Casa Tambla had all we needed during our stay in Ponta do Sol: perfect location, comfortable and spotless rooms, very friendly owners and staff, good breakfast served in the garden, a terrace on the top floor overlooking the harbour, library with a lot of information and maps we used for our hikes. Simply - the best accommodation choice in Ponta do Sol!

Positive section of review
Perfect location just few steps away both from the beach and the main street of Sal Rei. The host was super helpful with all questions we had about the town, places to buy bread or souvenirs. The apartment is very nicely decorated and well equipped for self catering if this is your option.

Positive section of review
The only positive aspect was the location, being very close to Angulo Beach in Santa Maria. However, the apartment is located right next to the kitchen vent of the Art Café, and there was a constant strong smell of food at the entrance, which made the stay even more unpleasant.

Here are the main issues we encountered during our stay: Towels: We had no proper towels for the entire stay. On the first day, only one shower towel was provided, and on the second day another was given but it was not clean. Despite repeated requests, we never received clean bath towels, hand towels, or small towels. Kitchen: The kitchen was missing essential utensils, such as knives, making it unusable. Room conditions: The double bed consisted of two single mattresses pushed together, which was very uncomfortable. Curtains and walls were stained, giving the room a poor level of cleanliness. Water system noise: Each time we used the tap, a loud noise started and continued for minutes. This noise was also triggered by other apartments, especially during the night, making it nearly impossible to sleep. Air conditioning: The remote control did not work, so the air conditioning could not be switched off. We had to sleep with it on all night, which was very unpleasant. Bathroom (most serious issue): On the second day, the toilet became clogged. We immediately reported it to the property owner. Although she claimed to have checked and fixed the issue, the problem was not resolved, and we were left without a usable bathroom for four days. This was unacceptable and ruined our holiday.

A very silient and calm place. Claudio provides relyable and very helpful tips and helps in organizing trips that are not overrated. The staff ( Lizi) is very friendly and prepares perfect menues (breakfast and dinner)

People were nice and wifi was very good (a couple of times it was down but only for like 1 hour). They have a bus that takes you to santa maria in the morning and beings you back 4 hours later.

The island had a problem with water, and the hotel was aware but made no effort whatsoever to alert incoming guests. I had no running water for the first three days of my stay because the hotel’s water reservoir ran out. For the first two days, this affected most of the hotel; on the third day, it was only my room, and it took them 24 hours to fix it. In the end, I had to wait in the reception until someone finally came. Be aware that booking did not reply to ANY OF MY MESSAGES TO HELP RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM!!!! They did not offer any solution or any compensation at all. We had to shower with cold water in the reception and use the toilets there as well. All the restaurants were fully booked for the entire duration of our stay as soon as we arrived. The food at the self-service restaurant was very poor — the fruit was often warm, and the pork served was raw inside. The rooms are very old, which would have been fine, except that housekeeping only came once during the whole week. They didn’t even replace the towels; we had to go and get them ourselves and then wait hours. I don’t consider myself picky, as I am used to staying in hostels and other types of facilities, but I do not recommend this hotel for the price.
