KingdomWood-panelled business/airport-style hotel that has seen better days and is right on the edge of the city, next to busy main roads, with no public transport to get into the centre, so you are reliant on taxis (don't try to walk it!). Good only for a stopover if you are heading off the next morning, or for the free shuttle (which needs to be booked in advance) to the international airport.

United StatesThe hotel's exceptional staff made my stay truly unforgettable.
On my last day, I found out that the roller bag's chain was ripped out, rendering it unusable unless I purchased a new bag or had it repaired. Fortunately, I reached out to the lobby receptionist, who directed me to the service staff. They kindly provided duct tape to fix the chain temporarily, which was sufficient to get my luggage from the Barcelo to the airport and home. I'm truly grateful for the staff's kind and helpful work. Thank you.

CanadaI was travelling with a large party and contacted the hotel multiple times before arrival to reserve the airport shuttle for us. I never received a response and despite early check in the shuttle was booked. We had to pay $45 US for a private shuttle for our party. The hotel key allows access only to the lobby and your room floor which is great for security but problematic if you are a large party with rooms on different floors. A different wifi password is provided for each room but only allowed 3 guests per password- wifi was also not very stable. Pool closes at 5 pm which is very early when check in is 2 pm.
Location is close to airport. Complimentary breakfast and lounge was great. Master suites are very nice.

Trinidad and TobagoI had requested a room wirh a beautiful city view, but the view I had was passable, not solpecial, but perhaps better rooms with a view were not available at the time.
The hotel was very nicely appointed, with a lovely lobby area, and a clean and comfortable bedroom. Meals were varied, ample and tasty. I also enjoyed the very talented female pianist playing live on the evenings I was a guest.

MexicoThe price of food and beverage is a little too high for the quality you actually get, plus do you not really have many options unless you ride a car to go somewhere else outside the property. Same goes for any other extra services, such a massage, be ready to pay for high prices or to seek outside vendors for a good value option.
Overall a really nice, and iconic property. Its surroundings and views give you a perfect balance between an urban location and Costa Rica natural charm. The property does not feel new, but feels clean, well maintained, and the staff is really kind. . The pool area is perhaps the best hidden feature not every gust actually takes advantage of. I would consider booking again eventually.

United StatesFront desk was always understaffed. When we requested a mat for the slippery tub it was never delivered despite the front desk having taken the request and assuring us that they understood the request. This hotel is quite a distance from downtown and the nearby on-ramp to the highway was often as clogged as the highway itself, making a taxi ride to San Jose a long, expensive process.
Rooms and beds were very comfortable. The bartender made excellent mojitos and frozen drinks, something that was never true in three other hotels we stayed in Costa Rica! The garden and walking paths were a beautiful oasis with benches to sit on and exotic tropical blossoms throughout. There was live musical entertainment in the beautiful lobby every evening with very talented musicians. The complimentary van service from the airport to the hotel was prompt and the driver was very polite despite our 9:30 PM arrival time and the extreme amount of traffic.

SwitzerlandReception/ rooms a bit outdated If you have an access to the 6th floor lounge, this is a very average one. Don’t expect too much! We had with our booking a 10 % reduction on the restaurants. The hotel claimed this was not true (though flagged on our Booking document. We sent notes to both the hotel and Booking.com complaints.. no feedback from either til end of our stay.
Possibility for late check out, much appreciated. Rooms are large with big window.
