Because of the seagrass it was very smelly outside (in the restaurant and common areas; the room was okay :)). It was generally smelly in the town, but in front of other properties (next to ours) the grass was removed and thrown out. In front of our hostel it was staying a couple of days, getting more smelly every day. Finally they removed it, but I think that it should be done quicker.

Super comfy beds. Nice rooms with AC, clean, bathrooms too. Great pool on top of the hostel. Free washer and dryer - amazing! The kitchen was also good, tho there weren't many appliances. Still enough to cook pasta :) The staff was super nice and helpful.

Could be quite noisy at night.

Great to have access to free laundry machine, private room with balcony was nice. Useful to have access to kitchen facilities. On arrival we had a slight delay checking in because the previous guests had failed to vacate our room, the manager went above and beyond to look after us in the meantime and gave us a free lunch and drinks which was very kind considering it wasn’t their fault at all!

Bit noisy at times with dogs and being on beach area unfortunately bad stench from all the sargassm seaweed. Which isn't hotels fault but would help if they cleaned some of it away.

Those things are not musts but merely suggestions 1. Hooks in the showers 2. Set AC temperature and remove remotes otherwise you're bound to have issues between guests 3. Restaurant food - add more local cuisine dishes

The location, the staff, cleanliness, amenities—everything! All the island is full of seaweed, but that’s not the fault of the place. The view from the pool is incredible, and it’s close to all the bars and restaurants. They help you with everything, from renting a golf cart to anything else you might need. The restaurant has a wide variety of options, with great prices and generous portions. I had the best experience in Belize! But above all, the best part will always be seeing the kindness and smiles of the people!

Excellent renovations, Last time my son and I had a private room. That building was demolished and the new building I stayed in a female dorm with small balcony. My son stayed in a male dorm. He and I both loved the new spacious shared facilites. Sundays meet and greet welcoming rum punch is a true winner. See you the next time on the island. Sheena and Pancho excellent customer service.

All was great.

The Sanbar has excellent location on oceanfront in safe part of town. They are very well organised and provide everything you need, even after sun lotion and ear plugs were in rooms. Air conditioning in rooms runs 24/7, beds are comfortable and you can use washing mashine and dryed free of charge.

The construction. It can get noisy but it is tolerable and they do set the expectations by email, before check in.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Towels are included. I appreciated that they leave the airconditioner on and it's not too cold, just enough to cool you down from the island's heat and humidity after a day out exploring. Drinking water is provided at the reception. My bed was very comfortable and it had a curtain for privacy and to keep it dark in case someone turns on the light. The toilet and bathrooms were kept clean. Wi-Fi connection is good, even inside the room. There are lockers but you have to use your own lock. Overall, it's good value for your money.

There honestly wasn’t much to dislike. If I had to pick something, maybe just that I didn’t stay longer.

The staff was incredible—genuinely some of the best I’ve ever experienced. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful, and I truly felt taken care of. The renovations they just finished made a huge difference—everything felt fresh, clean, and well-designed. My room stayed cool and comfortable the whole time, the showers were great, and the entire setup felt effortless. The attached bar and restaurant were a huge bonus—just steps away and honestly, the food was amazing. I’ll definitely be back, and this place is now at the top of my list for any future visits to San Pedro.

Everything was good. If they really want to make it better, add an area where guests can hang their wet swim suits.

Bed was equipped with reading light and outlet. Curtains give more privacy. Storage under the bed was spacious. Bathroom and showers was cleaned and kept clean throughout the day.

I’d say everything was good for a hostel but I would suggest some hooks in the shower and a shelf to put your stuff when showering and hanging towel and clothes
