Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNothing!
From the moment we arrived the service was exceptional- greeted with a welcome drink and shown around the beautiful lodge, pool, restaurant and to our room. We stayed for my birthday and they had even left flowers and a birthday welcome message in the room for us. The room was spacious and beautifully furnished with homemade biscuits and incredible coffee which we had to buy a bag of before heading home! The pool was lovely, perfect for relaxing by with a cocktail while watching some of the wonderful bird life. The restaurant was exceptional and made for a perfect end to the day- their ethos for sustainable and local produce was fantastic and the food was showcased perfectly to allow tourists to experience true Belizean flavours and dishes with a fine dining edge. Our stay could not have been better!

United Statesthe trail map needs work. we got lost a few times while hiking (yes, could be due to our bad sense of direction too) but there are not indicators for elevation or miles on the trails. there are also some trails on the map that could have more landmark indicators like there are on the trails. because of the remoteness of this property, unless you rent a car you are eating all your meals at their one restaurant. the food is amazing but very pricey. i would recommend anyone who is traveling here to ask for the menus before hand as the food is (delicious) but very limited.
there are many hike-able trails and waterfalls, the staff take very good of the property. super pristine and clean. the rooms were clean and the food was great. everything was farm to table essentially. the staff were really nice and helpful. they offered complimentary shuttle rides to and from the trails on the property.

United StatesCan't think of anything!
The staff was very attentive, the food was excellent, and the property was gorgeous! We especially loved the private property tour with the lunch we booked. It was very special to see the waterfalls and have a private lunch by the river. I highly recommend this resort! One thing to say, though, is that it is remote. There isn't anything else around, as far as bars and restaurants off the property. That is the point of the place- to be in nature, which was perfect for us. Another thing we liked was that the staff told us they like the owners and are treated well. That is always nice to hear.

United StatesIf I had to think of a complaint, the only one would be that the rooms aren’t soundproof. But there’s some distance between each villa so it wasn’t a big problem… it just made for one awkward room service delivery 😅 (sorry about that)
The property is beautiful and in a stunning location. They have hiking, waterfalls, swimming holes, and THE BEST FOOD on their property! It was the perfect place to stay for a romantic getaway, but we loved it so much we’re thinking about getting married there so all of our friends can enjoy it too.

United KingdomHidden Valley proved idyllic for my wife and me. The location, high up in the Mayo Mountains, is unique, with endless picturesque trails that take you to beautiful waterfalls and clear blue pools where you can swim to cool off, all the time surrounded by a huge variety of colourful birds. The accommodation couldn’t be better, well furnished with comfortable beds and good hot showers. The food is superb, the coffee perfect, and the staff friendly and helpful, with a commendable approach to conservation and nature.

CanadaQuite far, excellent restaurant but expensive, the jacuzzi did not work, there should a bit.of lightning around the pool at night.
Hidden Valley Inn -- unexpectedly, I stayed in a lodge, within 7300 acres of wilderness in the Mountain Pine Ridge, 1 hour away from San Ignacio. I was greeted like a special guest, stayed in a beautiful villa, minutes away from the grand lodge, and the pool. There are kilometers of hiking trails, 5 major waterfalls on the property. I did the Butterfly trail, a 30 minutes by car, and a 30 minutes hike. Splendid! When you arrive at the falls and it's emerald lagoon, in the middle of lush jungle, you think that these few moments “Oh Mon Dieu" There they were all for myself, known as the “jewel of the property", featured in several tourist brochures of Belize. An unplanned stay, that took shape beautifully, blessed! @hiddenvalleybelize

United StatesGetting there is hard but you just have to plan ahead of time! They offer a taxi you can take to get there or you can rent a car, if you do rent a car make sure it is an SUV though! The road to the lodge can get bumpy.

United KingdomNothing worth mentioning.
Tianna on the front desk was a delight to deal with, nothing was too much trouble for her and the other staff. The location is exceptional, giving opportunity for interesting walks within the 7000 acres, over rustic bridges and up ladders which make it feel like an adventure. Guests were given long range walkie talkies so assistance could be called at any time.

United States“A unique location on a vast jungle property with its own trails and waterfalls. You can spend days exploring without needing to leave the grounds. This place exceeded our expectations: cozy, renovated cottages with fireplaces, beautifully maintained grounds, a serene setting, and incredibly skilled and attentive staff. The food was delicious—fresh, organic, and locally grown. The drinks were exceptionally good (special thanks to the bartender, Kenroy!).”

United StatesAmazing facilities and service. The food was all made my a chef on site. Since it was low season we practically had our own private chef. The resort is in a national park filled with waterfalls and hiking trails. Over 90 miles of hiking trails on paths that are well maintained and on the property itself.

United StatesThe grounds are beautiful although the trails are more like 4x4 trails thank hiking trails which was disappointing. Our birder guide Marvin was wonderful. The front desk staff are not that friendly but my biggest complaint was their email communication, I received multiple repetitive emails prior to my stay but they never responded to email inquiries about booking experiences. Very frustrating
We had a take away breakfast as we went birding and it was delicious
