How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewDaintree Cascades is a place i would recommend to anyone who wants to switch off from the world. The cabin was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. The surrounding rainforest and private water hole were stunning. I wish time would have allowed us to stay longer. This place is special.

Verified reviewPlease understand this review is for the Cottage only (not the Roundhouse) at Daintree Cascades. To be clear, there are two homes on the property (completely separate). The property is beautiful, with the Cottage set in the rainforest along a creek with easy steps to sit by the creek. Also, the Cottage was extremely clean. We had two issues that we describe below, and it is confusing when you book -- know whether you are booking the Roundhouse or the Cottage as we were not clear.
Our issue is that from the moment we walked in, the Cottage smelled like mildew even though the fans are running constantly. There is no air conditioning, which wasn't needed in August (Australia winter) although we do not know the weather during the rest of the year. The first morning I saw water on the bathroom floor by the toilet and informed the owner later in the day (when we had wifi). She kindly quickly replied to say it was from an issue with the shower and would be replaced this week as they were waiting for a part. She also wanted to allay any concerns that it was not dirty water. I wonder if the mildew smell was from the ongoing leak. The second complaint is that there is no wifi except on the very edge of the porch, although we rarely could pick up the signal. We thought for the price, we should not have had the smell and wifi should be included.

Verified reviewWe took the roundhouse and it was superb. Located in a very remote place in the rainforest, it was superb, calm and relaxing. It really has a nice private creek. Having dinner in a terrace surrounded by the forest, even during the rain was magnificent
We did not see any cassowaries.

We spent a lot of time outside so it would’ve been nice to have some comfortable outdoor furniture to relax in.

Verified reviewWe absolutely loved our stay at Daintree Cascades. It was a lovely cottage which was very clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed to make our own dinners. The private cascades were absolutely stunning and refreshing for a swim. The surroundings makes this stay truly unique and an opportunity to switch off from the world to relax and unwind in the rainforest.
Nothing!!!

Verified reviewWe were looking for a comfortable place to stay with easy access to the Daintree rain forest. The Cottage at Daintree Cascades was VERY comfortable and in the heart of the rain forest. With a large creek, swimming holes, waterfall and lush vegetation right at your doorstep, you feel like you are experiencing the best of the rainforest without even leaving the property. The cottage is a simple yet beautifully constructed and well appointed dwelling with a luxurious bed, stylish furnishings, great ventilation, excellent climate control (ceiling fans in every room) and a fantastic little kitchen. The hosts were easily accessible and very accommodating. Could not recommend highly enough.
Didn't encounter any issues. The property totally suited our needs.

Verified reviewFrom the moment we turned down the driveway, we were blown away by the pure beauty of not only the cottage, but the whole enviroment. It was breathtaking, for all of the right reasons. Ali came to introduce herself to us and let us know if we needed anything, to just let her know. She also gave us some local knowledge of places to go and visit and also eat at. Ali and James were great hosts and we will definitely be returing to this perfect patch of tropical paradise.
There was nothing to not like

Verified reviewLocation was amazing and the swim hole looked gorgeous but too cold to swim
Underwhelming! One small 2 seater lounge was the only place to sit inside. No soft furnishings, lamps, carpet, fireplace, board games or toiletries as per description. Very small TV was the only entertainment so quite boring. We left a day early and forfeited the $350 a night. Better value properties in the area.

Verified reviewThe property is located in a beautiful little patch of the rainforest - you get your own little creek in front of the property where you can swim, or just dip your feet. Everything was super clean and all the essentials available in the kitchen to make and serve meals.
