Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

What a pleasant surprise. We live in Nosara and were taking a road trip south for several days. We wanted to take a break on the way and found this Hotel. Unlike most of the dated and/or poorly designed hotels in the Jaco area, it appeared to have character and style, exactly what we like in hotel. Everything exceeded expectations. The place is really cute. The rooms were well thought out and designed, and the beds incredibly comfortable. The staff was incredible, attentive, funny, and engaging. Parking easy and right there. Great pool and bar, too. Highly recommend and I’ll definitely stay here when back in Jaco.

If you’ve ever dreamed of diving straight from your hotel room into a vibrant pool, sipping cocktails designed by a mixology wizard, and falling asleep in a bed that rivals any five-star resort—@Hotelamavi in Jaco, Costa Rica, should be at the top of your list! Anneth, part of Hotel Amavi’s all-star-team, had our room ready by noon so we could prep for our Explorer Tour with @toura.global. After returning, still buzzing from the day’s adventures, we did what any sane person would do: jumped right into the warm pool. The in-pool lounge chairs? Game changer. The direct pool-and-bar access from our room? Iconic. Fofo, Amavi’s fabulous bartender made me a drink I’ll be ordering again and again: The Riddle-tropical, tangy, refreshing cocktail. It’s bright, a little flirty, and goes down dangerously easy. Priced at $10, it’s worth every colón. Back in our cozy room, I indulged in all the @rawbotanicals products provided-handmade in CR-the star of the show: Mango Dream Cream. Yes, I will be buying it in bulk. Don’t judge! Climbing into what might just be the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in, I had a moment of pure awe. Every detail in this hotel feels curated with love. If you’re a fan of HGTV’s #bettingonparadise you’ll recognize the signature style of Steph and Luke, the dream team behind Amavi. But trust me—seeing it on screen is one thing, experiencing it in person is next-level. I woke to birdsong (actual birdsong!), made myself coffee from the room’s custom coffee bar, and sipped it by the pool! ☕️ Hotel Amavi is more than just a place to stay—it’s a joyful, vibrant retreat that completely lives up to the hype. And the best birthday present ever? 4pm checkout!! 🎉 We will be back @hotelamavi-you’re like family now so you’re stuck with us!! ♥️

United KingdomLoved this hotel! There are only a small number of rooms so it was very peaceful. The room was a great size with a really comfortable bed, and the pool and bar on your doorstep. The beach is only a couple minutes walk away - perfect for a swim, surf or catching the sunset! I also really enjoyed the more relaxed atmosphere of this area of Jacó, exactly what I was looking for.

SwedenThe cleaning staff were fantastic and the actual room was really clean, the only thing I felt was that the bathroom although clean could have done with a good base clean as it was just looking a bit tired. Overall though this didn't affect my perception of the hotel.
The location was great, the hotel is really unique and comfortable. The staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful with all kinds of different requests. Communication was also really good.

United StatesThey gave us a selection of milks to choose from when we checked in so we can have coffee how we like it in the morning, which we drank while in the loungers in the pool. Very stylish and chic! Just a 2 minute walk from the beach so was able to go back and forth from the beach to the pool. Very comfy bed and bedding in an air conditioned oasis.

United StatesThe hotel is absolutely beautiful, the design & amenities have been chosen thoughtfully and are from a higher standard that I have seen in CR so far. The layout, happy colors, the location of the bar and also the staff provide a perfect mix of happiness, good vibes & tranquility. The rooms are beautiful, the bed is very comfortable and especially the receptionist Anneth helped us with anything we needed and was very forthcoming. She helped with ordering food, laundry service, booking a horse riding tour on the beach and connected us to their wonderful and extremely professional surf guide Julian. The two wonderful guys at the bar made fantastic drinks & juices, helped with my luggage, played great music and were always up for a good conversation. It’s a 2 min walk to the beach and just perfect. I liked it so much that I rearranged my trip & came back for 3 more nights! We had a lovely stay and I would come back any time! ❤️

United StatesThe bathroom was a little small with very limited countertop space, but that wasn't a big deal.
Wonderful experience! Great location, about a 3-minute walk to the beach. Lots of restaurants nearby. The town was about a 20-minute walk away, which wasn't bad. The hotel itself was great, super clean and comfortable. We spent a lot of time in the pool, which had a bar and small restaurant adjacent to it. The staff was amazing and super helpful. I highly recommend this hotel.

GermanyEverything was perfect!
This hotel is amazing! The only 9 rooms are placed around the pool and in reality it‘s more beautiful and more private than on the pictures. The rooms are very nice equipped with comfortable beds and furnitures. The bed linen is excellent and consists of a completely wrapped inlay and good pillows. The mattresses are very comfortable. The air conditioning is very quiet. We had them running on „silent“ during the night. The team including the owners, the bartenders, the reception and the room service are very friendly and familiarly. They have good tips and suggestions for all concerns. The location of the hotel is excellent. It is located in a quiet area of Jaco. You can reach the center within a few minutes by bus, on foot or by car. The unique beach can be reached after approx. 100 meters along the road with very low traffic, on which the hotel is located. We felt so comfortable for 16 days that we would have loved to stay or stay there again when we come back to Jaco.

United StatesIf I could change one thing, it would be to have a breakfast or coffee option in the morning (I couldn’t quite figure out the coffee machine). We stayed in a regular room so we didn't have a kitchenette like the one in the suite and there is no restaurant on site, only a bar. That said, there’s a great restaurant right across from the beach just a minute away, so it really wasn’t a big deal after all.
We stayed three nights at Amavi during a work trip to Costa Rica, and it was the perfect spot for a relaxing, beachside stay. I chose Amavi for its proximity to the beach, laid-back vibe, and the ability to rent a surfboard right on-site—and it didn’t disappoint. The staff was incredibly welcoming and kind, and I loved that it’s tucked away just a 10–15 minute walk from the main part of Jacó. The peaceful atmosphere and stylish design really suited us, especially since we prefer to stay away from the party scene. Highly recommend if you're looking for a quiet, design-forward hotel with a great vibe and easy access to surf! I ended up taking surf classes with Julian (I'm an intermediate surfer) and it was really the best surf instructor I ever had!

CanadaThe only problem we had was with the air conditioner. It didn’t work properly the second night, was very warm in the room and it made a loud buzzing noise every few seconds which prevented us from sleeping. Unable to contact anyone at the hotel after 6 pm. Otherwise the rooms are very nice!
We loved the staff, the pool and the room. The bed was close to the floor and had a step up from the kitchen area that you had to remember so you didn’t trip on it. The free ground coffee was great. Would definitely recommend to stay there. Lots of loungers with big umbrellas at the pool with a bar right there.

United StatesHotel Amavi was lovely. We only stayed here one night on our way back to San Jose. The staff was inviting and social, and we arrived right when all the guests were having a trivia night! It was good vibes right away. Hotel Amavi is in a quieter part of town, but it's an easy 15-minute walk to get to the busy street with all the restaurants and bars.

United StatesEveryone was so lovely and accommodating. The rooms surround the lovely pool (which has a bar with water and fruit drinks in addition to wonderful cocktails). Beds are so comfortable as is the A/C which you control. The pool has a large shallow section which is great for the littles, or for lounging on the underwater chairs with your papaya fresa! Lovely umbrellas for shade in the hottest part of the day. Outdoor shower and bathroom next to the pool. They are perfectly located a bit outside the most touristy part of town, 1 block from great food at Rayana or Aloha (on the beach) and hiking up to El Miro. This beach is great for learning to surf or strolling (firm sand). Amavi rents boards and can arrange for surfing lessons with Julian. They can also arrange rainforest walks, horseback rides etc, and had a karaoke night at the open poolside bar. Use your sunblock early and often!!
