How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewGreat for kids with a big playground and animals. The room was clean and comfortable. Location is amazing with great views and hikes around. We would definitely come back.
The kid's area wasn't included in the price, though that wasn't mentioned as an extra fee in the advert. The breakfast is quite expensive. Staff smokes in visitor areas so we often had cigarette smells around our young child.

Verified reviewHotel Berghof – I can’t list all the positives at once! The facilities are excellent, and the reception, bar, and restaurant staff are not only professional but also fun and friendly. The owner is equally warm and knows how to make guests feel truly welcome. This place is perfect for a relaxing holiday, especially if you have kids — it ticks every box for families. My wife, kids, and I were all very happy with our stay, and we will definitely return.
There’s absolutely nothing negative to say about this place.

Verified reviewJust enough away from busy roads. Nice building and adequately size rooms.
The worst thing is arriving with shitty Austrian music blasting in the entrance and this goes on all evening??? And is always played in the communal toilets. Wi-Fi is charged - why??? Isn’t the room expensive enough already. Sauna you can only use naked - know this is often so for normal saunas but in a family hotel(?) could have made it in bathing suit. Some staff members are really angry looking all the time and some are excellent. Why is there no hospitality rules of how to deal with visitors shared among staff ?

Verified reviewVery low price, but contains only essentials - every single item you need to pay, ie. breakfast (very expensive), wifi... Breakfast very expensive, but amazing. Room was comfortable and clean.
Grill / fire in front of the hotel caused a lot of smoke in the room. Thought it is incredibly tough to sleep. Hotel is close to a farm so there is a lot of flies.

Verified reviewI just like that the rooms were clean.
What I really didn't like that the Wi-Fi is not free and the breakfast is not free and it's very expensive. And the playground of the kids is not free so do I have to pay for everything?

Verified reviewI can't rate the hotel because when we arrived at the hotel at around 10:00 PM after a 14-hour journey, the reception told us that there was no room in the hotel and they put us in another hotel 4.5 km away. No one warned us beforehand, they just put us in front of the fact. Since we were traveling with our son, he was very upset, because they had selected a hotel with a petting zoo and a playground next to a mountain river based on his requests, but in fact there was nothing. The payment for Wi-Fi is a total shock, I've never seen anything like it anywhere. Although I liked the hotel we were put in overall, it was very clean and cozy.

Verified reviewClean, and very comfortable beds.
Location is a bit off, far from anything else and many things costs extra (5euros for wifi 😳), breakfast is 15 euros.

Verified reviewThe staff was friendly and the kid-friendly amenities were nice.
Essentially, a lot of amenities were not included in the rate, which really ruins the feeling of relaxation; you are constantly thinking "are they going to charge us extra for this". For example, use of the safe was an extra cost. Access to the playground was not included in the rate (and pricy!). The breakfast was ridiculously expensive, especially given the high rates for the room already. The room was spacious and well-located, but dated. (old shower that was falling apart a bit, not very comfortable beds). The kids options in the restaurant did not include ANY vegetables. Essentially: nothing was terrible but the whole experience was so-so, while charging for a much better experience, and trying to sneakily charge extra at every turn.

Verified reviewIn general the facilities was okay. The outdoor playground was for smaller children mostly
The pools were “self cleaning” so after a while they would have to empty the 2 pools and start over, took about 2 days to fill and still being cold. Waiters in the restaurant acted like they could not care less. You have to pay for WiFi Play and pool area is NOT included in the price when you book

Verified reviewNice staff and many things for kids to do.
By arriving we were charged 50euro extra for using the kids play ground. This was not mentioned anywhere when booking. I heard many guests complaining about it. Further everything cost extra which becomes a bit annoying. Even internet or a fridge in the room costs extra (overpriced).
