How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The staff were incredibly kind, professional, and always ready to help. My room was spotless, comfortable, and well-equipped, offering a perfect space to relax. The food was delicious. Whether for rest or vacation, Villamaria is a perfect choice—I would gladly return and recommend it to anyone looking for a great hospitality experience!
One downside was that the hotel’s restaurant wasn’t operating for dinner or during the day, which was a bit inconvenient. It would’ve been great to enjoy meals on-site. Still, everything else—from the atmosphere to the service—was excellent.

Verified reviewWhen we entered Vlorë and, guided by the GPS, drove along a long road through the forest, we had the impression that we were lost. But the moment we saw the name Villa Maria, we knew it was exactly what we were looking for: a beautiful white building, with elegant balconies standing out in a modern style, set right on the seafront, surrounded by mountains, with a vast, green courtyard. At the entrance, we were greeted by a polite and well-mannered young man, who was kind and attentive every single day. The room impressed us from the very first moment – a beautiful bathroom, a huge bed which later proved to be extremely comfortable, with a perfect mattress. Every night we enjoyed peaceful sleep, and the daily cleaning was impeccable. Breakfast was a delight every single morning – delicious, varied, and included in the price. The hosts are extremely welcoming and attentive to every detail. And the sea… simply extraordinary! Calm, without waves, surrounded by mountains. The sunbeds are placed at a comfortable distance, so you feel as if you’re in your own world – free. Next to it there’s a terrace with a bar, but no noise, no music – only the sound of the sea. It felt like Heaven on Earth. In the evenings, from the balcony, we admired breathtaking sunsets and the peaceful sea. We booked 10 days here and didn’t have a single moment of regret. We will return every year, together with friends and family, because this is the place many are searching for, but rarely find. We were lucky enough to discover it. Our heartfelt thanks to the hosts – we wish you great success and wonderful guests! Verified reviewThe property is perfect for families and couples who are looking for a relaxing time, away from the noise of the busy beach areas. The rooms are very clean, spacious and extremely comfortable with balcony, fridge, tv, and even a desk for me to work from. The bathrooms are beautiful and spacious. This is my third time at this place. The breakfast was perfect and generous. There are places nearby to eat as well as delivery to the hotel. The sea is very calm and warm and due to its location it never gets wavy. I love it here and call it paradise.

Limited choice for breakfast. No option for coffee or tea, no hot water, had to ask for hot water. At check out credit card machine not working so had to go to 3 separate cash ma hi es to withdraw cah, almost missed my flight as a result. The owner is not friendly, was quite rude to my husband. Limited dinner menu.

Verified reviewThe location was great. It was perfect if you want to be away from the city. It was really quiet. You could hear birds singing. The staff was awesome. They were friendly and were always ready to help you with your requests. Food was good.
The beach was with concrete and you had to climb down stairs to enter into the water. One day we had ants in the room but the staff helped us immeadiately with insecticide. They need to buy new towels and sheets.

Verified reviewA perfect and wonderful place for a vacation! Waking up to an incredible sea view was something we adored, and we are still recalling that view. The breakfast was excellent, and the fine dining restaurant offered some delicious seafood and wines. If you’re coming by car, the hotel is very well connected to the rest of the Albanian Riviera. Highly recommended!!

The place needs upgrading for sure. The sheets and towels were old with holes and stains.the bathroom shower was rusty. The balcony was all spider webs everywhere I could not even seat outside because of a lot of mosquitoes. Is not worth it for the money that i paid for sure. Not using this hotel no more.

Verified reviewThe quiet and peaceful location of the hotel has a pleasant private beach and free sunbeds. The hotel has great potential. I don't like crowded beaches and it was very pleasant here.
I have a feeling that the hotel is run by people who have no idea about this profession and who do not pay much attention to what is happening in the hotel. The quality of the cleaning is terrible. We found numerous traces of the previous occupants in our room. Sometimes we received fewer towels, other times fewer bed linens than the number of people we were. The restaurant is very amateurish. Breakfast was pleasant and varied, although I strongly suspect that somehow tap water got into the served drinks, causing us to get a stomach infection, which cost us at least one valuable day of our vacation. We tried having dinner at the hotel's restaurant twice... Not once did we receive what we ordered. Only two staff members could communicate in English, which also caused problems. However, I noticed that they are trying to improve. Whenever we approached the staff with an issue, they tried to solve it. Overall, if this were a cheap hotel, only the stomach flu would have left bad memories, but at this price, one can expect much more professional service. It was a disappointment, but I hope they gain the necessary experience and reach the appropriate standards.
