How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewprice and value is great, simple but comfortable and in a great location. Everything you need for a stay.
I left the window open for air and the teams playing sports were a little loud outside at night, but you don't hear the big road at all. It was hard to find the actual hotel and the parking is not labeled well.

Verified reviewThe cheapest place in Brussels.
During the busy days parking spots are very limited.

Verified reviewSpacious rooms and bathroom. Ideal for big groups of people, like a large family or a friend's group, a sports group etc. It's clean and not overly expensive for Brussels. The rooms are furnished with bunk beds, comfortable enough. The bathrooms have stalls, ours had 2 toilets and 3 showers, so no one is queuing to shower. The hallways are large and roomy, so groups with lots of equipment are comfortable. We had no breakfast there. There is a vending machine at the ground level (which is level 2 on the elevator) for any snacks after hours.
By no means does this place enter the usual definition of an "auberge", but for the fact that it's a place to sleep. The whole place feels like the locker room of a secondary school or a local gym. It is indeed a sports sleeping facility. The fire-protecting hallways and very heavy doors make it all feel and look like a giant maze, and while it's supposed to be reassuring, it actually feels scary. The ground floor level is actually level 2 on the elevator, but we had to find out on our own; it's not indicated. The lounge area is a table and narrow chairs (a bigger adult does not fit) with a vending machine behind. Access to the parking place is complicated; it's not signalled on the street, so anyone coming by car ends up going round and round the place until spotting an entry. The parking itself is small, and parking on the street is limited to 2 hours with a blue disk. The person who checked us in was tired or in a bad mood, as he could not spare a kind look or a smile, even when we said we had trouble finding them, just spouting his instructions for accessing the room and checkout like a drill sergeant. Fitting, as it is a sports centre. However, nowhere does it say that visitors must be coming for a sports event, and since this is on Booking, it is open to the general public. A kinder welcome would have been nice. He repeated insistently that without exception or delay, we had to be gone before 10 am because they needed the room, as if we did not understand what a checkout time is. I suppose their usual rowdy groups of kids coming to sports events have trouble following instructions. It must be tiring, we get it. We left as soon as possible in the morning, with no regrets about leaving the place.

Verified reviewThe place is quite distant from the metro terminus at Hermann-Debroux, but there was a bus stop right in front. It is busy with young people performing sports as well as with visitors of different ages staying at the Auberge. I really liked that my room was very spacious and despite being very near the motorway it was absolutely quiet since the auberge itself is situated in a park behind the sports centre itself. The room was perfectly clean and the bed was comfortable, the wifi worked well.
Occasional noise from other guests, but that is to be understood in a place teeming with youth. What I did not like was the absence of hot drinks machine. It was impossible to have a coffee in the morning (before the cafeteria opened).

Verified reviewFor a basic hotel the rooms were very clean and the mattress very comfortable. The receptionist was very helpful and had a great sense of humour. All the staff I met were very helpful.
The long corridors with lights going on only when walking through them. If I had been on my own I would have felt apprehensive going back to my room alone .

It was dirty. The toilet is very dirty, it has traces of previous residents everywhere. As if it hadn't been washed for a very long time.

Verified reviewThe hotel boasts a desirable location and pleasant staff, with a convenient self-service breakfast. While the beds were acceptable, comfort could be improved. The room's heating system lacked individual temperature control, resulting in a chilly overnight experience. The wardrobes and bedside cabinets showed signs of age, though the overall cleanliness was satisfactory, although not impeccable, as some yellow stains were noted on the bed linens. The reception staff provided thorough explanations, though their demeanor was somewhat formal and lacked warmth.
Everything was quite good overall.

Verified reviewExcellent sports facilities, excellent location in a safe area not too far from the city with parking and a bus connection outside. (Transport and tickets could be made a lot clearer in Brussels and with less hidden charges)
The bed sheets could have been a lot cleaner (there was a fair amount of hair) I had a double room booked for one person it was not possible to book a single. A friend joined me for one night and I declared it when checking in, in case there was additional tax to pay. I believe they charged for an extra night which was a lot more than if I had booked the same room for 2 people for 2 nights.
