Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GeorgiaIt was a bit chilly at night, though I didn't ask about a heater or whether the heating could be turned on — just slept in a hoodie.
Nice-looking hostel, fairly clean. Nothing much to add — solid quality for a reasonable price.

SwitzerlandI strongly advise you not to rent a bicycle at the Lake Sevan Hostel. The bicycles are old and somehow malfunctioning. Gears don't work well, and the saddle is not stable. To me, it's definitely not worth AMD 5'000.- a day. I reported these defaults to the owner of the hostel. He declined all critics against his bicycles and declared they were fair enough for tourists... I am not sure he drives bicycles himself. Anyway, a taxi would be much cheaper and more convenient than a bicycle to reach the Peninsula.
I was the only guest, since I travelled to Sevan outside high season. All worked fine for me. The shower is first cold, but if you are patient, warm water is flowing.

IranI stayed at Lake Sevan Hostel in the winter, just before Christmas, so the town of Sevan was very quiet, and I ended up being the only guest at the hostel. While this made for a calm and peaceful stay, it might feel a bit too quiet for those looking for more social interactions. Bob, the owner, was a kind and helpful host, always ready to assist with anything I needed. The hostel itself had a cozy atmosphere, and the facilities were decent for the price. If you're visiting Sevan during the off-season and enjoy solitude, this could be a good option. I’d rate it 7 or 8 out of 10.

GermanyLocated in the village of Sevan, which doesn't offer a lot. Lake is close by but monastery is 1,5 hrs walk along the main road. Mattresses are not the best.
The hosts were lovely even if they didn't speak English. Well equipped kitchen and nice little terrace.

United Kingdom13 beds in the room so it's very cramped. One bed is in the centre with 4 chairs giving it privacy so there's no space for anyone's stuff when it's full. WiFi not the best. Bit expensive for the size of the room.
Nice location with the shop of the owner next door and bigger shop the other side of the building. Near the cafes and shops. You can walk to the Lake easily by walking across the highway. It's not busy enough to be dangerous. You can rent scooter for 10k a day and a bike for 5k a day. Mini kitchen and small fridge for keeping things. The outdoor area is very nice but I imagine more so in summer. Small table in the common space but you can hear everything in the bedroom so outside of summer there's not somewhere really good for chilling. 2 bathrooms but wasn't really a problem for 1 room of 13 people max.

RussiaThe location isn't that much meditative: some building debris, old soviet buildings around... Well, it depends on the viewer.

ItalyI think the price is too high for a 10 bed dorm in a small town like Sevan, but it's probably due to the lack of alternatives. Two toilets is not enough for 12 people staying in the dorm. The only problem Is that the cleaning lady started cleaning the room at 9:30 while I was having breakfast and when I got back I had no bed linen and towel anymore - quite too early for a check-out.
The hostel is modern, has a kitchen and a really cozy outside area. The dorm has 10 beds, but the room is quite big. The staff is friendly, the location is good.

United StatesTwo shower/toilet rooms for 12-15 people (dorm plus the private room) proved to be really inconvenient and bothersome. Probably spent more time waiting for the toilet than exploring the lake. Mattresses were pretty awful, and two extra bunks (4 extra beds) were added on each side of the room, so you might not get the "pod" type bed pictured with privacy curtain. Cleanliness could be improved a bit.
Really the only option in Sevan, gets the job done. Host is kind, facilities are fine. Kitchen and bathroom are small but functional. Good vibes and good people. Outdoor terrace area was really lovely!
