I would say I didn't like it, but all interaction were done digitally, no human interactions. In a location surrounded by nature a human touch would make it pleasant, but I am just mentioning something missing at the stay.

Comfort beds and showers, good food at the restaurant, will definitely come back!

Often they have loud music late in the evening or there is some loud work going on in front of the hostel in the morning

The thing that I liked, was that there was no one else in my room, overall, the size the comfort and the bathroom were very pleasing, I find it definitely worth my money, you were able to check in on the iPad all by yourself, and you didn't need any staff check in. Definitely a recommendation if you're looking for a quick night sleep.

To lock up your stuff, you need a lock. I wasn't aware of needing one myself, nor did I know how to get one, however since I was alone I left the stuff next to me, so it wasn't a big deal to me but I can understand it would be a downside for some.

    Very clean and comfortable.

It was hard to figure out what number the bed was. It's not very visible.

Spatious room, every bed has its own curtain and a sizeable locker. Clean and modern kitchen with cookware, large fridges. Plenty of shower space. Bike storage room in the basement. The architecturally appealing building was an old hospital with a chapel inside, now redecorated into a hostel. Supermarket nearby. Note that there's no reception, but rather a self check-in. According to my experience someone was always available on the phone for sorting things out.

The room was rather spacious and clean. The beds are cleverly made with everything inside (electricity, light), so even with 6 prople in the room, you have your own private space hidden under the curtain. The boulder hold as the the last grip to get inside top bed is really funny.

The location is a couple of minutes walk to the church square and another couple minutes to the train station, so very centrally located. The hostel was apparently recently renovated and you can tell that the room furnishings and bathrooms have been modernized. The 4-bed dorm is "pod style" made up of plywood boxes with a privacy curtain. It wouldn't muffle any sound from loud snorers but does provide some privacy and shielding from outside light. The pods have a rail for hanging towels or drying out clothing, a power port, and a lamp. The washroom/showers were large and clean with many toilet and shower stalls. There is a restaurant in the building and food trucks in the courtyard, but they were all closed on the day I stayed (a Tuesday).

It might have been nice to have women's and men's washrooms/showers on each floor. It wasn't a dealbreaker, but it was a little annoying to have to walk to a different floor to use the facilities. Be sure to provide your own toiletries for the shower as there aren't any provided body wash or shampoo. The dorm room can get a little warm if the weather is hot, and only one window seemed to be able to be opened.

    Property response:

Hello William, Thank you very much for your review. Just to address your point about the restrooms: we have facilities for both genders on each floor. You might have missed it because the small figures can look quite similar. The second window still needs to be repaired by us. You’re always welcome to come back. Best regards, Your St. Josefsheim Team

The staff and facilities were great

It was quite messy and the general kitchen and toilet areas were not cleaned regularly

    Property response:

Dear Samuel, Thank you very much for your positive review. The kitchen and sanitary facilities are cleaned once a day. Unfortunately, we do not have the staff to carry out regular cleaning and if guests do not behave properly towards others, we can no longer control this. Depending on the group/guests, this can vary for each stay. We try our best to keep it clean. Kind regards, St.Josefsheim Team
