How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewIt was our best accomodation in Albania. The location is great, near Gjirokaster but easily approchable by car - and there is parking available at the property. The rooms were clean and well furnished. The whole property is surrounded by nature - there are vines and trees all around, and the hens, dogs and cats are very friendly! They accept card payment. The food and the wine exeptional, breakfast and dinner is highly recommended!

Verified reviewEverything. There is nothing you can ask more, so peaceful. The warm welcome, food, everything was great. The owner couple are so nice. This place was fully booked when I first found it. I checked the availability everyday hoping someone would cancel for two months. My expectation was high yet it was beyond my expectation. You can truly relax here. It's just a tiny touch but ice cold water inside the fridge was very nice too as it was 40C outside.
It would have been nice if the fly catcher was in the room.

A cold soup was served, which was unexpected, but also what Albanian eat, so cannot really say if I did not like it or was it expectation mismatch when the menu said "soup" and I expected but got a chilled soup.
Are you serious, did you got your pills? You say that you like the location ,food was good, wine good and then you make a tragedy for something that first you should ask. When is 40 degrees we serve that cold. You come in the village 6min from the city. You slept in big modern room. You had your meal in the vineyard, around was chickens, turkey, wild birds which create an amazing atmosphere, 3 cats we have, 2 dogs and of course all family here work hard to serve you fresh, homemade and handmade food. Fresh vegetables fresh eggs. What you was expecting to see here? Aliens, dinosaurs or maybe someone from Hollivud. Or maybe you was expecting to see Donald Trump and have some conversation with him. I will let you know when he comes. This place deserve 1000% the money you pay but for you was not enough and give us 6 . Why you reserve a room in the village if you are Hollivud person? You say you will not come again here. That for sure , you will never come here again. Take your pills and then we will see

Verified reviewWe had a fantastic stay at The Barrels Ms. It was nice to stay out of Girokaster and be a bit more relaxed. It was also a beautiful location with fantastic food and wine. The room was very modern, air con and great shower. The staff were so welcoming and work so hard to make this place so special, I cannot thank them enough. Visiting here was a real highlight on our trip to Albania, to unwind and spend quiet family time in beautiful surroundings. I highly recommend staying here for your trip.

Verified reviewContemporary rooms with a good mattress and pillows. The restaurant setting was very romantic since you are dining below the grape trees with the view to the wine yard. The host was very friendly and offered us breakfast to go since we had to leave the hotel by 6:45 am.
The Wifi connection was weak and unfortunately we were not impressed with the dinner choice.

Verified reviewThis small country-side hotel is family run and operated. There are 4 rooms, with a restaurant right next door as well, where the included breakfast was served. The views from the rooms of the mountains and farmland were so relaxing to have and wake up to. Our large group of 14 rented all the rooms, and the staff was always available to answer and questions and make our stay better. Free parking was a great perk. The hotel is a short 10 minute drive into Gjirokaster town.

Verified reviewReally lovely location and very nice couple - Ada and Marcel - who took really good care of us. Gave us great tips on exploring Gjirokaster and surrounding areas for day trips. The vineyard location is just outside the main city and offers stunning views of the sky at night. Very quiet and comfortable. If you want to live away from the city and yet just a 10 mins drive, definitely stay at Barrels MS.
