How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe room was very nice and perfect for a family with 1 child. Looked really traditional and clean. Breakfast was excellent. The terrace of the restaurant is lovely and there's also a playground outside.
There wasn't anything we didn't like

Verified reviewA pleasant place, the room we stayed in was clean, the furnishings, though a bit older, were well maintained, the food was tasty, and the scrambled eggs made from local organic eggs were absolutely delicious. The staff lady was very kind, and it was easy to communicate not only in German but also in English.
Only the mattress on the double bed could be more comfortable.

Verified reviewI had such a wonderful experience at Alpenpension Ristorante Pizzeria! The owner is incredibly warm and thoughtful. She even gave me a piece of her beautiful, giant Monstera—and when she said, “I’m giving it to you from the bottom of my heart,” I was genuinely touched. Such a kind gesture that speaks volumes about her character. She’s very hands-on and truly cares about her guests—both in the restaurant and in the pension house. You can really feel that everything she does comes from the heart, whether it’s the food, the service, or the cozy and unique rooms. Speaking of food… her Italian dishes are absolutely 5 stars! ⭐️🌟👌 Authentic, flavorful, and clearly made with love. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area—whether you’re looking for a great meal or a charming place to stay!

Would it have been so difficult to check the hotel’s location before booking?

Verified reviewLocation
the staff was terrible, the restaurant took more than an hour to bring food, and they didn’t bring what we ordered. They charged us 100 euros for losing the key, although they didn’t even warn us about it in advance, in the end they were rude and refused to speak in English
Provocations directed at the staff were constant, but responding to such behavior with rudeness is not part of our rules. A warning regarding the waiting time in the restaurant was issued. Information about compensation for damages, including lost keys, is clearly outlined in the informational folder in every room. There is no necessity to repeat the obvious rules of conduct in public places.

Verified reviewThe hotel is in small village in a quite valley. The interieur is clean, nice and with details showing, the owner love it. We felt like in home. There is italian restaurant with nice garden. Parking place is big enough to maintain hotel capacity. We can recommend it for 1 night stay (our case) as well as main stay (nice trekking hills around and cycling paths). Thank you Gasthof Alpenpension.

Verified reviewIt is a simple but remarkable accomodation. The building is located in a beautiful environment and although the rooms are not brand new, they are well maintained and super clean. The mattress was fine by me, but to my friend it was too soft, I guess its personal preference. The view from the balcony to the hills and sheeps is breathtaking, just sitting there in the morning breeze is equalling a therapy session. Location is great for day trips in the neighbourhood, there are plenty of parking spaces available. Staff is very kind and helpful - even though some of them doesn't speak English, they tried their best. There is also an Italian restaurant in place, the terrace is just amazing and food is fine as well - especially compared to the low prices.
Breakfast costs €12 and however there are plenty of choices, they are mediocre quality - except for the eggs which they prepare you a la minute: perfectly cooked, great dishes. One minor thing: there is no fridge in the room - it is written in the description too, so no surprise but be prepared. And I must mention that the staff was kind enough to store my sandwiches overnight in their fridge, so I am not complaining at all:)
