Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsBefore booking, we read through all the negative reviews about Guest House Mani, so we were curious to see if they were justified. After staying here ourselves, we can confidently say that most of the complaints don’t hold up. here’s our experience: • Parking: It’s true, you can’t park right in front of the guesthouse. However, we parked at this spot (34HR+2VX Gjirokastër, Albania) which is only a 10-minute walk away and completely free. Not a problem for us. • Small Bathroom: Some mentioned the bathroom being too small. We (as a couple) did not experience this as an issue. Sure, you can’t brush your teeth side by side, but for us, that’s really not a big deal. • Room Space: There was a comment about limited space in the rooms. We stayed in the Triple Room with Mountain View, and we had plenty of space for all our stuff (two backpacks). It didn’t feel cramped at all. • Shared Garden: Another point was about the shared garden. We haven’t seen anyone sitting there during our stay, and in any case, the garden is spacious and you also have your own private balcony. • Bathroom Amenities: Someone mentioned a lack of soap, but we had a very different experience. There were three body soaps and two hand soaps provided. On top of that, we were warmly welcomed with cold water, which was a really nice gesture. • Birds: The birds in the garden are a wonderful touch in the morning, creating a peaceful atmosphere. At night, you won’t hear them. So no disturbance at all. We deliberately based this review on the negative comments we had read, but our own experience was excellent. This guesthouse deserves a solid 10/10 recommendation. It’s a charming place, with friendly hospitality and a perfect vibe for exploring Gjirokastër.

This spot is a gem! We stayed here only one night on our way to the coast and would have loved to have more time! It’s so cozy and quaint, great a/c and wonderful hosts! Delicious breakfast in the morning (additional charge) but nice large portions of local dishes. Excellent location near the old town.

IndonesiaWe loved Mani and Lila!! Super helpful and patient with us despite our different languages. We were a bit lost finding the location but they guided us every step of the way. And Mani helped carry our big luggage. View from the rooftop was breathtaking. Great location to tourist attractions.

United KingdomA beautiful guest house tucked away on a quiet side street just off Gjirokastër Old Town, perfect location. The family were incredibly helpful and accommodating, even providing an optional extra breakfast of traditional Albanian tea and food. Rooms were very spacious and comfy, with a stunning view of the mountains and Gjirokaster. The host kindly drove us to pick up our car (a 20-minute walk away) and guided us back after Google Maps kept getting us lost and leading us through the blocked-off, steep streets of the old town instead of the main road. If you're using Google Maps, make sure to follow the main road: Bulevardi 18 Shtatori, then Rruga Doktor Vasil Laboviti. There's an off-road garage outisde where we were kindly allowed to park. Don't park on the main road outside the house though as I think they have tow trucks. Thank you again for saving us and for sharing your beautiful home!

United KingdomIf we could score Mani Guest House an 11 we would! Peaceful property with exquisite view of the town and surroundings. The family are just amazing too. We opted for the breakfast option at €10 for both of us and it was delicious and plentiful. It's quite close to the old town and castle. It's very steep but walkable and if you want a break from the hill walking there is a local bus that we found in the new town area which is 5 mins downhill walk and is located outside Pasteceri Elefteria and cost us 40 Lek. The locals helped us with which stop to get off for the castle. It's still uphill from there but might save your legs a bit if you are older. If you are lucky enough to find availability here then don't hesitate. Amazing stay

CanadaThe water in the bathroom drained very slowly, which left the floor a bit wet. However, we were provided with extra towels to manage the situation.
We had a wonderful stay at Mani Guest House, which is conveniently situated near the Old Bazaar and transport pick-up/drop-off points. We took the bus from Berat to Gjirokaster and then headed to Kalambaka, Greece after our stay, so the location was perfect for our travel plans. The host was friendly, making us feel right at home. The room was clean, comfortable, and offered a beautiful mountain view, adding to the overall charm of the stay. Highly recommend it for anyone looking for a great location, comfortable accommodations, and friendly hospitality!

United KingdomWe had a really great time staying here! It’s a small, family-run guesthouse, and the hosts were incredibly kind and welcoming. The parents don’t speak much English, but their daughter does, and she was super helpful in making sure we had everything we needed. They even offered us coffee in the morning, which was such a sweet gesture. The room was really nice and comfortable, and the terrace had an amazing view. There’s also a beautiful garden, which made the whole place feel peaceful and cozy. It’s a simple, homely stay, but that’s what makes it special. If you’re looking for something authentic and personal, this is a great choice. Would absolutely stay here again!
