How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewWe loved this spot! Just across from the beach and very private. Tim and Joan who were watching the place for the owners were great hosts and we really enjoyed chatting with them each day! Being able to have a late night swim in the pool was great as well. Also loved that beach equipment was provided so we didn’t need anything- super easy. Will recommend to friends.
Getting to the beach was a little bit of a walk which could be difficult carrying all the beach gear especially after a rain.

Verified reviewThis is our second stay here and it feels like our home away from home. The owners Andras and Beja go above and beyond making sure that you are well accomondated , not just upon your arrival, but everyday throughout our stay. The rooms are cozy and cleaned everyday with much TLC ! The entire place is immaculate, right down to the lovely pool. The ourdoor space is so relaxing after a long day at the beach. And beautiful Palm beach is just across the road and in walking distance. Cant's wait to return.
There is NOTHING to dislike about our stay at Karibu Aruba and we will return again!

Verified reviewFor my needs, the location was perfect! Walking distance to popular beaches, shopping, some restaurants and a casino. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They did their best to provide anything I needed and gave advise for everything else!
Booking.com said the Karibu had airport shuttle service, but they did not, at least not during my stay. The Karibu prefers cash payments, which was supposed to be on booking.com, but I did not see that listed anywhere. These issues were small items, easily fixed.

We apolized for this. We put the transportation out of booking.com because we do not like to disappoint guests. About the payment, its in booking.com, but next to cash we also accept zelle and banktransfer. We do not prefer creditcard payments because of the high bank fees.

It’s an AirBnb and not a hotel, did not offer airport shuttle as advertised and you have to pay in cash
The guest told us that the 5 was by mistake and that she will try to correct it true booking.com. We wait for this before we respond on the review. Unfortunately until now the guest did not make the changes as she had promised. The reason that we have been qualified as boutique hotel is because of the ambiance and amenities as minibar, daily cleaning, free use of bathrobes , free bathslippers and bathroom amenities. Normally we do airport transportation. Unfortunately we had an unexpected problem with the car why we were not able to pick the guest up from the airport. The guest requested the pickup service a couple of hours before arrival so we were not able to arrange something on such a sort notice. We explained to the quest what happened and she told us that it was no problem at all to take a taxi. We ask cash payment but we also accept Zelle or banktransfer. We do not prefer creditcards because of the high bank costs.

Verified reviewFriendly owners, nice places to stay around the pool and in common area, books and games availble, very cozy, kitchen and tea and coffe available.
Very narrow stairs to the room (we have got the upper one), the bathroom is almost open (the doors do not really close, they are open in the bottom), the shower was leaking.

Verified reviewStaff/owners; Andras and Beja are so friendly and helpful, always offering anything and everything. They made it feel like family.
This is not the very expensive beach front resort, but only a quarter mile walk to the beach. Its a 10 minute walk but still a great location.

Verified reviewThe hosts were incredibly friendly and accommodating. The location was perfect and it was very easy to walk everywhere. The bed was very comfortable! The beach was right across the street which was so perfect. There were beach chairs and towels we could use and we felt like we were hacking the system by getting all of the perks without the resort prices!! 10/10 would absolutely recommend staying here!

They don’t accept credit card and they ask cash payment! The rooms are very tight, and the bathroom needs renovation.

What we really do not understand is that you say it's clean, but then you give a low score on hygiene. It would be nice if you had told us if there was something not good. Furthermore, if you read our conditions, you could know that you had to pay in cash, but as we told you, we also accept bank transfers or Zelle. We do not accept credit cards because the transaction and bank costs are very high. The room you had was booked for two persons. You asked us last minute to put an extra bed in because your son came along, and because of that, it can feel a little tight. Just to let you know, not all our rooms are the same in size.

The hotel is close to the beach yet is a quiet oasis to relax. Loved the kitchenette, comfortable bed, towel art, shared kitchen with BBQ, tranquil pool, and all the extras like beach chairs and snorkeling gear.
