We absolutely loved our stay here in Gjirokastër! The property is right in the heart of town, which made it very easy to explore the old bazaar, castle, and all the beautiful stone streets on foot. The highlight was definitely the amazing rooftop bar — the views over the city and surrounding mountains are unbeatable, especially at sunset. Breakfast was delicious, with plenty of variety, and the service was excellent throughout our stay. The staff were warm, welcoming, and always ready to help with recommendations. Overall, this is a fantastic place to stay in Gjirokastër — comfortable, well-located, and with some of the best views in town. Highly recommended!

It was bit difficult to communicate with the staff as they did not understand English

We stayed for just one night, but it was a truly lovely experience. The property was clean, comfortable, and full of charm, perfectly matching the character of Gjirokaster. The location was excellent, within walking distance of the old town and main attractions. The hosts were kind and welcoming, making sure everything was perfect for our short stay. We only wish we could have stayed longer – highly recommended! Will definitely revisit.

The hotel is in a very nice area.

They tried to scam us by charging 2.5€ more for paying by card when in booking is stated clearly that they won't charge any extra fees. They didn't like it but they finally agreed. Also, regarding the pub across the street, as many other reviews state, the pub lights are directed straight to the rooms and even if you close the windows the room vibrates with the blasting noise.

    Property response:

Thank you for your review. We would like to clarify that the 2.5% fee applies only when paying by card and it is a commission charged directly by the bank, not by our hotel. We are sorry if this caused any misunderstanding. As for the noise from the nearby pub, unfortunately it is beyond our control, but we always try our best to ensure a pleasant stay for our guests.

Location is amazing, the fact that you can walk out the door and u're directly in the bazaar is a huge plus. Room size was also very good, there was enough room to open our luggage and be comfortable. Breakfast was also very good and the staff was incredibly helpful and polite. We got parking tips, tips on what to do for the remaining of our trip and everything. Even when the language was kind off a barrier, they kept on trying to explain stuff and. Again the hospitality was very good!

Our particular room was located above the Irish pub, there was still another floor in between but still we we're able to hear the music till midnight. Having a room/hotel in the centre of the bazaar will always have trade offs so it didn't bother us that much, also because both of us slept with earplugs and we could filter out most of the music that way.

This is my 7th or 8th time visiting Gjirokastër, and while I’ve always met kind and helpful hosts, Hotel SS Kekezi truly stands out. The host here is simply amazing — warm, friendly, and genuinely caring. The room may be small, but it’s perfectly cozy, beautifully decorated, and full of charm. Breakfast was delicious, the view breathtaking, and the location couldn’t be better. If you’re visiting Gjirokastër, you won’t find a friendlier or more welcoming team than at Hotel SS Kekezi. Highly recommended!

This was by far our best stay in our Albania tour! THE BEST! The hotel is a gem, right in the heart of Gjirokastër! The room was not too big, but beautifully designed, and sooooo comfortable! And the outside garden/terrace is just out of this world! You feel like you’re in an old bazaar café! And when you think that things cannot get any more amazing, you up to stairs to the Obelisk and see the city and the castle (especially beautiful at night)! Even though the hotel has no parking space, the owner will help you find one! You might as well just let him drive (like we did) since the city is not an easy one for driving (really narrow streets, really steep too). You need to climb some stairs to get to it (totally worth it) and could get a bit noisy due to the location (above a bar, right in the heart of old town), but after all the walking during the day going up and down the hilly streets, you’ll sleep like a log :)) We just loved it there, absolutely amazing! We highly recommend it!!

God will strike me if a right anything bad about this great place :))

The people are the sweetest, the boss brought us in his car to the bus station (for our stay in Tirana). Breakfast was served even though we were late… When we arrived, they gave us a short tour of the place with an amazing view at the Obelisk and explained the history of the city to us! Only have amazing things to say and will definitelt come back!

The rooms are really cute and fit the aesthetic of the city. The location is perfect if you are there for a quick trip as we were. The staff were super nice and helpful and the breakfast was amazing.

The only reason why I am not giving the place a higher rating is because it is located by a street filled with bars that were blasting super loud music. I don't know if it is like this every night- we stayed there on a Saturday. However, we were told that the music would stop at midnight sharp - and it did! If you are not an early sleeper then it should not be a problem! Bear in mind that it is also not accessible by car and you might have to carry suitcases through cobbled streets!

The place was amaizing and people too, room was clean and in so beautiful place! Roof terrace is wonderful with very unforgettable view. Thanks, for what you are doing! We are from North, we are not so comunicable as people from South :), we felt atencion on each step in hotel - this is not a minus, but be ready that travler here is on first place. It is very good lesson for people that do not speak in one language but can understand each other.

Weather was hot and it is a good sign if small bottle of water is in room for each traveler. Here is just turkish coffee...

Be aware of location above the Irish pub. You can hear the music in the room, for us it was no problem.

Perfect location in the middle of the old town, stunning views, delicious breakfast & thoughtful staff. Couldn’t have picked a better place in Gjirokaster, it was perfect.

The roads are steep to get there & it’s slightly intimidating but that’s the case for the whole town. The staff here were super helpful and finding us parking spots etc. just be aware if you’re not a confident driver maybe best to hike the final portion of the journey.

A stunning hotel right in the centre of the town. The owner and staff were amazing, they made such an effort to ensure that we had a good time. We also had dinner at the restaurant within the hotel and it was brilliant food with an amazing view all the way down into the valley - we watched the sunset while eating dinner. Breakfast was also amazing, traditional food and a great variety. We would definitely return.

We were greeted by a wonderful, father and son team who parked our car for us and gave us lots of travel advice. The hotel is a historic, restored building. Breakfast was wonderful, with lots of local delicacies. The hotel is in the heart of the old bazaar. After dinner, we enjoyed stunning views from the rooftop terrace. Highly recommended!

The hotel is exceptional. The owner and his wife cannot do enough for you, the rooms are immaculate and stylish and breakfast was spectacular. The location is perfect and the Obelisk at night is magical

Unfortunately the hotel is situated directly above one of the busiest entertainment venues which results in significant noise. The music plays until late at night and is very loud. Personally, it did not concern me as I sleep through anything but my husband, and others who are not so lucky, will suffer. Such a shame as otherwise this is the perfect hotel.
