How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

It’s a little bit noisy in the room. But it didn’t bother us, we slept very well.

Breakfast buffet was average. Poor quality and tasteless juice. Why bother adding water to the fruit. There is no flavour

The people I met at the reception worried me somehow. It took me a while to claim the room I booked. They tried to give me a smaller one which was not ready by 4pm. Finally they accepted and gave me my deluxe room which BTW was clean and ready. Why they did not give me my room from the very beginning??? Also they did not want to grant an hour of late check-out without any alternative. Overall the issues with the hotel can be somehow overcome but the attitude at reception is truly unacceptable.
Nestled right in the historical center, but noisy during festas. It is an old charming house, which needs renovations. Breakfast is really good, commanded by Marianette, a very nice lady which understands the business.

Incredible location in the historical city center, just steps away from the main marketplace, restaurants, bars, and live music. Staff was very friendly and accommodating recommending good places to eat and tips. The room was also stunning with a canopy bed and en suite balcony facing a serene courtyard.

Located within the bondaries of the historic center of Sao Luis, close by walk to the main cultural and animation spots. Breakfast in the inner court of the house. Room was very quiet and with all comfort. Kind staff.

A bit noisy/sound travelled through room and halls and bed sheets weren’t fitted.
Room was spacious and had great lighting and a clean bathroom. Comfortable bed, great AC and bedside reading lights. Reception area also stylish spacious and overall the style of hotel was wonderful. Staff was very kind and helpful.

Small, easy to fix, things. Shower was not straight and water goes more to the wall then to you, the hygiene shower nearby the toilet was leaking and semi-broken, since it is an old (historical) building, there are several small steps or uneven floor and none of them habe markings so we see them better.

The hotel is right next to a very loud reggae bar, which made it a bit difficult to work or go to sleep. It might be possible to ask for a room that's not facing the street if you're sensitive to noise.
Fabulous huge and very comfortable room, excellent staff, great location and a delicious breakfast.

During breakfast some staff were listening to really loud music and talking loudly. It wasn’t the most pleasant morning.
Amazing staff, super friendly and helpful. The location in the historical city centre is perfect to access museums and it’s also easy access to go to Alcantara (walking distance to the boat station) or the beach (a 10 min car ride). The rooms have air conditioning and bathroom is super clean.

- the whole house is already quite run down - old bed sheets, pillows, mattrace - staff was not as friendly as I would expect from a pousada - not even handsoap in the bathroom
