How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewI had a wonderful stay here! The host was so friendly and accommodating, the breakfast was great and the room was beautiful! It was quite hot during my stay and the room got pretty stuffy (even with the windows open), but otherwise it was perfect!

Verified reviewBeautiful BnB with great modern rooms and lovely decor. Host was amazing. Excellent breakfast. Supper in Viva Restaurant 10min walking distance away is highly recommended.
The church bells that rang throughout the night. Not the propertys fault… Bring earplugs.

Verified reviewThe hotel owner is a very friendly and nice person! The breakfast was good, but perhaps the most impressive thing was the room interior decoration, which was very creative and stylish! The view out of window was wonderful, because the building is built on a hill next to church! You can see the mountains on the horizon and farms in front of it. You can also find a 24/7 self-service grocery store in the village.

Verified reviewCozy place, splendid view, nice breakfast, and friendly staff/owner :) I enjoy walking around the area. There are many animals in the village! The church bell rings at the top of each hour and/or every 15 mins. I knew it before I booked the room, so it's ok. If you have a shallow sleep, it's better to bring your earplugs; they also provide them IIRC.

Walls are a bit too thin so don’t expect much privacy

Verified reviewAmazing breakfast, super friendly owner.
The location might not be a suitable choice for someone travelling without a car (restaurants are in a different village, as well as main shops).

Verified reviewVery conveniently located for hikers. The facilities are rustic and well maintained, and the lady who helped me with the check-in is lovely. If it wasn’t for the bells and the noise, I would give a 10.
The church was right in front of my room, and the bells chime every 15 minutes. I had read about it in the comments before coming, but there are not so many alternatives in such a small village, and I know the property can’t do anything about it.

Verified reviewSuper clean and comfy room. Amazing host that provided bowls for hot foot bath after our long, cold, and wet walk from Bern. Since there was no place for dinner in this town, the host brought us bowls of homemade veggie soup for dinner. Great breakfast too with Nespresso in the room.

Verified reviewVery interesting interior design with specific character. The hotel owner is very friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was great and delicious. There are a lot of board games in the hall, so we could play at the evening. There’s a minibar, ice, coffee and tea, so everything that you can need.
The only thing that we didn’t like, that the church bells rang all night. For a short stay ok, but for a long vacation it would be difficult.

Verified reviewWarm welcome by the owner. Breakfast was delicious, with local Swiss produce. The B&B is in a traditional wooden Swiss house, with a very good view from our window overlooking the mountains. The room was decorated with very good taste. Everything was spotless clean, including the shared bathrooms. We had a great time, would definitely recommend!
All was good.

Verified reviewThis place exceeded my expectations - it is a beautiful old house (very well taken care of) filled with vintage pieces giving it a unique vibe, located in a charming, quiet village on the hill. We received a warm welcome from the owner upon arrival and ended our stay with a delicious breakfast. We absolutely enjoyed our 1-night stay here and would happily come back in the future!

Verified reviewA nice B&B in a quiet and beautiful area. Check-in was quick, and the hostess was kind. It's 20 minutes by car from Thun and the neighboring villages, making it a good starting point for hiking and enjoying nature. The rooms were clean, and the bed was very comfortable

Verified reviewThe host was incredibly kind and accommodating. The breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of delicious options. The location was ideal, being conveniently close to the bus stop. The rooms were tidy and well-maintained, with ample closet space and plenty of charging sockets.
The only downside was the slow Wi-Fi, which wasn't a major issue for me but could be for those who rely on a fast internet connection.
