The location was great for us but some people may find hiking uphill to get to your lodging and then climb many steps to get to your room a challenge. Taxis are good about driving you to the base of the steps. The view was spectacular!!!

Make sure you close the lid of the toilet and close the bathroom door, othwise you may notice an odor.

The pool Was an absolute delight

It is really showing its age. Faded and broken fixtures, lots of wear, from glassware to towels. As quiet as you think the remote location will be, forget about it. Dogs bark almost incessantly and the favorite tool among locals is the gas powered weed whacker.

    Property response:

Dear James, We try to keep all our cabins up to par. The cabin you were staying in indeed has some scratches. We will make sure to get it bright and shiny again for the next high season. It was unfortunate that apparently you also had some towels that were a bit thin. I can assure you all towels that don't look OK anymore get downgraded to mops and eventually thrown out. I've checked the fixtures in your cabin, they are fine. The bed side lamp has a small button that needs turning, some guests think it's a push button and the lamp is broken. My guess this might have happened in your case also. If you would just have reported it, we could have explained it... You stayed in a cabin without kitchenette, so no glasses in the cabin. We use plastic glasses for use on the pooldeck, maybe you refer to them? Most of them are OK, some of them are a bit scratched up. You could've just used the newer ones... Too bad you got so annoyed by 'the locals' that were maintaining the garden of the 'non local residents' down the road. Personally I think you shouldn't make remarks like that...

This is possibly the coolest place I've ever stayed. A collection of cottages up at the top of a hill a short walk from town with amazing sunset views overlooking the island and sea. Not to mention a pool, great and affordable breakfast, and very friendly and helpful hosts (who provided a ride to the ferry dock when my taxi didn't show). It felt like a dream, I wish I had stayed there longer... definitely the highlight of my trip to the Caribbean. A perfect base for hiking the island; I got everywhere on foot over 3 days and ended the day with a dip in this magical pool with a view of Mount Scenery.

It was perfect for me. The cottages are simple and rustic, and the bathroom is outdoors... maybe my mom wouldn't have liked it but I have no complaints.

Outstanding place in all aspects. Got the highest possible chalet with the view. Couple more steps (actually a few more couples) to reach it gave us perfect view (and a bit stronger legs). Friendly personal and Saba all around. Suggest definitely.

If you do not like steps - do not go .. but then perhaps ... re think your visit to Saba at all :)

El Momo is a great little place with an incredible view and very friendly hosts. It’s clean, quiet and has good internet. Loved staying there and hope to be back one day.

Great views, lovely spot surrounded by nature. Basic accommodation but cozy and quaint. Nice pool.

Place is somewhat neglected, in need of maintenance and TLC. Constant barking dogs in neighbourhood. Location is not close to centre of town (restaurants, pubs, bank, shops, etc). Must walk a long way up/down hill in addition to 60-100 stairs to get to cottage. Not great value for money.

I really loved the stunning view and the charm of the small cottages, which offer a unique sense of privacy. It’s refreshing not to feel like we’re all in a crowded, standardized setup—such individuality is so important during a vacation. The peaceful silence was incredibly soothing and relaxing.

I enjoyed my stay, but I appreciated less the fact that there was no option for dinner available on-site. We were advised not to rent a car, which was manageable during the day for hikes and some activities as they were accessible without a vehicle. However, unfortunately, without a car, we couldn’t explore everything, such as visiting places like Bottom or the harbor, which are not within walking distance from Momo's Cottage. After a long day of hiking, returning to shower and realizing there’s no dinner available meant we had to go out again. This was particularly challenging due to the steep hill we had to climb at night, which isn’t ideal after a meal. If we were to visit again, we would definitely rent a car, though unfortunately, none were available during the weekend of our stay.

the location is nice, but not great if you carry suitcases as there are a lot of stairs.

The owners were great people, very funny and kind. The cabin was nice and the pool and views were lovely

It is up some steps as mentioned by others – no big deal if you are even mildly in shape (if not, you will be by the end of your stay)

The view is breathtaking and the room is big and comfortable. There's a wonderful balcony (at least in my room), and the pool view is almost the same. The pictures are accurate, and the hotel is in a quiet location. The bathroom is outside but that didn't make any difference to me, even in the night. There was a completely equipped kitchen in the room I was. stay here if you love hiking and don't mind the stairs. if you have any accessibility issues, don't.

you need to climb up stairs, which are about 5 floors high, through a side staircase to get to the hotel. there's no help with your luggage when you arrive or leave. every time you go out you think twice because of the stairs, and the walk into town is a stretch because Saba is so hilly. the bed could use new mattresses.

Picturesque and quaint. The view is breathtaking. The quiet from nature during the day was numbing, but during the night, the jungle came alive. You come close to nature and a lot of privacy, even from the other guests.

Because of the simplicity and being right in the arms of Mother Nature, it is difficult to have the room clean. What bothered us the most was the lack of draft in our room, and that was even though we had the windows open 24H a day. Beware that there are stairs from the street up to the reception and rooms, 69 steps to the reception a 90 to the Sunshine Room.

After a long climb, the first thing you see of the hotel is a squalid open space that looks like a construction site. My wooden cabin was very sad and had dirty walls. Even though it was August, it was as if the hotel was undergoing renovation. Saba is really beautiful and almost all the buildings on the island are nice and well-kept, so the difference with El Momo Cottages is even more striking. In conclusion, I left after the first night of stay.

Without a car, it is quite a challenge to walk to the town center.

I loved this location and regret not staying for much longer. Full disclosure: there are 69 steps up to the property, which you can't even spot from the road. But that is the whole charm of the place. Standing outside the cottage, all you can see is foliage and flowers. It's easy to think you're in the middle of a tropical wilderness. You can sleep with the windows open and the room is cool and calm. Breakfast was not included, but was affordable, filling, and healthy. The town is a steep 5-minute walk away (and a quick taxi back). This was a highlight of my visit to Saba, and I enjoyed getting to know Andries who takes care of the property and all its matters from sunrise to sunset. Bring a good book, and a swimsuit, and prepare for a really wonderful stay.

There wasn't anything I didn't like. This location and style perfectly suited my preferences and I wouldn't even consider staying elsewhere if I get the opportunity to visit again someday. Note the disclosure, though. This place is not for anyone with mobility issues. Don't bring a bunch of luggage.
