How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

We were treated like long-lost friends the minute we arrived and were always greeted with a beautiful smile and our names when we came to the restaurant. The food was amazing and we didn't feel the need to venture off the property to eat. Such a wonderful introduction to Botswana and we definitely will be back.

Verified reviewWe spent a night in Maun as we travelled with young kids to Namibia. The place was perfect for our children with its big garden and pool. The chalets are very spacious ,clean and comfortable and the big screen TV was a huge surprise! The staff was very friendly and helpful and we enjoyed their joyful singing !

Verified reviewThe Staff!! What a lovely welcome! Each and every member went out of their way to make our stay great. Nothing was too much for them. They arranged within minutes a Chobe river cruise , a boat which can accommodate roughly 16 people. What an absolute highlight. The food was delicious, although it was not a buffet. They are renovating the property. When it is complete, it would be superb 👌
Maybe the renovations may disturb guests. However, we were out all day and renovations promptly stopped at 17.00. I will definitely stay there again!

Verified reviewLovely staff good facilities. We had a two bedroom 'apartment' with a good sized lounge, one ensuite and one 'shared' bathroom. This was clearly either new or being renovated. Everything seemed to operate on what I call 'Africa time' which is great and chilled out. Staff were very friendly and on hand to help with whatever was needed.
Our 'apartment' had a room for a kitchen that contained a fridge but nothing else - on querying this we were told they do not offer self catering - seemed odd therefore to have a kitchenless kitchen.... You need a car or your own transport here - its a way out of Kasane but really convenient for the border crossing with Zimbabwe Meals are quite expensive - they are lovely - buffet style and it was great to have Botswana'n food on offer but compared to the prices of places in Kasane the buffets were expensive and, no other option in the close vicinity.

The rooms were also comfy and very spacious as they included a tv/dining area seperate from the bedrooms which was great for the periods of downtime when everyone was just chilling. The staff were also great! Mme Letty was so helpful and accomodating the changes we had whether with the rooms or activities they were assisting with. It made our stay such a breeze!
Some of us experienced low pressue showers and luke warm water on one of the mornings. However this was only the one morning

Verified reviewWe spent 4 nights at this 3-star hotel/guesthouse and had a great experience. It offers excellent value for money. The rooms were nice, and the garden and outdoor area were beautiful. The staff were very friendly and helpful, arranging all our tours and safaris. Highly recommended
On the downside, the breakfast was quite poor – it wouldn’t take much to improve it. Also, we weren’t able to get bottled water at the property, which was a bit inconvenient. Luckily, there’s a small shop just 100 meters away where we could buy water.

Verified reviewWe liked the rooms, the cleanliness of the rooms, the staff friendliness. The wi-fi was also available throughout most of the facilities. The staff always go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. The location is good as it is close to Chobe National Park and the Victoria Falls.
The facility is more of a guest house/B+B and not a Hotel as advertised. Prices are based on Hotel rates turning this into a very expensive B+B/Guest house.

Verified reviewThis property was under renovation when we stayed, but it was lovely none-the-less, and quiet. I loved having a separate living space and bedroom so my 6 yo son could have his own space, if he wanted it. We enjoyed one of two pools on the property and had no trouble with booking transfers and excursions once we got there. Boa went out of her way to get a coloring book and crayons for my son, which he thoroughly enjoyed!
There tended to be miscommunications over food orders and the food was just so-so. I think this was most likely due to the renovations though, since the part that was getting renovated was the reception area and kitchen. I also had an issue with wifi, but they promptly responded with a new router for the room.

Verified reviewEverything was excellent. The Hotel is owned and managed by women and there is a policy to recruit female staff from amongst victims of domestic violence and other disadvantage. The owner is an impressive woman with exciting plans for expanding the hotel over the next few months.
There was some confusion about whether the cost of the airport shuttle bus was included in the price, as Booking.com had said it was. In fact it was not. This confusion also applied the last time I stayed at Sunbirds, so I had made a specific enquiry with Booking.com about this - it seems that Booknig.com got it wrong.

Verified reviewWhat I loved the most about my stay in Africa was definitely the staff. Boa and Letti are fantastic! They make you feel right at home from the very beginning, always attentive and ready to help with anything you need. The hotel itself is very comfortable, cool, and offers great value for money. Plus, the location is perfect — from there, you can easily go on safaris both in the morning and in the afternoon. Truly an unforgettable experience!

This property was under huge renovations, no parking nearer the rooms, no clear reception signs and after an 8hrs drive a long walk was awful. The credit card machine was off line and the staff member said she had been told not to give keys until payment. A message through Booking.com would have been welcomed, I made the booking last May.

Was not impressed due to the frequent power cut which led to less water pressure to no water at all, and I suggest power backup installation to avoid such inconveniences in future. But all in all everything else was just satisfying not forgetting the aircondutioning,I was always looking forward to getting back to my room to have full access to the air conditioning😍
