Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNo lift although I was aware of this when I booked
The room was clean, comfortable and well presented and had everything we needed for our one nights stay. Despite the strip club downstairs, the area seemed ok to me and I didn’t feel unsafe or encounter any issues. Contactless check in was easy to use. Free drinks and snacks was a nice touch and overall thought it was excellent value for money in an expensive city. I would definitely stay again if I was in Zurich

United KingdomThere is no lift. The room was rather hot - we'd had to close the windows to shut out the street noise - with a ceiling fan that was inadequate.
The location - once the taxi driver found it - seemed a little colourful! However once we'd ascended the four flights of stairs and closed the door it was fine. The room was very comfortable. A ten minute walk to the train station.

SingaporeThe bins in the room could be bigger and bin lining would be good to be included in the toilet. We were given ear plugs however at night (after 10pm), could still hear some noises from downstairs as the building is located close to entertainment and late night F&B establishments. We were okay with the stairs but for any one might be concerned about this, do note that you might have to carry luggages up 4 flights of stairs depending on the room allocated to you. There isn't a lift in the building.
The room was well decorated and cleanliness was good. The room was spacious enough for luggage packing, bed & pillows were very comfortable! The apartment is relatively close to the main station/central area, about 15 minutes walk away.

United StatesThe room was listed as having air con - when we were shown to our room the digital display inside read 34.6 Celsius or 94.3 degrees Fahrenheit. The "air con" was a very small free standing unit next to the open window, thru which a hose pulling air from outside was hanging. It was not on when we entered, though we arrived at 6:30 pm. The young man only turned it on when we said "Wow, it is very hot in here". It started making cold air, but was woefully unable to counter the open window, the attic room location and the heat wave hitting the city. It was 6 degrees hotter in the room than it was outside. The hotel listing said there was not an elevator and that taking your bags up would entail stairs. What they DON'T say is that the hotel rooms they book are on the 4th and 5th floors over an adult entertainment club. We were on the 5th floor which means 6th floor in Europe. Six Flights Of Stairs. The young man who led us to our room made all kinds of apologies, promising the a/c would cool it down "before long". We took him at his word and went to find dinner. We returned at 10 pm, the room had "cooled down" to 90 degrees. I messaged the property; they apologized again. I 'slept' in damp pjs, with a wet towel over me. In the morning I called Booking.com to apprise them of the situation. They contacted the property and relayed to us the same excuses and solutions. They asked that we try to work with the property. No other solutions were offered by the property - I asked for a discount or reduction in rate and was told, "oh, I'm so sorry we are unable to do that". I checked for other accomodations in the area and everything was booked or triple the rate we had. We had 1 more night and a full day of activities booked. The promised fan arrived. The only concession we got was "free mini bar" for the almost intolerable heat in the room. The lowest temp the room reached was 87 F or 30.6 C.
Everything in the room was extremely nice - things were way too big for the space - but very nice. It was very clean, obviously new, with fluffy towels, lovely toiletries, and a king size bed. It was hard to move around the room, we had to take turns going around everything. There was a 45 degree slope to the ceiling on one side of the room that made it necessary to bend forward or to the side significantly to avoid hitting your head (I'm 5'5") when you got out of bed on that side. And then there was the oppressive heat and lack of effective a/c.... which made it impossible to really appreciate any of the these things.

JapanThe hotel is located above a strip club, which was a bit surprising at first even though we were prepared for it. The red carpet at the entrance felt a bit dated, but once we stepped into the clean and modern room, we were pleasantly “deceived.” The water pressure was just a bit weak — likely due to the age of the building — but it didn’t affect usability at all. As others have mentioned, there is no elevator, but the staircase is wide and it was easy to carry our luggage up. As for noise, we didn’t experience any disturbances during our stay, though light sleepers might want to take note.
The location is super convenient and easy to get around. The room has been newly renovated — all the furniture is new and everything was spotlessly clean. There were lots of complimentary snacks, coffee, and drinks (including a variety of alcoholic options), which was a lovely touch. The staff responded very quickly and thoughtfully reminded us that all of these were free. The bathroom was well stocked with amenities, the hair dryer was powerful, and the space was very smartly designed. Although there was no air conditioning, the room had a fan and a portable heating/cooling unit, which kept things comfortable. Absolutely loved it and would stay here again in a heartbeat! But honestly… I was tempted not to post this review — it’s such a gem, I kinda want to keep it a secret :)

United StatesThe hotel only has rooms on the 4th and 5th story with no elevator. Further I cannot recommend booking this room in the summer months. This room will remain hot the whole night. The weak ceiling fan will no circulate cold air from outside. Some of us could not sleep due to the heat.
The automated check in was easy. The room was modern. It included snacks, drinks and bathroom toiletries.

SwitzerlandThe room was sweltering hot and despite the ceiling fan I could hardly sleep. I tried to keep the window open during the night but that only dissipated a little bit of the heat and traded it off for noise from the street. This is a great hotel if you are optimizing for a simple but modern place to sleep. Just avoid the summer months.
Very beautiful, modern room with lots of great amenities like complimentary drinks and snacks, great selection of soaps, towels, toiletries, etc. The owners obviously put a lot of thought and care into the hotel. The communication and check-in, even though fully automated, was flawless.

United StatesThe rooms are heated by an antiquated hot water radiator system. While the furniture is new, the valve to the radiator has not been replaced and could not be shut off at night. It was cool outside so we could open the window, but it was right above the nightclub in the building. Thus the room was too hot and outside noise made it difficult to sleep.
The apartments have recently been upgraded, and the furniture is very functional and nice. It is run like an Airbnb and the host was very responsive.

United StatesExcellent quality for the price, surrounded by great eateries and nightlife, impeccably clean. The bed was particularly comfortable and the staff (though not on-site) was always very responsive. We particularly appreciated the stocked minibar. There are stairs up to the room, as advertised, but it wasn't an issue for us.
