Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NorwayWe would have appreciated some more efforts to understand a not-chinese-speaking guest. We had some questions that we didn't experience any particular willingness to understand. It would have been fantastic if at least one person in the hotel had some (very basic level) English speaking skills, or would use a translating app.
Breakfast was very good. We missed nothing. The facilities were perfect, as was the neighbourhood.

JapanThe main downside is noise: Since it's an old, wooden building, there's inevitably not much soundproofing between the rooms and the corridors, so if the people around you make a noise you can hear it.
A well-run hotel in a fabulous building with loads of history. It's kind of amazing that you can stay there for a normal reasonable hotel rate.

United KingdomI wouldn't really call the gym a gym; more like a small room with a cross trainer, treadmill, and dumbbells. Lack of bench, olympic lifting rig, barbells, and kettle bells as well as awkward arrangement of space made it hard to get any meaningful exercise done.
A lovely hotel situated in a building of great historical heritage. Beautiful garden to have a stroll around early mornings, and breakfast with a wide array of foods to choose from. The double room was spacious, mine had a bathtub and shower however some will only come with a shower cubicle. L'Occitane shower and body lotions supplied which I find poetic given the proximity to the French Concession. The interior is just as delightful as the exterior, and the staff are very friendly. Situated about 15 minutes walk from three metro stations: South ShaanXi Road, Middle HuaiHai Road, and West Nanjing Road. Very trendy area with expensive boutique shops and international dining options outside.

MalaysiaAs many mentioned, room isn’t really soundproof but not a big problem at all.
Staff are friendly and helpful with great hospitality. Albeit the room is smaller than we expected and the terrace is not exactly with a view, but it’s a very pleasant stay in the Fairyland! Love the interior and the story how it was built, especially the integration of the West with the Chinese elements. We also loved the breakfast buffet with both Chinese and western choices, one of the things we looked forward to every morning during our stay.

United StatesLike all the hotels we stayed at in China, only the desk manager can speak any English. I'm not suggesting the whole world should speak my language, just that it's difficult to communicate with other staff, and none know many tourist sights or how to get to them or seem interested in finding out. You'd think a hotel would promote the excellent and interesting boutique shops, cafes and bars nearby, but no one mentioned this. Maybe because 85% of the guests here were older, conservative Chinese people. The rooms were nice, but seem to cater to this demographic.
Excellent location, very trendy boutique cafes and bars (mostly Japanese, sushi etc.) on the tree-lined street nearby. Extensive breakfast (more Euro/Chinese than American style), 15-20 minute walk to metro. This hotel might seem quirky for Shanghai, but it worked out very well.

Definitely an extraordinary experience to stay in a historical mansion. It was fascinating to go around and explore every corner of it and pay attention to the details of the architecture. Breakfast was very good. Rooms are well facilitated. As per the reminder from the hotel, basic amenities like toothbrush and toothpaste was not provided, as it is a new tourism policy in China.

The house was Beautiful , staff were very nice. We had a wonderful time in Moller. We also introduced it to our friends. I remembered I tried to give tip to a guard who helped me but he said that’s his job, don’t worry about it, his last name is Shi. Also many other staffs were so nice, so helpful, thank you!
