Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ColombiaThe place is wonderful. It's located just a few meters from the ocean, and up some stairs, there's a small, uncrowded beach. The room exceeded our expectations; it's spacious, comfortable, and very cool. Staying in Santa Catalina has the great advantage of being free of vehicles and noise, but you can easily go to Providencia, where there are markets, ATMs, restaurants, and car rentals to explore other beaches. Kenia was a great host and is a very knowledgeable person. Manfred is quite fun and friendly. They were kind enough to prepare some food for us: I recommend the Shell Sea fish and Chase's lobster. If you want the Creole experience, this is the place to go. We learned about fishing, religion, gastronomy, and other local customs. We will definitely stay there again.

United KingdomKenya is an incredible host and her place is a gem! The flat was spacious, incredibly clean and lovingly decorated. It had a large wardrobe, a tv, air conditioning, kitchen equipment and a big kitchen, a dining table, a small balcony with chairs and a little table outside, as well as a hammock where you can relax and see the ocean from. The flat is located in Santa Catalina, the small island crossing the bridge from providence. It’s a peaceful paradise, with no cars or motorbikes allowed. There’s a beach about 5min walking and free kayaks for you to roam and explore. But beyond all of the objectively amazing things about her place, Kenya and her son Chase were so welcoming, it felt like we were visiting old friends more than staying in an airbnb. They had us over for the most delicious dinner, Chase took us out snorkelling on his boat where he also caught the fish we then ate. We had some truly magical times, can’t wait to be back! Thanks Chase and Kenya and sorry it took us ages to write a review!!

BelgiumThe only issue we had was the absence of soundproofing between the rooms (and on top of being extra sensitive to noise we were unlucky with the neighbours during our stay)
Excellent location (no car or motorbike on Catalina), very calm. The room was super clean (and cleaned every day). The kitchenware includes everything necessary. The bed was comfy. Most of all the host Kenia and her family were absolutely marvellous. We took almost all our dinners (the restaurant is still a work in progress but in the meantime she dresses tables on the patio) there as we found out that there was no better cook on the island.. she was also a mine of informations and she made sure to meet our expectations and demands at the best of her capacities.

RomaniaWe had an absolute pleasure on our stay at Shell Sea B&B (hosted by Kenia and Manfred) in Providencia and it was an experience I’ll never forget. From the moment we arrived, Kenia made us feel at home with her warm, welcoming spirit. Her hospitality is truly unmatched. The room was very clean, cozy with a beautifully view over the see and island hills. Kenia’s home-cooked meals were some of the best we had on the island - we higly recommend it. Their kindness and hospitality will leave a lasting impression and you’ll truly feel like you’ve gained some friends on the island. Thank you, Kenia & Manfred for making our visit unforgettable!

United StatesEverything was great, so I can't think of much to say. If anything, the mattress was too firm for my taste, but that's about it.
Kenya and Manfred have a lovely place along the pedestrian-only seafront path on Santa Catalina island. It's a short walk from the bridge that connects the island to Providencia's main town, but with advanced notice, the owners will come pick you up in their boat so you don't have to carry your suitcases or backpacks. Their place was fantastic- our unit had a kitchen and balcony facing the sea. We had a view of the water and the island Providencia over the swaying palm trees. The A/C and fan kept us cool. I'll be back.

Both suites were very clean and the kitchens had everything you need for cooking. Guests can use the kayaks for free, the area is perfect for exploring. Kenia was a great host and is very helpful.

GermanyManfred and Kenia were super nice, welcoming hosts and made our stay very special. They helped us with every request that we had (ie organising tours, taxis or scooters for rent) and were always very friendly. We also had the opportunity to take their kayak for free. The room was cleaned every day and it was super clean! We can highly recommend the stay!

ColombiaMy stay at Shell B & B on Santa Catalina Island was simply enchanting, thanks to the exceptional hospitality of hosts Kenia and Manfred. The room was a haven of comfort that elevated my experience in these fantastic islands (Providencia and Santa Catalina). Kenia and Mandfred's recommendations for local dining were superb, offering a taste of the island's culinary delights. Their expertise extended to adventure planning, with scuba diving and hiking suggestions that showcased the island's natural beauty. The secluded beaches they guided me to were a perfect retreat. If you are looking for welcoming hosts and a place to relax and recharge with the ocean and island vibes, this is the one.

ColombiaNothing really. Some suggestions would be a line to hang wet towels etc as they blow off the balcony and a closet to hang clothes in the room as there was only a chest of drawers. Oh and I would use “ Nike” for the snorkeling again as he was great but wouldn’t recommend the hiking guide Eusebio as he didn’t give much info about the birds or vegetation in the park.
A lovely location just what I was looking for. Far enough away from the noise of the bars and restaurants but close enough to enjoy when I wanted. The view from the ocean facing room which upgraded to was so peaceful and the hammock was a super relaxing touch. Kenya and Manfred the hosts were wonderful kind people that went out their way to make my stay just what I wanted. Organized a hike to the Peak for me and a snorkeling trip too. I’d definitely recommend and go back if I could!

FranceThere isn't many places to dine on Santa Catalina at the moment - only a takeaway pizza place next door. You will have to walk to the main island for dinner and ideally you will need your own scooter/golf cart or to take a moto taxi to go to beaches or places for dinner.
I spent a few days at Shell Sea B&B and it was lovely. Prior to my stay, Manfred & Kenya booked a taxi to pick me up at the airport and Manfred came then to pick me up by boat for the last leg of the journey. This B&B is on the small island of Santa Catalina linked to the main island via a bridge - it's around 15 minutes walking but it felt very safe even at night. Manfred can help you rent a scooter/golf cart and can take you around the island on his private boat, or arrange for you to join a snorkelling tour with other people. I did that and I really enjoyed it. My little apartment was spotless, good AC and a little fridge to keep my drinks cool. You can walk to the beach nearby but it's a steep flight of stairs. Everything felt very safe and cosy, and I had a wonderful stay!

Ukrainewe loved everything about this place. do not expect fast Internet anywhere on a remote island , but if you need good Internet, then you can get a Sim card with lots of data for 30,000 pesos (about 8 USD) in town.
our stay at this place was amazing. we loved everything about it. family is very friendly. location is remote, which is great for quiet and relaxing time. no motos allowed on the island and beautiful walk down the water and over the bridge to town. loft was very spacious and clean. daily, good cleaning. nicely appointed kitchen. - Free kayaks to take around the island - Mask and snorkel to rent down the road - Ask for fresh fish to cook - Take the boat ride around the main island with Manfred. bring snorkel gear. - So much more to do or do like we did and just go sloooooow. recommend at least 2 weeks to fully unwind and enjoy.

United StatesQuiet, clean, comfortable. But the best thing about Shell Sea B&B is the hosts, Manfred and Kenya. They’re so kind and sweet and there to help you organize diving, scooters, snorkeling, hikes, give you dinner recommendations and even boat rides across the bay if they’re heading that way too. This is the best place we stayed in Colombia.

GreeceI stayed only 2 nights in the island, but I recommend 4-5 to really experience it. As mentioned, there is no wifi, so keep that in mind. Also, not hot water, but you won't need it. And no kitchen or utensils, in case you want to cook.
Everything about the stay was amazing! Manfred welcomed me like a friend. Helped me rent a moto, recommended me places to eat, arranged a scuba dive for me, gave me his Kayak to use for free and was willing to provide help at anytime (and transfer with his boat). The location is quiet and peaceful. The room was spacious, clean, with AC, TV and a fridge. 100% recommend it.

United StatesLiterally everything about this place was great.
This place is amazing! It was extremely clean, the breakfast was fantastic, owners are nice, and I loved the location. It's on Santa Catalina Island, which is smaller and connected to the bigger Providencia by a bridge (or boat, which the owners are happy to help with). This is a quieter place, and I think it was probably the prettiest area on the island(s). There's a tiny, quiet beach just 4 minutes walk away, as well as the old fort (which is actually extremely historic, as well as having a beautiful view). Once you've crossed, it's easy to get a taxi, motorcycle taxi, or rent a motorcycle to get anywhere else you want on the island. I would 100% stay here again next time I visit Providencia!

NetherlandsThe wifi didn’t reach to the room. A taxi to pick us from the airport was arranged without informing us about the cost. For our return we arranged our own taxi at half price and unfortunately ended up in a discussion with a second pre-arranged taxi driver.
The accommodation it’s quiet, spacious and comfortable. Payment could be done by card. Manfred and Kenia are kind and very willing taking organisational features out of your hands.
