Reviews of Vila Shkalla

We absolutely loved our stay at Shkalla. What a lovely family who really go out of their way to ensure your comfort. We arrived exhausted after a long hike, and while the restaurant at the villa was not open yet, Anamaria was so kind and made us a big salad with cheese and a basket of fresh bread and let me tell you, it was a mouthwatering salad (sounds ridiculous but really, it’s the best produce I ever tasted in a salad). Turned out that vegetables, eggs and chicken come from their garden. You enjoy eating a delicious dinner outside with stunning views and really fresh and organic ingredients. For those who claimed that the property is overpriced in the reviews, I’ve stayed in properties with farm to table concept before and with less impressive views and I paid three times more what I paid for Villa Shkalla. The property deserves every penny spent. Book your stay and make sure you eat there! You won’t regret it. Special thanks to Anamaria who was really wonderful and helpful.

Our experience at Vila Shkalla was wonderful! My partner and I stayed a week and enjoyed absolutely fantastic breakfasts each morning. The room is beautiful and the location, which is both close to both the hiking trails and the town is ideal.

The service provided by our host was excellent. The verandah view over the mountains was stunning.

The property was still to be completed with a lack of hanging in the bathroom and the door to the bathroom was see through offering little privacy.

Transparent glass bathroomdoor is not ideal when you with friends. Airco would be nice, but it was ok.

Good location

We had to pay cash which we they didn’t inform us beforehand. Also the bathroom smelled like sewage because they don’t have a proper seal for the pipes. Overall it’s way overpriced for what you get. There are better options in Theth.

The breakfast was my favorite of any location I’ve stayed in so far! It was fresh and full of amazing ingredients and there was a lot!

Everything was amazing . The people were so Friendly and very welcoming. They made us a lovely breakfast as well . The room was very clean and very warm . The view stunning ! Highly recommend!

It’s a bit more expensive and for the price, we expected a bit more comfort, like for example heating (travelled in September and had 5-12 degrees and a mix of sunny and rainy days). However, Theth is a super remote village and things happen like sometimes the electricity is down. So putting everything into context - the villa is perfectly located directly next to the river, crazy beautiful view from the terrace, the room is small, but the bed was extremely comfortable and cozy. Last but not least, the hosts were incredibly welcoming, friendly, flexible and lovely. 😍 and breakfast is perfect before a hike! Can highly recommend staying there in case you want to have a cozy comfort zone after exhausting hikes!

The hosts were so incredibly kind and made our stay an absolute pleasure. The breakfast was a highlight - one of the best meals we ate during our whole 10-day trip in Albania. The room was very comfortable and clean and had an unbeatable view of the valley. We would absolutely recommend and would love to stay here again.

The location is very good, at the start of the way to the waterfall and you can hear the river sitting at the terasse

We had an incredible stay. The staff was welcoming and made us feel at home. The food was amazing, both breakfast and dinner had huge portions. Location is great by the river and very quiet.

I didn’t like the conflict about what had written in the description of the apartment about that it has a washing machine ,but they meant that they provide a laundry .. pls for the future clarify that :)

Very caring and friendly staff with good communication, cozy place, beautiful view, fresh home-made food, and cleanliness.

The stairs were a bit difficult for older people. The windows were missing screens so that it makes it possible to keep them opened to smell the fresh air. The bathroom door was transparent, though the staff were helpful and got us curtains to cover it.

Our breakfasts were tasty and plentiful! We enjoyed delicious home cooked dinners on the two nights we stayed in Theth. We were so glad we did too! Marita obviously enjoys cooking. The hospitality of this family is very special and made our visit to Theth the best! Thank you Marita, Anne-Marie and Maurizio - and the rest of the family!
