Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandWe enjoyed three relaxing days at the hotel over Swiss National Day. The location is superb, the views of Bodensee are amazing! It’s also close to Appenzell and hiking trails at Säntis. The hotel is modern, the rooms are spacious, beds are comfortable. Breakfast was delicious, with local high-quality products and regional specialties. Another highlight is a large spa area with an infinity pool facing the lake. It was never crowded, just a few people at a time, which made the time spent there very relaxing. The hotel personnel was very attentive and friendly. Altogether, we really enjoyed our stay and we‘ll likely come back.

SwitzerlandNo complaints.
We loved the comfy clean room, and it was so relaxing to swim in the pool and use the outdoor jacuzzi, and they have all kinds of saunas. The breakfast was great, with many options, and the view to Lake Constance made the place really special. The staff was helpful and accommodating. For a nice outing we took a little train to Rorschach, then a boat trip to a nature preserve. We found a delicious and friendly Kebab Restaurant nearby the hotel too.

GermanyOnly the high (Swiss) price for a room on the "Bodensesee" side.
Modern spa hotel with everything modern, and of high quality. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The high-up location was difficult to reach with bicycles but offered a great view over Bodensee. The breakfast was great. The spa area was also great with a good-sized pool and multiple wellness rooms. The storage room for bikes was the best we experienced - in a disused hotel nearby offering a large spacious area and plenty of bike tools (which we didn't need, but could have been handy).

SwitzerlandCheck out was really busy so I used to self-check out and had the receipt emailed directly. I didn't appreciate the receptionist then making a fuss about checking that I had paid... made me feel awkward and what's the point of a self-check out if they don't trust you to check out?
Breakfast was great - plenty of choice and local products. The spa and wellness area is small, but lovely. There's a steam room near the swimming pool area, and a selection of saunas etc in the textile free area. I enjoyed the mint cold water mist shower afterwards. Better than the 'Storm shower' near the swimming pool ;) Heiden is lovely and there are several bars and restaurants to choose from if you don't want to eat in the restaurant. There is a rucksack in the bedroom if you want to go on a hike - by reception there's a table with folders of local information including suggested walks/hikes.

SwitzerlandDuring this stay all was practically perfect. I hope to experience just as wonderful experience at the Hotel Heiden again.
The staff were absolutely lovely and very attentive - from the reception to the service and departure, The location fit our goal of a relaxing time in a different environment from what we are used to - only an hour away (by car) so perfect for getting away from the city. Th breakfast was great and the fact that it as included in the price helped on the value for money side. The decor of the lobby, lounge and dining areas (with fantastic views) as well as the bedrooms were nicely modernised which gave a more energising feeling in an older but very cute village. The indoor pool with the amazing view. Rooms were well insulated from noise. I really liked that the hotel added little touches like free water bottle and a little departure gift. Super sweet. I definitely can envisage another visit to Hotel Heiden.

United KingdomOnly criticism is about the pillows! Very soft and fluffy, not suitable for me and it made it difficult to get a good nights sleep. I recommend a couple of options should be available just to add a little personal touch.
Decor exceptional, great design and colour scheme. Breakfast and lunch were perfect. The majority of staff were excellent and nothing was too much trouble. With a special mention to Maria in the restaurant who was so helpful and courteous, with a sunny disposition, she made our stay memorable, the hotel are lucky to have her.

Switzerland1. No fridge in the room – There’s no minibar or fridge, which becomes an issue especially in Heiden, where dining options are limited. On Sundays, when everything is closed, it would be useful to store a few groceries or drinks — but without a fridge, that’s not possible. 2. Unclear spa routine and limited replacements – You receive a bag with spa supplies (bathrobe, towel, slippers), but they are not refreshed the next day unless you specifically ask. After swimming or using the sauna, your items are damp or even soaked, and they don’t dry properly overnight in the room. It would be more comfortable and hygienic to offer fresh items daily without needing to ask. 3. No fresh towels in the spa area – This was the biggest downside. After using the steam room or sauna, towels are often soaked — especially in the textile-free zones. Unfortunately, there are no fresh towels available in the spa itself, and it feels like guests are expected to use only what was initially given. While the staff will provide more if you ask, there should be a self-service point with clean towels at all times. It’s standard in most wellness hotels and would make a big difference.
The hotel and its surroundings are charming and peaceful — perfect for a short wellness break. The breakfast was outstanding: generous, delicious, and made with very fresh ingredients. We also loved that there was free tea and fresh fruit available throughout the day — such a thoughtful touch that really added to the experience. The staff was another highlight: incredibly friendly, attentive, and always ready to help. Their warm hospitality made us feel very welcome. The rooms were clean, bright, and comfortable, and the spa area was calm and relaxing — just what you need to unwind.

Germanybreakfast - buffet-plates were refilled too slowly, so that most of the time you went back to your table without whatever you originally wanted to pick up in the first place - very limited selection and variation (especially in the non-vegan area) - coffee machine was often on pause leading to queuing - if you are a fan of muesli breakfast there isn’t an alternative to the swiss bircher muesli…for a nice wellness holiday, I would have expected differently Restaurant/ bar - only swiss alcohol (if you fancy original drinks like campari, you’ll be disappointed) - dishes varied in quality (eg vegan tartar one day delicious, another day dry and disappointing) - dinner was ok in taste and fresh in ingredients, but in total not the level we expected
- Wellness area with nice saunas and clean pool which is long enough for real swimming exercise - Very dog-friendly (dog allowed in restaurant; park right in front of hotel for quick/urgent walks; nice hiking trails accesible from hotel for longer walks) - we booked a bigger room and felt very comfy in it with a comfy bed and 2 tv’s - you can order eggs in different variations for breakfast: all of them were very good - very clean rooms and wellness area - very good thai restaurant in 100m walking distance (“thai ambiente”)
