How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Our ground floor apartment was very dark and no windows in the bedrooms. Twin beds in one room that kept moving, so we had to put the bottom wheels in running shoes!!

Verified reviewGood position, outdoor areas, ambience. Rooms were comfortable. Parking was easy. BBQ facilities were very good.
Hardly anyone uses the pool….unheated and as there is no kiddies pool, the spa becomes the children’s play area. 6 kids in the spa can make life unbearable if sitting on the balcony in room 3403. We had to retreat into our room on many occasions. the design of the complex contributes to the problem. Our room was comfortable but the mattress is definitely passed its used by date. Toaster stopped working but quickly replaced.

Verified reviewThe location was great, right on the main street and walking distance to most places in Palm Cove. The apartment was very comfortable with good facilities and equipment. The balcony had a lovely garden and pool view. The smart TV was great for streaming personal apps and programmes. The Wifi was very good. The spa was great.
The second bedroom was not very private from the main bedroom. This was mentioned in the room description so make sure you read the room descriptions if this matters to you. The bedroom lighting was very bright and we read by torchlight so as not to disturb the 2nd bedroom occupant.

Verified reviewThe facility looked amazing and the room itself was very nice. The pool was always in the shade so it's colder than you'd expect but it's proximity to the beach and centrally located you couldn't do better.
The lack of care factor. We stayed for three nights with two small kids. On the Saturday night one of the other buildings at around 3am was sounding off to be evacuated. This went on for quite a while. When it stopped eventually it returned afterward. Then at 3:30am a bang noise started in our room and about 4:00am our building alarm went off with the standard woop woop evacuated because of an emergency voice. It terrified the kids and they were screaming crying. It lasted for 30secs and went off. No one let us know that we weren't to evacuate, no one on the intercom etc. The banging in our room every 30secs appeared to us to be some form of pressure relief valve, it happened for hours every 30secs or when people upstairs turned on a tap. When we came down to the lobby the hallways were flooded and they had dehumidifiers running. No one even commented on it. Not being much of a complainer I said I'd wait until checkout Monday morning to give feedback but the receptionist took my room key, said everything is settled thanks for staying. Didn't even bother to ask was everything ok, acknowledge that we had an awful few hours with small kids or the running of dehumidifiers in the corridors. As they didn't even want to check in or ask how the stay was I said I'd keep it for booking.com and so here is my first booking review despite 40 plus previous trips through the platform. You don't expect this for the money you pay. You certainly don't expect the lack of care factor that could have been discussed in person on check out. The bedroom was beautiful the hallways are borderline disgusting with the stains on the carpet everywhere.

Verified reviewThe position was fantastic. Close to restaurants and the tavern, with a little supermarket opposite. Loved the large balcony.
I was disappointed and felt duped that it is described as a 2 bedroom apartment when it is not. A glass divider separating the bedroom so we had to make sure not to turn lights on and the air conditioning doesn’t work in the so called other bedroom if the divider window was closed as there was no vent. So I would not book again especially if you require privacy from the 2nd bedroom. Definitely no good for adults as the bed in 2nd bedroom is shoved in a tiny closet/study. It was definitely a let down

We had a two bed, two bath hotel room and unfortunately one of the showers was not very powerful.

No reception staff after 5pm, our key safe didn’t work, had to go thro’ telephone calls, & someone coming out to reissue us keys , which took in all about an hour. This is no reflection on staff who came out - she was very quick and helpful . Apartment had a bad smell. Urine??? Non to clean- especially rangehood - smelly. Toaster had build up of crumbs and the glass on the balcony was covered in child’s messy handprints , obviously not been cleaned properly for a while

Verified reviewIt's a great property no doubt. Feels like you are on holiday as you should. I would go again.
Reception closes at 1700, thats inconvenient. After hours check-in was a tad annoying as i had to wait for 40 minutes for someone to check me in. On my last night, my key card stopped working and could not get in to my apartment. Again inconvenient, and I again had to wait for someone to let me in but only 15 min this time. So maybe you can fix these issues. Regardless, I would still come back.
