Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThings to know - It is not a fancy hotel. It is a local place with local touches in the decor, mostly in shades of brown/beige - including wall color. My room wasn't dark like others have said in their reviews. The shower pressure is good, but doesn’t get super hot. The bed is medium firm with 2 plump pillows. The wifi worked well, but may not be fast enough for digital nomads. My video call froze once, but my Netflix wasn't glitchy. I would stay here again if back in Belize City.
Angie is a kind and helpful host. Her place was very clean and welcoming. There was a microwave, refrigerator, and dishes for 2 people, but no table and 1 side chair. She had Doug’s taxi pick me up from the airport and bring me to her place. He was also very nice. There was coffee, sugar, and some water available. The grocery store is a 5 minute walk and will have most things you want. Angie left a list of restaurants - both casual and sit down. Her place is in a neighborhood (not a tourist zone). I found everyone very friendly. The A/C worked very well. There was storage for luggage. It is a 30 - 40 minute walk to downtown, or you can take a taxi. I wasn’t feeling well one day, and she came to check on me. Very sweet

CanadaWe said that we would be arriving between 100 and 200. Angie was waiting to meet us when we arrived just before 100. The apartment was lovely, nicer than we imagined from the pictures. Angie provided us with info on lots of fun places to eat and buy any supplies we might need. The apartment was well equipped with wine glasses and other dishes as well as sun screen, soaps and shampoos and insect repellents (note the insect repellent was not needed for the apartment; just for if you were out in the evening when mosquitoes were also out) We drove and had access to a safe parking spot behind a strong gate. We did not need the service, but luggage storage is also available In case anyone is interested in a restaurant that is a little far from the apartment but very near to the airport, we had a car and on our way to the airport, we stopped for lunch at Captain Hook's, an organic shrimp farm and Wildlife Sanctuary for lunch before catching our flight home. It was the best shrimp we had ever tasted.

AustraliaThe only thing I didn’t like was the noise, this may have been particular to my timing but two nights there was loud music ( possibly a concert on night but more local the second time). There were also a lot of dogs barking. I go to bed about 9pm and wake early. I wore earplugs but it didn’t help much. One morning the neighbour trimmed his entire yard and the noise travelled. It was 7am so I was having breakfast but if you like to sleep in might have been an issue. However if you are going to stay in Belize City this really is a delightful place to stay. Location isn’t great for bus terminal, ferry terminal, the museum or the dive shops. But it has plenty of simple restaurants, and local shopping (tourist shops are near the ferry terminal).
What a wonderful place, I know it’s called Garden City Apartments but I’m going to call it Angie’s place because she has put a little bit of herself into it. I draw your attention to the details; the coat hangers are all symmetrical, the little Aussie koala in the book basket, the range of sunscreen and other items in the bathroom and the way the kitchen is presented. All immaculate and with a personal touch. Oh and I forgot to mention the original artwork, ear plugs and facemask in the drawer, an international converter in the power socket. That is exceptional in my experience. Then there is the information provided on where to find everything I might need and the ferry timetable, arranging the taxi to the airport in advance. I could not be happier and I just walked in the door 20minutes and started writing this review. All the facilities were as listed including the tv, fridge and coffee maker, Angie brought to cooktop in for me on request (which is perfect because I’m a tea drinker not a coffee drinker and needed to boil water for that, I guess you could do it in the microwave). The bed was comfortable and everything worked (hot water, fridge, etc). The internet was a little touch and go at times but worked. If you are going to catch the ferry to Caye Caulker or other islands it is a 30minute walk and hot and dusty even at 7am. That said it is doable. The islands are well worth the visit. Your ticket is good value with return ticket included which you can take any time up to three months. Ie if you are staying on an island for a few days you can get an open ticket to come back when you want. I didn’t see this option on the online booking system ( you had to specify your return), but at the terminal you can get it this way.

United StatesThe noise. On the back of the apt there is a busy road. I could hear the traffic even in the middle of night and some barking dogs. It’s a bit of long walking to the city center or water front.
The apt is in a safer area of Belize City, and a few restaurants/bars in walking distance. check in was easy. The owner Angie is very nice and gave me many useful information. My apt was specious and clean. There were coffee maker, mugs, refrigerator and microwave.

United StatesThe room was smaller than anticipated with access to the bed only from one side as it was up against the wall. Having a doorknob on the inside of the door would have been preferable.
The property was in a great location near restaurants and walkable distance to town. Angie, the host, was very accommodating from the beginning to the end of our stay including arranging taxi rides for us. Appreciated the bottles of water and being able to store our bags after checking out for no additional cost.

BelizeNothing comes to mind.
The Hostess Angie was very approachable and friendly, helpful also with any queries I had. She ensured my stay was comfortable, always available if any concerns though also never invaded my privacy. Local facilities are shown on a chart which Angie has thoughtfully compiled and found within the kitchen area. The apartment was clean, quiet and convenient to Belize city centre. It also came with amenities, such as filter coffee and machine which was welcome and made use of. There is a seating area just outside which I enjoyed making use of. I would recommend as a place for a very pleasant stay. I shall again book here for my next visit to Belize and use it as my starting point.
