How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe location was super. The unit was clean. The hostess and staff were primarily responsive.
I have written to Vacas concerning the foam topper which I had to remove to make the bed liveable. The lamp harp was broken. Some walls need to be washed to remove dust clumps. Water fixtures are old and need replacing.

Verified reviewAmazing quite place with Ozean, pool and amazing facilities. Quite, friendly neighbors and overall the perfekt vibe to relax. The condos are big and have everything you need. There is no such think as hotel service, you just get your private little apartment. Perfekt place for diving trip, the boats can pick you up at the private dock and after diving you can chill at the pool. Also you can watch plenty of sting rays swimming around the dock. Rent free Kajaks etc.
We had little problems with checking in, but everything solved out. Would be nice to get the number of the manager ahead of your stay.

Verified reviewBeautiful site, far from crowds.
Disapointing room, uncomfortable cheap bed, dusty walls all around the room, very dark inside it should be painted white, supply of soap for barely 4 showers the guest are « kindly » invited to buy at closest store. It’s a private condo resort, when outside other owners asked us if we had business there, witch blok we’re in, etc. Not very welcoming.

Verified reviewWifi was a bit unstable, and the fridge didn't work (took 2 days to have it repair). Our concierge was off work but we didn't know, so it took some time to get some answers. But a beautiful place, nice pool. Bed very springy (it's a murphy bed). But everything good for the price.
Thank you for your feedback, Bouthillier! We’re glad you enjoyed the beautiful setting, nice pool, and overall value of your stay. We apologize for the issues you experienced with the Wi-Fi and the fridge, as well as the delay in communication regarding these concerns. These are not the seamless experiences we strive to provide, and your feedback will help us improve our service processes. We also appreciate your note about the Murphy bed and will share your input regarding its comfort with our team. Thank you again for staying with us, and we hope to have the chance to welcome you back for an even better experience!

Verified reviewThe identity verification process could not complete, so we were not provided access. We spent several hours attempting to resolve the issue without success. All of this occurred while we outside the property. Unfortunately, we had to find another place to stay.
Hi Chemis, thank you for your feedback, we appreciate you taking the time to review your experience. We sincerely apologize for the difficulties you experienced with the identity verification process, which ultimately prevented your stay. We understand how frustrating and inconvenient this must have been, especially after spending hours trying to resolve the issue while outside the property. The identity verification system is in place to protect both our owners and guests from false bookings, and it is mandatory in this area for last-minute reservations. This process uses information pulled from consumer reports and public records and is typically required to be completed prior to a guest’s arrival to ensure a seamless check-in experience. We regret that this impacted your plans and will review the situation to improve communication and support around this process. Thank you for your feedback, and we hope to have the opportunity to provide a better experience in the future.

Verified reviewWe loved the location, the room, the property. The location was in the midst of much more expensive hotels and rentals so we felt we got a great deal for the price. The room was right off of the pool area and a short walk to the beach. Because the Hula Bar opened on the pier right next to the facility, there is a nice place to eat very close! Anytime we had questions, a note on WhatsApp got us a reply immediately.
We did not know that this part of the island is traditionally known as The Mosquito Coast. There are mosquitos and Sand Fleas that bite like crazy. We had several people who had so many bites it made them not want to go on walks by the beach. We learned that the locals are just used to it. This is not something the resort can do anything about - but it would have been nice to have been warned. We also did not know that really, to vacation in San Pedro, you have to rent a golf cart for $35-$45 a day! We just didn't want to have to do that.
Thank you, Gregory, for your feedback! We're thrilled to hear that you loved the location, your room, and the property overall. It’s great to know that you felt you got excellent value for the price and enjoyed being close to the pool, beach, and the Hula Bar, which sounds like a convenient and fun dining option. We’re also glad our team was quick to respond via WhatsApp whenever you had questions! We understand how frustrating the mosquitoes and sand fleas can be, especially for those not accustomed to the area. While it’s true that this is a natural part of the region and beyond our control, we appreciate your suggestion about a warning. We’ll work on including more detailed information to help guests prepare better for their stay. Additionally, we understand that the need to rent a golf cart may not suit everyone’s plans, and we’ll strive to make this aspect of visiting San Pedro clearer in our pre-arrival communications. Thank you for your valuable feedback, and we hope to have the chance to welcome you back for an even better experience in the future!

Verified reviewThe only good thing was the room because the staff was unprofessional, nobody in q front seat to do check in, you will wait hours or maybe sleep outside, NEVER HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE LIKE THIS ONE.
As a frequent traveler, I had some little issues with Airbnb or hotels in the past where maybe the room where not clean or my reservation was pending. With this resort I had the WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE TRAVELING, we got to the island around 1:00 pm, we had to wait in q restaurant until 5:00 pm waiting for the staff to give us our check in information, the number that they give you to call doesn’t work and if you try to text them by direct message they never answer. Me and my wife we decided to just head to the resort and maybe somebody could be there to help us, just to clarify they don’t have a office or somebody that could be waiting for you in the resort, everything is online. We got there to find nobody still, some popper that was staying there already were trying to help us to get in contact with the management of the resort but nobody will answer for hours, at one point ours call where not even going trough because they turned the phone off. That was the most RUDE situation ever. We were outside with backpacks waiting outside with mosquitos biting us all over. This lady named GINELI TORRES Answered her phone around 8:00 pm, that’s 7 hours after we got to the island. And at the moment she answered she told us she couldn’t do anything to help us because she was not on charge of the reservations. If you want to risk it and have a BAD EXPERIENCE, stay here other wise DONT PLEASE.

Verified reviewWe liked this property, but I was most happy with the bed in the Black Orchid apartment, as I got a good nights sleep each night. A good mattress is often the hardest thing to find on this island. Excellent water pressure in showers. Lovely private beach area. There are self service use of kayaks, life jackets and paddles under the palapa, giant Jenga & cornhole, kids sand toys, and pool floats.
Not necessarily dislikes but need to knows: I didn’t realize or read it anywhere- this is like renting someone’s apartment. No “office” staff or housekeeping service is provided. You may find 2 rolls of TP and 4 towels regardless of the length of stay (ours was 8 days) and no laundry service or washer dryer on property but you can find a private laundry service and will need to buy paper products. You’ll take out your own trash and do your own dishes. We found this perfectly fine but I wasn’t aware. The water heater is very small, but once I learned the trick, it was manageable. I recommend getting wet, turning water off, soaping up and turning it back on to rinse. Otherwise, it will be cold very quickly. Also make sure the fridge is working before putting groceries inside. We lost $50US the first night when we woke to a completely warm fridge and spoiled food. I messaged the concierge who came that day to plug the fridge into another outlet- in the states the fridge is a dedicated outlet but here many things were plugged into one outlet and must have tripped it. It was on when we arrived but overnight something happened to it.

Verified reviewKeys were in lock box beside door so no interaction was required to check in. Staff was helpful and answered any time we called. Pool was small but clean. We used the laundry service and they picked it up in the morning and dropped it off in the afternoon for a very reasonable price.
Shower pressure could have been a little better but it was acceptable. Golf cart ride to San Pedro is like being in a paint shaker! We'll probably stay a little closer to town next time.

Verified reviewDoor to door service with a driver we booked through the company called George who was amazing! All staff very friendly and welcoming, Ana answered any questions we had and helped us organise an amazing tour. Water provided and a small shop round the corner. Good tv and lovely pool- right on the beach so you don’t have to leave the grounds! Very quiet as further out from the town but about a 20 minute walk from a bigger store and delicious bakery :-)
Because of the location, the town itself isn’t walkable but that wasn’t a problem for us as we spent most our time at the pool- just something to keep in mind if needing to hire a golf buggy or taxis.

Verified reviewLovely location. Great pool. Quiet but easy to get somewhere for more activity. Great set up near the beach with the palapa, chairs, hammocks. Condo was small but well-equipped. The contact person (Ana) was very good about responding in a timely manner, and had great suggestions for things to do.
Charges for laundry. We were charged for a linen change ($30 USD), and there was no room cleaning. We stayed for 4 weeks, and it would have been nice to have it included, at least once. The contact for "concierge" services was emailed twice and never responded. We were at Caribe Island 2 weeks before the concierge reached out to my husband via WhatsApp (I think through Ana's prompting). If concierge/planning services are provided (i.e. contact info given at time of booking) then they need to be available and responsive.

Verified reviewThe location was quite far from the main town which is great for quietness, but renting a golf cart would be advisable. There is 2 excellent restaurants and a small grocery store within walking distance. The pool and waterfront location was beautiful.
It would have been nice to be informed ahead of time that a golf cart rental would be beneficial.
