If we're in Barbados then it makes sense that we should be eating more authentic Barbadian dishes. 1 lunch in a week is not enough. Is the hotel scared to feature the food of it's culture or is the ownership obviously not Barbadian and could care less for preserving and promoting the culture. I'm sure that's it.

Some of the staff were less helpful than others, particularly in the restaurant. Our first evening we were offered top ups of wine, but this was not offered on subsequent nights. The set dinner menus were not so good.

I enjoyed the food as the selection suited my preferred diet, especially the salads and buffets. The gym was good, except both treadmills were out of order. The location was good, and water sports offered were good as included. It was nice to be able to dine around the other Elegant Resorts and restaurants. The food we had in the Italian was very good.

Rooms are in desperate need of updating, poor management in the restaurants (especially at breakfast time) regularly no plates, food running out - meaning you have to wait round the buffet area for it to be replenished. Also evening meal was buffet most nights rather than ala carte which (which isn’t great considering the amount of money you pay to stay here).

The hotel is a bit tired but under new ownership things should change under Marriott. The beach was a tad worn and eroded from previous visits and the beach staff need to tidy it up and rake it every day like they do at other resorts nearby. When we arrived we ate outside under the covers on the outside decking. This stopped half way thro and we had to eat in the only dining room. Sunbed bagging starts at 06.00hrs with no control...very frustrating.

Breakfasts were great although things tended to finish and not be plenished. The egg chef Ester is superb, so funny and efficient.

The smoke detector and fire alarm went off over ten times in the evening and night and we were concerned as to why we were not informed that this was an ongoing issue, which needed to be resolved. We jumped up each time to see whether or not we need to evacuate the premises. The potential risk for falling was evident whenever it rained due to slippery floor surfaces. The ceiling in the bathroom had an evident leak stain from the roof. We were staying on the third floor. The bathrooms need updating so that seniors can step in and out more easily without risk for falling.

Excellent food, music, security and outstanding staff. The day administrators were very helpful and reassuring.

The only downside we experienced was the hardness of the beds. They were not very comfortable, but this was also the case when we stayed at the Sugar Bay resort.

I loved everything about Tamarind. They have a beautiful beachfront, clean rooms, helpful and genuine staff, and a good location to other attractions.

I'm certain I didn't get my money's worth for an 'all-inclusive'. There was nothing special about my room or its view. Some of the staff were unfriendly and could be more helpful with just a little bit of effort.

Food was decent, as was the selection of cocktails available. The beach is lovely and some of the staff are friendly.

2 families with small children (age 2,3 and 8, having travelled 12 hours were told there was no space at the hotel. The treatment by the front desk on arrival was lacking in explanation or apologies despite our pre-payment and confirmation in writing just 3 days prior to arrival. We had to wait 2 hours for the arrival of GM for satisfactory response. A visit to the Tamarind later in the holiday showed the pool was not clean and child's foot punctured by a piece of metal wire in the pool.

The room was dirty, run down and in disrepair.

The hotel was an absolute disgrace. Dirty, falling to bits and an overall very very poor experience, especially for the £3,800 we paid for 5 nights.

The resort was in a perfect West coast location and they had a water taxi to take you to visit the sister properties nearby.
