How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Nil to report
Room as very good and beds comfortable despite dated fitout. Dined in the restaurant which served an excellent meal and overall staff were very friendly an helpful. Indoor foyer garden and landscaping is very restful and loved the display of indigenous art in different areas.

Property is very dated. Lots of mouldy vents and open roof panels with wires hanging down. Carpets in room were stained and threadbare.

Location of the property was excellent as we were able to walk to most of the major tourist attractions such as crocosaurus cove and darwin waterfront which included the water park ,RFDS and underground tunnels. Shopping and entertainment areas were located in the street behind the hotel making for easy access. We particularly enjoyed the window seat located in our room which overlooked the esplanade. We didn't have the breakfast at the hotel but it seemed very popular with other guests at the hotel especially the outdoor dining area.

There was no ironing board in room. Had to use coffee table to iron dress. I know I could've contacted reception but didn't want to bother them.
Loved the bar areas. Great service at check in and when ordering food and drinks at the Bar.

The room service menu wasn’t current on the qr link provided to the room.

Shower could do with an upgrade
Well situated, close to beach area and main shopping. Lovely sitting area on ground floor surrounded by plants. Good laundry.

Mini bar was not well stocked. Only 4 tea bags and 4 coffees. No biscuits (which are usually FOC in Australian hotels). A number of items were missing (chips and chocolate) and these were not restocked for the entire 10 days of our trip. Bathrooms need to have fans installed - warning on the bathroom door to close the door when you shower or you will be fined $1200 if the alarm goes off (not very friendly way of informing people of the issue that could be remedied)
Room was very comfortable. Excellent location.

Hotel is in need of some maintenece. I did let reception know what the issues wete. Also the shower is very small. Also the bed was advertised as a Wuenn but im not sure about that.

Not that I didn't like but the lady behind the bar struggled with our dinner and drinks order as her English was not the best I also witnessed her struggle with other guest. Main bedroom was nice but second bedroom had no power points, no lamps and it had 2 beds with only one bedside table. Also the bathroom was not ideal no fan and had to keep the door shut otherwise we could set the alarm off then we were told there would be a massive fine. Everything stayed wet in the bathroom.
Location is great and rooms are nice and big perfect for our little kids to play around

Breakfast average. Walk up to the Hilton for an amazing one. Don't take the outside parking option, too many tradesmen taking up space, there are a lot of renovations happening, which need to happen.
Comfortable bed. Nice room. Parking good when we change to the underground parking next door. Price for this hotel is good value.

The accessibility to the pool is just open for anyone. I thought it would have swipe access with your key.

Hotel is a bit dated. We booked harbour view, unfortunately no view from 1st floor. Breakfast was so basic and unappealing. Apartment was good size, but furniture and bathroom needs to be upgraded. For price paid, you expect more.
