Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

HungaryPleasent surprise that we could sleep in a chateau. Really unique surroundings, huge spaces, but still cosy. Don't expect luxury, but still it was really nice to stay there. Breakfast was also adequate and the staff were really nice. We would definitely go back.

United KingdomSadly, the hotel is 'for sale'. We wish the staff well for the future!
Beautiful building in a quiet, atmospheric location - perfect for an overnight stay. Very good continental breakfast and the lady who welcomed us and served breakfast was friendly and attentive. Although the hotel cannot offer restaurant facilities the town of Hotton which has very good restaurants is only 10 minutes' drive away

NetherlandsThey didn't have our reservation in the list (we booked the same day). Lack of maintenance in general, very old mattress, linens and towels. There was some tee in the room but not any boiler.
Overall, the value for money was very good (we paid €115 for a night in September, with breakfast included). The building and park were very nice, the room was big and comfortable, the breakfast was correct.

United StatesWe would like to kindly suggest the addition of a coffee maker and a small fridge in the room, as it would greatly enhance our experience. Given that Rendeux and the surrounding area close relatively early, it can be challenging to find food and beverage options. Furthermore, we would greatly appreciate it if the chateau could consider providing snacks or drinks, particularly for guests arriving later in the evening. Thank you for considering our suggestions. Additionally, it would be beneficial for guests to have the option to come and go at their own pace using their room key, without the need to leave it at reception. This would ensure a more comfortable experience, especially for those returning late, as it may feel a bit awkward to have to request the key from the owner upon return. Thank you for your attention to these matters. Also need some number on the street to find the place..
The chateau is truly lovely, and I found the owner to be exceptionally friendly. She was very accommodating and promptly addressed all my questions and needs!

BelgiumThe woman is extremely rude and not welcoming. The inside is old-fashioned. Breakfast basic, tasteless. A pitty. Castle is for sale, which might be the reason for that poor behaviour.

United KingdomPleasant enough, It's a 17th century Chateau. And looks good, from a distance. But get closer, and the façade fades, quickly. The paint is peeling from the exterior window frames, the weeds are taking over the driveway, the wallpaper is beginning to peel away from the walls. The grout in the shower is going black, the 'fly screens' in the windows were poorly fitted. Wedged in with paper, leaving gaps allowing mosquitos in, the room (102) Equipped and decorated circa 1997, was dusty, a previous guest had been picking their nose in bed and wiping it on the headboard. While there is, technically, wifi. it's not setup properly to deal with 17th century stone walls. So non existent once you get away from the lobby. There was a cabled network connection, with Cat5 cable in the room, which worked (most of the time). If you're expecting Downton Abbey, Ardennes edition, you're going to be disappointed. BUT, in my opinion, all of the above is due to the place slowly running down. The lady that runs it, since 1997, is not getting any younger, and lost her husband and co-owner a while ago. I'm sure money is tight and getting tighter. I had a google while i was there, and the place has been on the market for a LONG time (since 2007, for 5 million Euro's). Currently 2.5 million Euros. I can only hope someone buys it, renovates it, and the nice lady owner can finally retire.
Pleasant enough, It's a 17th century Chateau. So it's got that going for it. But, see comments below in the :( section. Host is a very nice lady, who let me keep my motorcycle in the barn, out of sight. Breakfast was decent enough. Fresh baked, still hot, bread.

United StatesI stayed with my brother and unfortunately , I overlooked the check-in time and arrived late. Upon arrival, the owner was very upset and addressed the situation with a rude and accusatory tone, insisting that I was aware of the check-in time and was lying when I explained my mistake. I understand that arriving late can be inconvenient, and I sincerely apologized for the oversight. However, the manner in which the situation was handled made me feel very uncomfortable. Clearer communication and a more respectful approach would have been greatly appreciated. I hope this feedback can help improve future guest interactions.

NetherlandsI like mostly everything. There might be one point to improve, the wifi didn't not reach the room I stayed and the shower was leaking once in a while producing some dripping noise in the evening.
The location is really nice. It is close to the nature. The property itself showcases a authenticity of European castle. The property is also clean and parking is very easy. The staff member is really nice showing great amount of hospitality. She provides great breakfast and make the calming ambience for the occasion.
