How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe house was located very close to the beach, spacious and everything was in good condition. Especially the help of the manager Alain, who answered any questions we had about Kribi or about arranging transportation, was invaluable.

Verified reviewThe location is great!!!
We rented this house for 3 nights over Easter weekend but only had one pleasant evening in the property. The first night was great, the climate was good and the location of the house is fantastic being across the road from the public beach with the fish bars/restaurants. Day two the ‘high speed’ wifi wasn’t working at all and during the night, the electricity went off, resulting in a very uncomfortable night and no sleep with it being so hot and humid. Without the aircon and fans and lights, it really wasn’t a pleasant experience. We called the house manager who is very responsive and kind. He explained to us that there is a problem with the network and therefor they are struggling to upload electricity on the meter. The problem seemed to be solved but when we came back after dinner on the 3rd evening, there was no electricity so the house was HOT, Humid and dark. Not what we paid for. We were never told that they still couldn’t upload electricity. So for two nights and a day, we couldn’t use the house. We booked a hotel nearby for 30k per room per night and the owner refunded us 40k total. That covered one hotel room and my data packages. No internet, 2 awful nights and less than 25% refund. He offered to give us a free night if we book a minimum of three further nights but obviously we’re not going to do that. So, although the house was good and in a good location with a great manager, I would not trust that they will keep you informed of potential errors and/or reimburse you of things go wrong.
Hello Jennie, Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent stay at our property. We apologize for the inconvenience you experienced with the WiFi and electricity during your Easter weekend. Regarding the power disruption, we understand that it was uncomfortable for you. Unfortunately, power disruptions are primarily dependent on the electricity company. Regarding the amenities, we would like to know which additional amenities you would have liked besides the 2 coffee machines, electric kettle, 4-burner gas oven, microwave oven, refrigerator freezer, kitchen hood, smoke detector, air conditioners in the 2 bedrooms, water heater, etc. Regarding cleanliness, we would have appreciated if you had mentioned it to our manager during the check-in inspection. This is the first time we have received such feedback. In response to these events, we have taken immediate steps to improve the situation. We have opted for a reputable and much more reliable internet provider to ensure optimal connectivity for our future guests. Additionally, electricity recharge will now be done systematically whenever the charge is reduced to a 10-day autonomy. While you were not specific about cleanliness, we have instructed our manager to ensure that the cleaning subcontractor has performed the cleaning properly. We also want to address the issue of the refund. We have taken into account the inconvenience you experienced and have attempted to compensate as best as possible. We understand that the refund may not have met your expectations, and we sincerely apologize for that. Thank you for your understanding, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again in the future.

Verified reviewThe house is very welcoming and well positioned, close to the city centre, restaurants, shops and the beaches. The layout of the house is well suited for couples or a small family. We appreciated the quiet surroundings and the air conditioning that allowed us to rest well. We had a wonderful stay in Kribi and it was really nice to spend 6 nights in the house celebrating new year! The administrator of the house Alain was very prompt in responding to our calls and he brought some nice chairs for us to enjoy the veranda.
We liked the house but I will suggest that the house gets more equipped with some coffee cups and some more glasses in the kitchen.

Verified reviewNo TV when we arrived. It says that the property has an accès to a prívate beach…… full of rubbish, empty plastic bottles, and nothing prívate at all ! It says the House has a high speed internet connection…. No internet at all !
This guest never showed up at our property. I would like to know what house he is talking about. Our property has never suffered from lack of internet or the CANAL + bouquet. The beach located less than 150 meters from La Maison Du Voyageur, is far from resembling the one described on its reviews. Just to situate our guests, this beach displays an exceptional picture, because in addition to offering walking areas, it is also a fishermen's landing stage and there are open-air restaurants specializing in freshly caught seafood.

Verified reviewThe Apartment is located close to the beach, which offers a lot of nice fish restaurants and a wonderful beach, where you can enjoy the day by watching the fishermen and drinking fresh coconut water. A supermarket and one of the main streets is really close (5 minutes walk), where you can find more restaurants or bars. The neighbourhood of the apartment is really quiet. The apartment itself has a great equipment with an AC, washing machine, coffee machine, microwave etc and it even has a barbecue!! So you feel directly comfortable and the beds are great too! :) Our house manager Alain was great and he was help us with every little problem. It was easy to collect the keys and to give them back.
Nothing - it was all good!
