Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

TaiwanThe room was a bit of small.
Central location where next to the ferry station to Caye Caulker or San Pedro. Fridge and drinking water were equipped. The Aircon ran well.

GermanyI stayed at the Belize Maya Cabana for several nights. The location is simply fantastic. From my window, I could see the ferry to Caye Caulker/San Pedro. The rooms are equipped with air conditioning, but unfortunately, the kitchen/common area isn't. A fan might have been a good idea. The bathroom is shared, but otherwise, you have your privacy. The surrounding area, or rather Belize City, isn't exactly a tourist hotspot. There isn't much to see. There's an ATM, a few supermarkets, and restaurants nearby. I just went shopping the whole time; it's the easiest thing to do. The Wi-Fi was very stable the whole time. The hotel is owned by a travel agency, so you can also book tours right away if you want. It's not a 3-star hotel, but it's perfectly adequate for a few days in Belize before continuing on to the island. If you're looking for luxury, this isn't the place for you.

CanadaThe kitchen area is like an oven during the day. Even with aircon in full blast, the room doesn’t cool down. At night it was good, but not during the day.
Great location.

United StatesThe lock on the bathroom was finicky. You never could tell if it was going to spring open even if locked. I had a hard time getting a second towel through five days. These things don't bother me too much, but should be mentioned.
The AC was great. I suffer from the heat, so that's important to me. The location is almost perfect,; close to the ferries and central part of town. They also had a nice refrigerator for guests.

United KingdomA little expensive for the quality of the room. It was fine for a solo traveller, but would have been a squeeze for a couple

United Stateshard to find building- the sign is super hard to see, not big enough. don't ask the hotel to book you a taxi to the airport- they don't have a set rate. heard it was $25 USD, got charged $35 USD even though I questioned it, then was told it was $30 USD by a different worker. We would have rated higher if it wasn't for this!
pretty good location- Could walk to everything I needed to within 10-15 mins (restaurants, the ferry dock, across the river to south Belize). normal bathroom (shower worked fine) nice little kitchenette (filtered water, utensils, sink, mini fridge, toaster, instant coffee supplies) beds were comfy enough for 1 night! AC worked incredibly!!

AustraliaNot quite soundproof; the people upstairs seemed to have very heavy footsteps and the barking dog was very loud.
My room was as good expected for the area and for the money. I chose it for its proximity to the Ferry Terminal which was a 4 minute walk. It was also in good proximity to the Belize Museum which I visited the next day. Karen was terrific at collecting me at the airport for $24USD and providing a large bottle of water and powdered milk so that I could make coffee the next day. Bed was comfortable and shower worked well.

ArgentinaThe kitchen and living room for guests were too hot. And, the neighborhood after 6 pm was deserted.
Belize Maya Cabaña is very well-located (just some meters to Belize Express and another ferry lines). And there was a well-equipped kitchen for guests.

CanadaNothing really.
We rented both rooms as a family of three. We only needed a place to sleep, close to the water taxi for a morning ride. We arranged an airport pick up- highly recommend. Karen picked us up and gave us some tips along the drive. The apartment is very clean and conveniently located. It isn’t fancy but it has everything you need for a short stay in the city. We were surprised at how quiet it was given that we were right downtown. I would definitely stay here again.

United KingdomI had to stay in the room with the bunk bed rather than a double bed but the bunk bed was comfortable enough and has sockets to charge your phone etc.
I can only pay by mobile phone/apple wallet and Karen was kind enough to allow me the room key and sort out payment the next day. We ste up a wahts app chat which was also helpful with them giving me info on tours.

United StatesIt’s a very simple place. There’s AC neighborhood is sketchy.
It’s an acceptable place to spend a night near the water taxi or airport. Note that it’s a 30 minute ride to the airport, but you probably can’t get much closer. There’s AC and WiFi. Bathroom and kitchen are shared with another bedroom. Staff is helpful. Some restaurants nearby.
