How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe behavior of the reception staff and the breakfast hall supervisor was excellent. The location is close to the train and bus stations and the city center, but despite this advantage, it poses a problem in terms of quietness. The breakfast was truly amazing, varied, and elegant, reflecting a strong commitment to providing high-quality service. Although the room was small, it was tidy with a comfortable bed and three large windows for ventilation. However, the problem was that the windows faced the street and the train tracks. Despite the spacious and comfortable bed, I couldn’t sleep that night because the air conditioner was not working. I contacted the reception staff, who informed me that the system was central and would start working a few minutes after adjusting the control panel, but it did not work until morning. I had to open the windows, which led to mosquito disturbances and the noise of the train preventing me from sleeping early on, followed by the crows' loud calls after dawn. I definitely do not recommend choosing a room facing the street if you plan to stay at this hotel.

Verified reviewHotel was clean and cozy . Staff were helpful . Maybe not a good choice for super warm days but otherwise a nice place.
We went there on super hot days, it was quite warm in the night to sleep . No A/c or fan . If we open up the windows you could hear people talking at night and in early hours the noise from the bus and train station. The pillows were too soft.

Verified reviewNice esthetics and friendly staff. Central location in regards to the city center and train station. Clean and modern rooms.
Beds are quite hard and pillows were super soft (if they weren't there you wouldn't miss them.)

Verified reviewDid the booking for other, wasn't there personally. The guests were satisfied. Nice and tidy room and comfortable beds. They were very amused with the breakfast - "very good".
Not dislike, but raised eyebrows. Booking made right away on different guest name. Sent an e-mail to Front Office, contacted them also via Booking.com message regarding arrival time, guest names and parking reservation, as this is obligatory to get a parking spot in the garage. Never got any reply. But it was all settled and ready upon arrival - with the exception for the guest names. Rather uncertainity before arrival here, but the staff took care.

Verified reviewThe breakfast was fantastic-- one of the best we have had in Europe. There was a huge variety, and everything was super-fresh. The location close to the train station was very convenient for attending the Bregenz festival. Dinner is available in the restaurant.

The fridge in the room turned out to be broken. All my food was warm in the morning. No gesture of compensation, no “sorry”. Check-out at 10 is too early

Verified reviewThe location was super for a number of reasons - 15mins on the train to Bregenz which is the doorway to Lake Constance and all it had to offer. Access to the mountains of Karren and Seilbahn Bezau. The forest and waterfall walking trail of Rappenloch. The gorgeous town centre of Dornbirn, etc etc. The hotel was in very close proximity to the train station as well. Breakfast was excellent, the room clean and spacious. The staff friendly and welcoming.
There was nothing not to like about this venue.

Many of the hotels in Germany and Austria don’t have air conditioning which is a great problem in the summer. We drove extra 40 km to get to this hotel which stated clearly in booking.com app that it is equipped with AC in the rooms. This is unfortunately not true. There is no AC at all! There is a panel on the wall which is not connected to any system. The room doesn’t have an opening on the wall or air sleeve. It’s just a sham. I talked to the manager of the hotel who didn’t even apologised, and just told me that these are the regulations in the area and I can leave and find another hotel!!! Since it was after 9pm we had no other choice but to stay. After a much disturbed night, we had to get up at 5:30 because the drapes in the rooms are very transparent and let all the morning light comes in. There was no option to darken the room. Terrible experience, and after dozens of reservations through booking.com, it’s the first time the information on the app was misleading.
Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that your stay did not meet your expectations. However, we would like to clarify that our hotel is indeed equipped with a fully functional climate control system. Our rooms are cooled and heated using a state-of-the-art, water-based system integrated into the floors. This system operates silently and has been officially inspected and registered by the relevant authorities. It maintains a constant room temperature between 20 and 23 degrees Celsius, ensuring a comfortable and energy-efficient environment. We regret that you perceived this as misleading. Our system meets all the criteria stated on the booking platform, even though it may differ from conventional air conditioning units. While we take your feedback seriously, we must respectfully disagree with the accusation that we provided false information. We pride ourselves on transparency and guest satisfaction.
