How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewVery friendly people who are very open to conversation and helpful. Nice single room with a view over the whole valley. Fast and attentive service for any kind of requests. I wanted to take a shower after my hike on my checkout day, they made it possible.
It’s an old house and it will creek and eek if someone is walking around. You will hear it in your room. If you are easily disturbed by sounds, maybe prepare yourselves or change plans.

Verified reviewDinner was excellent, big portions, just what we needed after a long hike.
Wooden room - bugs crawling from everywhere, it wasnt the most comfortable place to stay. Bed is not long enough for tall people. I am 181cm, my husband 193cm and we couldnt fit into the bed.

Verified reviewI liked absolutely everything. The staff don’t speak much English, but I don’t speak much German and they are willing to pantomime until everything works out. The views are amazing. The building is amazing. The showers are amazing. The meatloaf was amazing. The idea of meatloaf is amazing. They have beer there.
I read reviews that said the building is too creaky or too drafty. The building is old, dummy. All that authenticity you say you want on your instagram profile will occasionally lead to drafty rooms and creaky floors. My least favorite thing is that this place deserves a perfect five star rating and you fragile influencers forgot your headphones and screwed it up for all of us. 5/5, no complaints except that I couldn’t order All You Can Eat Meatloaf.

Verified reviewThis was by far the best hotel I stayed in on my latest Alpine trek. I was given a very warm welcome (in unseasonably cold September weather!) and had a fantastic evening with good company, eating and drinking local food and beer. My room was lovely with a very rustic feel (everything seemed to be made of wood!), and the following morning’s breakfast featured freshly baked bread and honey straight from the hive tray. The two staff members I met were also helpful and friendly throughout my stay. Oh and the location is sensational!
Nothing.

Verified reviewLovely heritage building, full of character, dinner was delicious. Staff were all lovely.
Be aware, as it is a very old building, the house creaks - just adds to the vibe!

Verified reviewThis hotel is peaceful and private in the quiet Kiental region. We had a very comfortable sleep and the place is kept very clean. The shared toilet and communal showers are very nice, private and surprisingly modern despite being shared. Breakfast provided is adequate, and had nice touches of freshly baked bread and honey straight from the honeycomb. Dinner was good, though note that it is fairly expensive and there are very limited options if you do not dine at the restaurant.
The main con is no charging ports in the rooms - you have to go into the hall and plug in near the shared sink. As other reviews have mentioned, as it is an old and traditional building, it is very creaky and you can hear other guests easily.

Verified reviewReally historic building, "dans son jus" as we say in French. Great welcome, immediately at ease.
Historic building means the acoustic is not great. Every move (own or from others) makes some noise.

Verified reviewWhat a perfect, traditional hotel! The setting is beautiful, and I loved sitting outside with a drink in the evening. The food was delicious (I recommend messaging them to add on half board if it's not an option through Booking.com). The shared shower rooms worked surprisingly well, and the showers were fantastic for such an old property. I loved the atmosphere of the hotel, would definitely stay again.
I didn't mind it but if you're sensitive to noise, bear in mind the floorboards are very creaky as it's such an old hotel. The beds are quite short too and have a footboard in the single rooms so if you're tall it could be a problem.

Verified reviewFirstly, the atmosphere of this place is amazing! It's nestled in Pochtenalp, surrounded by greenery on all sides. There's nothing better than having your morning coffee while breathing the fresh air and sitting outside. Secondly, the food was fantastic - both dinner & breakfast - you could tell everything was handmade. Finally, the showers are amazing, and the heated floors in the bathroom make it even better!
The wifi signal was very weak in our room and many times I didn't have any wifi signal. LTE and mobile data is not available. But it was a good detox!
