How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewIncredible views from windows and balcony and a great location so long as you have a car for getting around.
Communication in the lead up to the stay regarding payment was terrible. We almost cancelled our booking because we were so nervous about the lack of contact from the host, but this changed on the day of arrival, when we were sent a welcome pack and a number to Whatsapp. Make sure you bring the right amount of cash to pay in either euro or lek. Our apartment wasn't clean so we had to request the local housekeeper to come back to take the previous guests' bins out and clean the sticky floor, but even still we had to clean it again ourselves after that, and the fridge smelt really bad all week (but it felt like too much hassle to ask to get it deep cleaned). While the host was responsive and reasonable on Whatsapp, it's always difficult when they are managing remotely and relying on a local housekeeper to do the day-to-day. Overall we found this really overpriced and we ended up leaving a day early because 8 nights there just felt too long.

However, it could have been cleaner. Also, the person who let us in did not know how much money to charge and did not have any change, even though they specifically mentioned they don't accept cards.

Verified reviewThe apartment was beautifully appointed and located in the old town on the hillside. Parking was nearby and very convenient. The compendium and communication sent before our arrival were fantastic and detailed, which we greatly appreciated. Replies to our texts during our stay were prompt, and nothing seemed too much trouble. Would recommend for a family with older children.
We were there with two young children, so the stairs in the apartment were a bit of an issue (our fault). Restaurants and cafes were a bit of a hike; perhaps we just didn’t find any nearby. Communication through Booking.com in the weeks leading up to our arrival was nonexistent, which was a shame. Make sure to have enough cash to pay upon arrival.

Verified reviewthe property was beautiful! it was spacious, clean, had a wonderful view. had a nice kitchen too. we had everything we needed including some local recs and the number of a taxi driver who spoke a bit of english which was nice. the host also spoke great english!
it was very far from the beach, shops and restaurants. there was 1 restaurant in short walking distance and you had to get a taxi to and from the beach which was a lot farther than it appeared on the map so something to be aware,(40 min walk) but it was nice to have a quiet stay and they did provide a kitchen if you wanted to get groceries.

Verified reviewThe view! The flalat is gorgeously situated overlooking the old town of Dhërmi. The design is modern and contemporary and very clean. The lady checking us in, Violeta, is very accomodating and cheerful even though she doesn’t speak English.
The distance from the is a little challenging if you don’t have a car, but taxis in Dhërmi are plentiful and easy to get in touch with.

Apartment is 3 kms from beach, on top of hill and location is difficult to reach, bit depressing If you have luggage it’s too difficult to drag on those stone streets even if it’s 5 min walk from parking

Verified reviewIn general the flat is very nice, well decorated and with an amazing view. The bed is very comfortable. Now, cleaning was honeslty very poor (bathroom was hardly clean, rest of food on the kitchen counter, various stains), some elements of the flat are broken (Bidet, a couple of shutters, many bulbs not replaced) which is a pity as it gives a feeling of being neglected. So a pit disappointed, for the price we paid I was expecting better.

For us, only communication with the host could have been better - hard to reach which made check-in and check-out a bit complicated
