Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsThe shower was very dated and gave almost no water. The tiling of the shower was bad just as the showerdoor. There was a leak in the floor of the shower that made the whole bathroom wet. You had to put towels on the floor because of the leaking tiles.
The location is great. The house was clean. Good airconditioning. Breakfast was also good. Host was available anytime.

NetherlandsOn arrival, the reception area seemed to be still under renovation. However, it later turned out that this space was being used for a sale by the furniture shop next door. This was a bit strange in our opinion. However, we were not inconvenienced by this.
We were able to check in earlier as the room was already ready. This was very nice. Also, the room was fully equipped. The hotel has a beautifully landscaped garden with a swimming pool. During breakfast, for example, we saw monkeys.

CanadaThe road outside the hotel is really, really busy & none of us felt like it was safe to walk around. There were no/few sidewalks and cars speeding around windy corners. We only went out in our vehicle (In the properties defence, I think that we would have the same problem no matter what property we booked). It's about a 15 minutes drive to Manuel Antonio park. Wifi was hit & miss but mostly poor. We had to pay for data in order to have reliable internet. That said, there were 6 of us into the room and all competing for the wifi. The living room furniture was run down and really uncomfortable. There was no AC in the living room. It was really hot and an unusable space on full sun days. There was no coffee table or dinner table. We both had to work while we were away and wished there was a table sit at. No shower curtain in the bathroom & water got everywhere & the floor was always wet. No cutlery or wine bottle opener in the 'kitchen' area in our room.
Beautiful pool with lots of wildlife in the trees. The staff gave the kids bananas to hand feed the monkeys. Hot shower by the outdoor pool. Drinks were available for purchase by the bar (not cheap though but nothing in MA is cheap). There was music/TV at the bar. Complimentary breakfast was great; either Tico breakfast or American breakfast. You can choose to eat at 7am or 8am. The staff were really wonderful and lovely. Our unit had a fridge, & a bar in our 'kitchen area'. They provided some glasses & coffee mugs. Other items were available behind the pool kitchen bar. ie cutlery Outdoor shower (in the unit) was hot with great water pressure. They provide Shampoo, conditioner & hand wash. Beds were comfortable. AC was excellent but only in the bedrooms. Free secure parking ( behind a gate, opened by fob). The staff were all really lovely and went above and beyond.

United StatesThe rooms had bugs crawling from under the door but the staff made sure very quickly to get rid of them and didn't really see them afterwards.
The staff were really friendly and even accommodated us getting there late. Breakfast was good and got to see the monkeys that hung out by the pool. Quite a bit of wildlife to see here!

United KingdomIt is not a negative but unusual bathroom as the shower is private but open-air. Great for watching wildlife whilst showering!
Comfortable well equipped room. Small but lovely pool. Friendly and very helpful staff. Location is busy but very good for a wide range of restaurants and access to the Manuel Antonio national park, which you can drive to at the bottom of the hill. Amazing beach next to the park.

New ZealandWhen it rained heavily the roof did leak very slightly, nothing major but it did make the floor slippery. Staff were friendly but some of them could have learned a few words of basic english especially when serving breakfast etc because this place is marketed towards foreigners.
Room had a lot of space and came with a TV and fridge. Bathroom was pretty good too. The pool area was a great place to relax, very beautiful and monkeys will often come and visit. Is right by a bus stop. Breakfast was pretty good.

United KingdomThe music was too loud by the pool, which starts at 7am. The staff were nice but we could never find anyone either by the pool or on reception which was a bit odd.
The pool area was lovely and we got a private bungalow on stilts which was spacious. The hotel was easy to find and the bus into Manuel Antonio or Quepos stopped right outside, costing only 385 colones per person.

ItalyI was facing the back part full of trees, which in my opinion needed more maintenance, and that's why animals came around for food. Not the best area if you don't rent a car and want to eat something around. It's 5 min by bus to the park and to walk in the "city center". Lights in the room were extremely low.
Very quiet. Helpful staff. The property is subdivided into lodges. Each lodge has its own balcony and a hammock. Outdoor toilet and shower very bright. Nice to wake up and have a delicious breakfast. Coffee is always available for free at the pool area. If you like animals, I had the chance to meet a raccoon looking for food underneath my balcony and also around the hotel. It was lovely to see some white face monkeys climbing on the trees from my bedroom.

United KingdomLocation wasn't quite close enough to Quepos or the majority of Manuel Antonio, but ok if you have a car. Not much of a view, main hotel building undergoing building work, so nothing currently to offer in terms of facilities beyond a pool bar, my room a bit too dingy for my taste even with all lights on, could have done with more (or brighter) lighting options. Amex payment couldn't be processed which was inconvenient having used Amex to reserve the room.
Location quiet, room clean, Netflix and A/C in rooms, some nice touches like the hammocks, good amount of furniture in room, good staff who were very friendly and helpful, decent breakfast, decent value for money given that Manuel Antonio hotels are generally expensive.
