How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe whole atmosphere was lovely. The staff were amazing! The whole experience exceeded my expectations. We had all the required amenities and resources needed for a comfortable accommodation. For a last minute booking the process was seamless and simple. The room was huge and spacious the beds were super comfortable and the shower was spacious and clean. We had all we needed for a 2 night stay over. The laundry we had access to all throughout the trip. We had the best time we will definitely be coming again!!! It was too cold to go to have a swim at the beach but it was a 2 min walk from the accommodation. There is a huge common area where you can have a BBQ by the pool there is 2 sized pools 1 for toddlers and one for general public which I found was good for families with small kids. The BBQ is well lit and has everything you need for a day out in summer. It was close to the big mall only 10min drive. Would recommend to all! I wish I took photos!

Did not receive check paperwork ie info and wifi until the next day. Internet was poor. Could not watch any tv apps. No rugs in room which would have been nice in lounge area. Fold up bed in dining area which was inconvenient when sitting at dining table. For the price for the room, No washer or dryer in room and no dishwasher.
Hi Sarah We thank you for your feedback on your recent stay with us. Our late arrival guests are advised by email of the procedure for collecting their key from our lock box on the wall next to reception door. They are also asked to collect their envelope in the arrivals box underneath which contains guest registration and information regarding our complex, including wifi password. If this envelope is not collected by guests at time of arrival, we normally place under door of unit guests are staying in the following morning. All the information about our complex though, is available in the guest compendium which is in every apartment. We encourage our guests to report any issues they may be experiencing to our staff, whilst in-house, as usually we are able to fix any problems quickly. Guests are required to have their own streaming accounts. Fold up beds are standard in our one-bedroom apartments. Happy to remove same if our guests request. No apartments at Smugglers have washing machines and dryers within. We do have a guest laundry with washing machines and dryers available at no cost to our guests. Powder is also supplied. No one-bedroom apartments have dishwashers within, however some two-bedroom apartments and our three- bedroom apartment does. Thank you for the suggestion of a rug in the lounge room. We will pass this on to the apartment owners for their consideration. Take care!

Verified reviewThe entire complex was very clean. The apartment we had booked was lovely, it was much bigger than we had imagined and very well appreciated throughout. Furnishings were lovely, crockery, utensils, etc, were all very neat and tidy and in very good condition overall. Staff were welcoming and the arrival letter was very informative, making the whole process of checking in after hours very easy. We had a lovely outlook over the garden and pool. We will definitely be staying here again, and recommend Smugglers On The Beach with our hesitation. The walk to the beach is approximately a short 50mtrs.

Verified reviewPerfect location just next to Korora Beach and 5 minutes from Pacific Highway which takes you to other touristy destinations quickly. The beds are really comfy and lot of kitchen utensils to cook if you need to. No complaints about any staff.

Verified reviewLocation was nice and peaceful, very close to the beach. Apartment was well equipped and spacious. Even though we did not use the pool or BBQ area this had a great set up and was nice and clean. Staff were friendly and helpful.
