How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

The property was cold because we could not regulate the air conditioning. There were no blankets, only a knee blanket. No microwave dishes or a measuring jug. Corner cupboard was broken. Private pool was shared with others, so not really private! City views means, tall buildings and the car parks. Too many instructions.

Verified reviewLocation is amazing, big apartment and nice pool. We had a couple of issues during our stay but the staff are very fast at responding and friendly, they sorted the issues promptly.
Air-con having to be kept on made the apartment freezing even in the warm Darwin temperatures. 2 week stay and had to pay for fresh towels (although it was cheap but towels should be changed when you are staying for long periods of time)

Verified reviewThe property was clean and comfortable. The bed was very comfortable and having the kitchen, washing machine and dryer was so convenient. The location is fabulous! Across the road from the Esplanade park, literally 3 min walk to Coles. The apartment is filled with light during the day and the night lights over the city at night was lovely. The bathroom is a bit dated but still clean with everything you need, a a good size as well. Even though the balcony is small it was still great to have. The pool area is great … I floated around a few times on the free pool noodles. I loved my week long stay here. The building is also very secure which was important to me as a solo traveler. The customer service from the reception staff was excellent. I had hired a car and managed to park in the visitors park every day but one, which saved me considerable money on parking fees.
The only slight thing was that neither of the TV’s were smart TV’s, so I ended up watching my iPad all week. Not a deal breaker at the price of the great apartment, but it would have been lovely to log into my Netflix’s or prime accounts.

Verified reviewThe location is convenient being very close to the tourist precinct. Supermarkets, pubs, restaurants and the Esplanade parklands are nearby. The apartment is probably 25-30 years old and has been partially renovated over time. As a one bedroom dwelling, it is a reasonable size, functional and modestly equipped but it does feel dated. The king size bed is comfortable but limits access to the small built-in-wardrobe and the large settee provides comfort in the living area. The apartment enjoys swipe-card building security. There are pros and cons but it rates fairly for what we consider to be 3 to 3.5 star accommodation.
Whilst being close to the tourist precinct is good it also comes with the associated noise. The kitchen has been upgraded at sometime in the life of the apartment and is acceptable but the bathroom, whilst reasonably designed, is not up to standard. The once white grout of the original terra-cotta coloured floor tiles and silicon and grout around at the base of the shower screen looked dirty. The toilet pan and cistern has been modernised but the toilet seat is ill fitting. Our stay was during an unusually cool week in Darwin which undoubtedly exacerbated the problem of having no temperature control in the apartment. Even with the air-conditioning turned off, it was like living in an igloo because very cold air seeps in from the common ducts and passageways. On the first night of our stay, residual cigarette odour was very obvious but fortunately, this dissipated over a couple of days after keeping the bedroom window and balcony door open for ventilation and warmth. The flat screen TV in the living area provides a good picture and Fox sporting channels are provided. However, the screen is an old model and no HDMI or USB ports are available. Whilst available on the small screen in the bedroom, there is no power point for apparatus like Chromecast. Summing things up, the promotional picture differs from the feeling of the apartment but it it served our needs. It was also good that the pool renovations were complete so as to give credibility to the headline of the web promotion. Lastly, after our 10 day stay, we were were refused a slightly later complimentary checkout, just in case there was a last minute booking. No problem if we wanted to pay for a couple of hours. Mmm!

Verified reviewGood location. Clean and tidy. Good facilities within the apartment.
There are no secure parking space, I can only park at visitors spaces which are very limited and were normally full when I come back after dinner. Street parking are available but you need to pay at the meter from 8 am so you cannot sleep in.
