How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewContinental breakfast as expected was great with fresh fruit. Great restaurant food and entertainment. Always greeted by friendly staff breakfast and dinner. nice beach access for swimming and snorkeling.
The only thing I can think of is the bathroom could do with an exhaust fan. :)

Verified reviewThe breakfast was bang on, perfect to start the day off with! Fresh scones, fruit 🍋🟩 👍The restaurant on site had fantastic meals and was popular with people from other resorts. Rooms are amazing and so big. The bar was great with a wide range of drinks both non and alcoholic. Staff very friendly, helping out with car rentals (200m down the road) at last minute (NZ 230 - 3 days) Great supermarket, cafe and restaurant down the road. Moana sea scooters turtle tour - recommend highly, 3 minutes away. Awesome beach to snorkel and see fish. And sooo quiet - perfect holiday spot!!!😎🌴

Our beachfront cabin was a bit "tired". Breakfast was quite basic, but ok. There was only 1 washing machine for the whole place and no dryer as it was broken. I was unable to wash as the machine was either washing or had someone's wet clothes sitting in it.
Kia Orana Angela. Thanks for your feedback. Our dryer wasn't broken but rather was being sanded to remove external rust and repainted. During this time, our onsite commercial laundry in Huosekeeping was offering a wash/dry/fold service for $10 per load. We have always offered one washing machine and one dryer in our guest laundry, which is definitely sufficient for our small property. It would seem there were more guests than normal wanting to do washing during the few days you were here. Cheers.

Verified reviewLovely laid back place to stay. The beach bungalow was in an amazing position right on the lovely beach and picture perfect location! The happy hour (and a half was) with local singer was fun too each Friday. The restaurant on-site was good with big portions ( although they did need 2 goes to cook my chicken thoroughly, but rectified it very politely!) The snorkelling directly off the beach is as good as I have seen and so easy to do even for beginners

Verified reviewThe location is unbeatable with the beach just next to the beach bungalows where you can do snorkeling with beautiful fish all day. They provide snorkling gear free so that is great. The onsite restaurant is good and the staff is generally helpful and pleasant. Breakfast is average but no complaints. Being able to book airport transfers is really helpful too. There is a 24/7 super market about 400m away which is really good. Overall we had a great stay.
The restaurant is said to be open till around 8. We are late eaters so we prefer late timeslots for dinner. Because they did not accept late timeslots we preffered getting take away orders. However, while the restaurant accepted most of our dinner takeaway orders, there was some reluctance and attitude shown when we placed orders which was not really comfortable. May be it was a special case but thought of sharing what we felt.

Verified reviewA beautiful location. We have visited Palm Grove six times over the last 20 years & it’s one of the best on the island. Quiet & picturesque with a fabulous private beach just across the road. Staff are friendly & helpful & the Yellow Hibiscus restaurant has lovely food with generous portions & reasonable prices.
Breakfast could have been better. Although included in the cost of accommodation, it was rather too basic. Only white sliced bread with sometimes scones & a slice of cake. There was a choice of fruit (mostly tinned) & cereals. It was the only thing which was disappointing in an otherwise excellent place to stay.

Wi-Fi was unreliable and expensive - Vodafone seem to practice a form of digital colonialism across the island.
